Pretty sure he signed an 18 month deal.

    Yes

I doubt he would command a large fee, but even a small fee would block most SPFL teams from buying him. You would have to assume that he knew the risks associated with signing for club 42 and you also have to assume he has no interest in playing in the LL. I would suspect there's a break clause in the deal which would allow him to leave on a free (or for a vastly reduced fee) should we go down.

i think he's a solid league one player all day.

Agree. As good a season as Gregor Buchanan has had, I think Lee Hamilton is a much more reliable option at League 1 level and as such I think he would be a very good signing for the Warriors (not that I want it to happen). Buchanan has obviously earned the right to have another crack at League 1 but you have to maybe assume that Naysmith will be acutely aware of his previous struggles at that level and look to bolster.

He signed an 18-month contract, but I wonder if there is a relegation clause built into the deal.

    Lee Hamilton thoroughly deserves PotY.

    Yeah agree.

Allan a close second, 8 goals in 15 games for a club who have been bottom of L2 for the majority of his time here is a good return.

Liam Scullion has improved so much and deserves a wee mention.

Brian Kinnear is one who’s had a profound effect on the second half of our season. He’s made some really important saves and the difference between him and Leighfield is night and day.

  4. The turnaround in Liam Scullion has been fairly astonishing. You can see plain as day the difference he makes to the team to the point where after Allan and Hamilton, he’d be the next name on the team sheet.

Got to hold my hands up and say I would 100% have dropped Rennie after last week but he really showed up today. He’s so frustrating, but today really highlighted why you’d keep him in the team. Howie is another one that played very well today after a bomb scare showing last weekend.

I thought the referee and stand-side lino today were absolutely terrible. The amount of times Jordan Allan was being literally flung off his feet with two hands in his back was outrageous and I’m not actually sure he got one given.

  7.                                                    - Darren Jamieson -

                             - Lee Hamilton - Nicky Jamieson - Stuart Morrison -

    - Matty Grant -                                                                                           - Matty Shiels -

                               - Finlay Gray - Mark Gallagher - Andy McCarthy -

                                             - Michael Ruth - Jordan Allan -

I've mostly went from what I've seen in the flesh. I'm well aware that Stenny have smashed this season, but against Clyde they've been either completely terrible or just plain lacklustre. That said, the Jamiesons need to be in there. I can't put Buchanan in because literally every time I've seen him play football he's looked like an agoraphobe who's been teleported into public for the first time in several decades. Jordan Allan and Lee Hamilton make it in because they are absolutely superb. If Clyde somehow manage to not peace out of League 2, it will be because those two have almost single-handedly orchestrated it (I'm aware two people can't do something single-handedly, grow up). The others speak for themselves really.

  8. A few changes to the team I'd want us to stick out this week.

                           - Kinnear -

     - Cuddihy - Hamilton - Howie - Lyon -

    - Leitch - Ballantyne - Grant - Scullion -

                       - Young - Allan -

I've obviously set the above out as a 442 but ideally you'd want Leitch and Scullion to play higher and Young and Allan to play off of each other with one coming short. It really is time to get Rennie out the team. He's so ineffective and imho McCall has persisted with him for too long. He just mopes about, barely engaging with the game and the excuse of 'well he's normally good for a goal' is well gone. Connor Young showed more in his brief cameo against Stenny than Rennie showed the full rest of the game and I feel like Young and Allan would really suit playing together.

I'd also be temped to pull Howie out of the team and replace him with Sula after his insane, goal-conceding, two-point-dropping antics last weekend. I also really like Logan Dunachie and would be more than happy with him replacing Cuddihy at right back.

Do you mean like gain promotion?

    No shit

37 minutes ago, Right turn Clyde said:

I believe Ian was at Clyde in this role previously and resigned......

As far as I can remember he was an Associate Director dealing with the commercial side of things very briefly. I don't know too much about it but I can't imagine being an associate director of the club in 2020 would be a fun or fruitful undertaking. He moved on to bigger and better things with Stenhousemuir and clearly knows how to market a club well, something that Clyde clearly didn't take advantage of. He now has several years more experience and someone like Ian could and should be trusted fully with that aspect of the club.

  10. Very happy with the Maitland announcement.

Both on and off the park, with the exception of the promotion season (although they certainly tried their hardest to ruin that one with the Fitzpatrick situation), the last decade-and-a-bit have been a real shambles for Clyde. I know the board are volunteers, but jeezo it's been incredibly taxing. Mistake after mistake, idiotic decision after idiotic decision. There's no other way to put it, we've become utterly pathetic.

However, the past few months have indicated that with real, competent leadership in place we can maybe begin to re-establish a bit of pride in the club. There's obviously no way of knowing, but if we somehow manage to survive this season I think having Allan at the helm gives us a real platform to build on. If we stay up and McCall leaves, I'd trust him to put a solid management team in place.

