I think Muirhead has shown tonight what he brings. He might not be a vocal captain (or perhaps the best choice for captain) but he put himself through that brick wall tonight. How many other players would have done that? I also thought Brough looks more of a centre back than the two actual centre backs we signed in the window. Maybe they got the cards muddled up when we signed them. As mentioned already, I think only Bauben was missing and we would have had the lowest number of players signed this season by the imposter of a manager. Gutted we couldn't hang on and that it was our own bad luck with the clearance that cost the goal.

Its the worst kept secret in football. Of course there is going to be a war chest made available in January what other choice would they have? Making it public won't tell people in the game who are likely to try rip us off anything more than they would already know. Lets face it there was comments in the media about it over the weekend. They are probably trying to get an easier ride on Thursday though.

Hartley preferred a clear out.... Balatoni on a 6 month deal was a 'free' space for him to fill.

I'm surprised to see greenwood frozen out completely. The only thing i can think is that he doesn't fit the current system we are playing very well being he likes to sit very wide. If we get ourselves sorted out in the middle of the park I'd like to see him come in when we play with width and balls into the box.

Instead of concentrating on all the negativity around the performances and how bad the players are, we should be looking for the positive.... after some digging best I could come up with.... .... who do we think for next summers concert??

McKee on the right would be a shocking decision did he not play on the right of midfield against dundee utd in the play offs? I'm sure I remember Houston playing him there before. He is better at crossing than many of our players.

If 4 managers have turned the job down, presumably the applications were pointless as we're going after people that aren't interested... 4 also seems a convenient number considering the herald printing we have a short list of 4!

I suspect we will see Hartley being given the last roll of the dice this week to sign a few players to patch up the squads issues in the same way that houston signed McGhee and Balatoni. Beyond that, no idea how long he'll be given. Personally I'd want a player to replace paton in the holding role and a right back(!), but anticipate a striker and another left back will be incoming.

Its possible that Hartley now considers Robson one for the future and has put him into the reserve/development squad. Be interested to see what happens there. It does make me wonder if Broughs injury is worse than was suggested by Hartley and that he's going to be out up to December.

When was the last time we won a first game of the season? In that period we've finished from 2nd to 8th. Yes there is things to be concerned about like the lack of any cutting edge in the last third, but its game 1 of the season. I'm not a happy clapper, but equally I'm not reaching for the parachute just yet. If the goal had stood from the corner, this place would have been so much more bearable this week!
