I have vague recollections of McGarvey but did he not have one of the worst managerial records in Queens history. The idea of the player-manager certainly did not have the desired effect. To think back to the times of the Queens directors/committee selecting the team under the McKinnells and I wonder if under Harkness the Queens team was being selected by the directors/committee or the managers under his stewardship.

I'm sure Naysmith has got the nuance for getting an idea of the players he's targeting.

Webster is no doubt finished at Championship level. Dowie and Higgins were great servants to Queens and those types of contracts do appear feasible. I was wondering how high up the appearances list Higgins was after leaving Queens. Unsure of the club appearances list outside of the Top Twenty.

I liked Ben Gordon at Alloa also and looked fairly decent.

I was at that game and he does look finished. Queens will hopefully go for a young centre back to partner Brownlie. I wonder if Naysmith will look to East Fife players again.

I'm not really surprised that Queens never gained more than 7 points against any other league club and I was thinking that without Dobbie’s goals Queens would have been relegated. St Mirren have released Andy Webster, so I wonder if Queens will go for him.

Hilson had 5 league starts and 9 appearances as a sub. 6 starts in the cups with 1 appearance as a sub. 21 appearances in total and 3 goals.

I'm not saying it is comparable to the modern game but nowadays the two wide players in midfield are effectively wingers so why change their natural sides.

The wingers debate goes on. I played boys football from 81 til 84 when the system was 3-2-5 and I was the left winger as I was left footed. There was no question of me playing on the right wing and the same went for our right winger as he was never on the left wing. We would never cut inside onto our weaker foot, as our aim was to get past the full back and cross the ball into the penalty area.

Luckily Queens are third best away from home. Also 6th in Offence and 7th in Defence also tells it's own story. With the Quarter Total points of 18, 2, 15 & 8 with one game to play you can certainly see where Queens spiralled down the league with 7 straight defeats in Q2.