Even in the increasingly likely scenario that we are relegated into the Lowland League, whilst it will be the biggest low point in the clubs entire history and the deserved culmination of a period of dire mismanagement, at least we have someone I feel confident in to spearhead the club going forward.

ALSO it seems that Ian Fitzpatrick is standing down from his role as CMO at Stenhousemuir. I'd imagine he'd be wanting to take a wee break but we should be bursting to get Ian involved with the club - he's done a really terrific job at Stenny and one look at their social media/marketing output from his team in the past few years coupled with the fact he's a Clyde fan should be reason enough to pull out all the stops.

Away options were in the programme yesterday. The yellow one is horrific.

    Screenshot_20240421_155338_Chrome.jpg

A - The yellow one isn't nearly as bad as folk are saying. Calm down. I don't want it though, because it's a Cumbernauld Colts jersey.

B - The blue option is just this season's puma trainingwear worn by most Puma teams. They were selling Clyde versions in the store but the players never wore them. The black version is nice, not sure why we don't just use that.

Team Cup Training Jersey - Grey

To be honest, Puma teamwear options are normally crap.

  12. Honestly, who cares about Jimmy Choo. Mute him, mute his burners, mute any account you suspect may be a burner. He's literally just some silly auld dweeb who's starved of attention irl.

I agree with both of you, down with VAR etc. It's much better that the mistake is made by the nerd on the park as opposed to being a comedy of errors by many nerds.

I will say in King's defence, he is capable of changing a game. Two crucial screamers this season plus stopping a goalbound shot vs Bonnyrigg shortly before putting in the cross for our winner. Strong case he has turned 2 points into 9 there.

Yeah honestly I think he's a very good player, and had he been played consistently in his more natural position I'd imagine we'd probably have seen a very different Alex King. However, not to be.

  15. 10 hours ago, standman said:

How’s Alex King been doing for Clyde?

He's very much playing like a guy that has no skin in the game.

To be honest, it's hard to blame him. He's needlessly being played out of position. No matter how badly he plays at left back, he keeps getting turned out there despite the fact that a) we could probably do with his delivery higher up the park and b) we have a perfectly serviceable speciality left back on the bench

Not sure why the EK fans on here cant understand why people don't like him

Same - from the outside, he's quite literally a caricature of the most unlikable guy you can possibly think of. A man in his mid-40's that dresses like a 13 year old, is terminally online, and seems to have no discernible talent other than having the financial means to surround himself with people who have the required skills. He's not a 'bad guy' or that, just incredibly irritating. He looks like he lives off Elf Bars and Prime. He's basically a Scottish Lower League version of Wayne Lineker. Like someone read a book called 'What will rub most people up the wrong way' and built him in a lab.

I also have to caveat this with the fact that I've met him several times and played against his Colville Park team and he's been brand new. Genuinely sound as f**k. He obviously knows the way he presents himself gets a reaction and annoys folk and he leans into it.

I cannot imagine why he'd want to take a job in the leagues. I said this when he was being touted (clearly by himself) for the Clyde job. He'd get found out rapid. EK's method this season has been extraordinary. I read somewhere that they've used almost 40 players. That can almost be excused if injuries have meant that he's had to dig in to the youth academy, but with every injury it seems like they've just went out and bought someone else. You just can't do that at a team like Clyde, or any team in the SPFL for that matter. EK's season has basically played out like a joke, like some kind of hyper-Darvel.

With all that in mind, I'd absolutely love to see EK go up this season (although PLEASE not at the expense of Clyde ffs). It'd be like some kind of social experiment. I'm absolutely dying to see what MK does when he simply doesn't have unlimited resources.

Amazingly, 'BullyWeeClydeFc' has downvoted all of my recent posts on here in the last hour.

Spectacularly petty in the most cringeworthy way, you simply must tip your hat.

  18.  My team for the weekend would be:

                            - Kinnear -

    - Cuddihy - Hamilton - Howie - McGinn -

                    - Grant - Ballantyne -

                  - Leitch - Rennie - King -

                                - Allan -

For me, Cuddihy is a better right back than he is a centre midfielder, and he's a better right back than Ross Lyon. Although Lyon has been fine of late, I still think he's one of our weakest points. Howie is a better player than Sula, he's been shaky but so has Sula. Leitch at 10 is an option, but I wouldn't want to pull Rennie out the team. Happy to be proven wrong! I don't think bringing Lyon or Sula in makes the team too much worse.

Whatever happens, this is the most important game of the season and we simply have to win.

Interesting Allan Maitland interview on the Clyde website. He positively name checked at least six folk at the club, but no mention of the chairman. Seems strange as he must at least have a working relationship with him. Any word of who the next chairman will be?

Enjoyed the 'Some of the staff haven't conducted themselves well' bit. Wonder who he could possibly have been referencing?!
