  1. The guy I thought was Marr since I can't ID him replaced by Grant - goodness was he hopeless !
  2. Hold my hands up on this one. Must have the name wrong. After some hard thinking replace Marr ? with Lex Grant.
  3. John Perry was a bit like that. Moment of great skill and be a game winner then a liability. Used to be near pulling my hair out watching him, frustrating player !
  4. It was a definitely a guy called Marr big blond lump could well be wrong on the timeline though it was 35-40 years ago
  5. Not a touch on Marr played a few games when we were in such a mess. Plucked from the juniors the poor guy was completely out of his depth. It was the same time asked Sandy Burrell who had been freed the season before if he could play a few games to help us out. Lot of respect to Burrell in doing it, a lot of players would have told the club where to go.
  6. Cooke was that wee shyster we signed from Shire at the same time as we signed Dunne. Played about 10 games and was never seen again. Shire must have been laughing all the way to the bank !
  7. Been thinking about that and have watched Falkirk since 67-8. You are right some infamous names came to mind over the decades mostly the Miller/Little/Hagart era. But he was a class above in the going through the motions and not being bothered one way or the other. Got me thinking about an all time bad 11 from players I have seen play for Falkirk. Here is my line up Fasan in goal. Back 4 of Cooke Meakin Dunne and Simpson. Midfield of Bryce , Marr . Mennie and M Oliver. Upfront Kinnear and our all time waster mentioned and would make him captain. Makes the blood run cold looking at it. Can you do better ?
  8. Also as a going concern we are not a marketable product.
  9. Talking of ownership. Does anybody know if they are still trying to sell up ? All I can find is that they are looking for investment. Which is stating the bleeding obvious and tells us nothing.
  10. No doubt about it Naismith & Boyce will put chances away. Best way to stifle them is to cut out the chances they get. Might be a game to spring a surprise and play a sweeper.
  11. Or a last 25 minute burst off the bench. Think that would be the most likely option.
  12. Reckon we will get 20 -26 points to the last game against Raith. Have a feeling it could be a winner takes all shoot out on the last 90 minutes of the season.
  13. You are correct ! but a better standard of player would be interested in signing for the club if we were in a higher league.
  14. There maybe another explanation for the lack of activity. M&M are going with what thy have for the next 13 games. Getting promoted makes a move to Falkirk more attractive and that equals a higher standard of signing for next season. Erskine would be the only cover for Mutch but it could be a risk they are willing to take.
  15. Have to say Aberdeen are way ahead of Hearts in the cheating whinging stakes, spitting was a speciality for them. Top mainly due to their consistency over the decades.
  16. Talking of Hearts gubbings does anybody remember a 5 - 0 thrashing at Brockville in the mid 70's. We had a Hearts reject ( pogo?) Smith who I remember got the end of his nose bitten off in an Edinburgh pub fight later on in life. Hearts had a centre half called Gallacher and he had a nightmare that game. Always wondered why the same animosity to Hearts never applied to Hibs. Theories anybody ?
  17. Look for yourself ! you asked the question I told you where to find the answers.
  18. Have a look for your self from July onwards. Doyle a character. 10 wins on the spin. Should win it at a canter.
  19. Its all conjecture. But you are contradicting yourself, if only the tactics were better , if only the recruitment was better. Hindsight management at its best.
  20. Was never going to be cruising the league. Players dropping down a level having to adjust plus new venues was always going to be a challenge. Not helped by McKinnon's management and tactics. Far to many were predicting dropping crowds because of weekly 5 - 6 goal thrashings and the season being over by xmas. It was complacent, over confident and deluded. Those that indulged know who they are !
  21. Long way to go and as far as the league title is concerned it's half time. Lets not get cocky, we are in not a bad position. One point off the top. GD as good as a point at the end of the season. Moral up. Core of 4-5 players with a couple of maybe's that are good enough for a higher league. So a bit less on the forum of regurgitating criticism on certain players, it's saying the same thing using different words and getting a bit boring. Back the management and the players on the park. Win this damn league and put the season behind us.
  22. The biggest thing that will have been taken from that game will be in the player heads. Bouncing into training tomorrow, all smiles with a lets get stuck in attitude. Post match analysis on what could have been done better and what as done well and could be improved on. Should put a team on the park next game ready to come out the traps all guns blazing. On the back of a win like that your confidence is up. M&M deserve credit for their man management skills in achieving that. It's one cracking result but let's not get over cocky but its a cheery Sunday for once.
  23. Ross County held all the cards on this. It was a seasons loan but with all these there would be a recall clause. They used that clause and negotiated in the best interests of the club. There was no conn about it and nobody should have an issue with them doing it. It is the best signing of the transfer window.
  24. He was known to be in the 1066 bar at 5pm with the rest of the fans.
  25. Markie - Miller - Gibson my Falkirk all time half back line. There may have been better individual players we have had in each of their positions. But together they were magnificent. What I liked about Gibson was then he had the ball and under pressure he would be able to hold the ball and pass it at time of his choosing. He lost a bit after he broke his leg and was never the same. But fond memories of a great player.
