  1. It's doing my head in a bit that people are complaining about the lack of action. Folk need to understand the player market operates differently now, especially at our level. A lot of the free agents from the top league will be holding out to see if they can get a deal there. Once all the squads are settled with the top sides then those players left out then become available to teams like ourselves, St Mirren, Falkirk etc.

There is also the financial implications. Clubs can save a good bit of money not having to pay some players for a month. At our level 10k-20k is a decent amount of money that we can't sniff at. That is the reality of things.

  2. We managed three seasons full time in League One, but that included one season with two visits from Rangers while having a youth team after Admin, and then two seasons while having the lifeline money from fans (just under 1000 fans chip in monthly to the club). It was generally accepted that if we didn't get promoted we would have been going part-time.

The thing going against you guys is that we also had crowds of 3000 with most of them season ticket holders. With your crowds it is going to be a challenge. Ground maintenance alone swallowed a lot of our budget.

  3. Glad the above posters have said it like it is. Josh is a tryer, but is limited technically and physically. Since day one AJ has been talking about how important it is not to get bullied.

For me Byrne leaving was harder to take as their is a player in there.

Josh will end up at a league 1 side and people complaining about AJ letting him go will go quiet.

  4. I reckon McCabe's ceiling is much higher than Josh's and if McCabe is willing to take a small salary then it is a no brainer to me. Maybe after going from Rangers to down south he has finally found a dressing room he enjoys and values that. I'm sure he has a few bob already as well if he has been sensible so maybe has other priorities.

  5. Was at 3 of the 4 Pars game against Albion Rovers and i'd probably say it is a bit early for Darren Young to move up, although you could do worse with some of the names out there.

Genuinely hope you lot avoid one of the old cloggers that seem to move from club to club. Fife Derbies are always better when they are competitive (although with us obviously edging it ;)  )

  6. After reading the club response to the doc, I'm slightly concerned at the tone of the response in terms of fan ownership.

I was also slightly alarmed at their belief that directors are the best people to define who is a fan. This is all well and good when you have good directors, but how the hell would this have helped when Masterton was in?

  7. Not too bothered about Fais, we got a great season out of him.

More concerned about PJ. Losing a player before he gets the opportunity to play would be a stinker. I hope he sees it is in his interests to get game time here in the coming seasons than uproot, likely stagnate (happens with most kids that go south) and then end up back here in Scotland in his early 20s.

  8. I like how the article with Milne skirts around the major piece of evidence that the current Rangers are not the same as the Old Rangers.

In the first sentence it states

In 2012, Milne was one of 10 SPL chairmen who voted against the Light Blues playing in their league after the club was liquidated.

One of the other two were Rangers (Old) who voted to let Rangers (New) into the league. It is unusual for the media to reference this event as it is the one thing that blows the whole 'same club' argument out of the water.

  9. To be honest the past two weeks results are not far away from what Ayr have had.

They had a close 1-0 home win against Rovers, we drew 1-1 away to Rovers. We won 2-0 away to Airdrie Utd (aka clydebank) they won 3-0 at home to Airdrie Utd (aka clydebank).

It will be nip and tuck the rest of the way but in the end I think we have the better ability (as we should having more resources) to cope with suspensions and injuries.

  10. Am I only who is surprised that the club / company issue is being debated so much....am I being thick in thinking that the issue should be if green had a clause in his contract insuring his legal costs and when that period of cover was meant to start?

I think what they are trying to clear up is that Green has cover for his time with the company and that there is no such thing as a club in this instance. RIFC are trying to say his claim is for time before he was an executive of the 'club', but Chuck's lawyer is saying that it is his time as executive with Sevco that is what counts, as Sevco simply bought up the Rangers assets then changed Sevco's name to Rangers, rather than Sevco buying Rangers assets then ceasing to exist leaving behind the Rangers assets which is what RIFC are claiming.

    To put simply

    Green says

Sevco bought assets, continued as Sevco.

    RIFC says

Sevco bought Rangers, Green then became exec of Rangers and Sevco vanished.
