The funding would not have disappeared without elite status. It would have been lower however. If you tick all the boxes for the level under elite level you get 80k in SFA grants

I don't know enough about it to be honest but I stand by what I have said priority has to be getting back to the premier league.

The funding wouldnt have stopped without elite status it just wouldnt have been as much.  You just cut your cloth to suit the budget you have. Look at Raith who have hardly a two pennies to rub together. Not even in the second tier and yet they are producing good young players like Tait and Bowie.  I agree that now is not the time to resurrect the academy but once we are out of this league we should be looking to get some sort of youth system resurrected as soon as possible,

If you read back on my posts I have said that some form of youth or community set up is required, just not an academy style set up. I have also said that if/when we get back to the premier league we can start to look at the nice to have's so we agree on that point.

We’ll need to disagree on this one.

Even the elite teams need the home talent, Foden, Kane etc its what fans identify with.

The money was there to deal with the Academy free of charge to the club, the MSG either through stubbornness, stupidity or something I’m not aware of, wouldn’t even sniff it.

If you bring up that offer now they just blank the question.

Absolutely respect your thoughts on this however we aren't anywhere near the level of our own premiership teams let alone those down south. As for identifying with players, a few aside, we didn't hold on to them long enough for that and the ones we did were still given shit from some of our support (I remember hearing some of the shouts at Sibbald which were totally out of order).

As a previous poster had stated the funding would have stopped from the SFA when we lost out 'elite' status.

The MSG are the core problem at the club the repetitive theme from their disastrous spell is really unforgiving. Fans of any other club would have run these owners out of town.

Sometimes you have to look ahead and put the plan in place for the next stage now though.

If we did start the Academy, the conveyor belt isn’t just going to start producing instantly. We have to start the process of winning back the local kids to our club for whatever league we are in.

That decision by the MSG was the poorest they have made in our club, it’s put us back decades. Even Dundee Utd have teams in our town ffs.

Our team needs it’s roots back or we are continuously going to moan about whatever journeyman we bring to our club.

The only thing we should be looking at is getting out League 1 that's not a given this year at all. There are rumours of us having to go PT if we don't go up so I highly doubt an academy is on the agenda. Like I said I would rather focus on climbing the leagues rather than anything else.

The academy was good at the time and probably kept us afloat for a few years, what it didn't do was get us out of the Championship for 10 years. I think closing it was completely wrong especially the way it was handed however I have no appetite at the moment for it to be established. We should look at the Stenny model and try and make some money with the youth set up that way, their community programme is pretty good. If we get a player coming through the ranks from that then it will be a bonus. This need to have an academy is only for top tier clubs which sadly we are just not at the moment.

People need to realise that journeymen are required to get out of these leagues whether they like it or not.

  5. Probably a very unpopular opinion but I really couldn't give a hoot whether we have an academy at the moment. I would rather see us climb up the leagues and get in to the premiership before we even think about establishing an academy again. Ask yourself this, would you really trust the MSG to run it properly, given they decided to ruthlessly get rid of it without any form of consultation? Our full focus should be on climbing up the leagues anything out with is just a pipe dream.

  6. I honestly can't figure out our fanbase sometimes, Robson, Rudden and DKD were part of a truly awful team that got us relegated last year (albeit Rudden scored a few goals for us but failed miserably down south). I just don't get why some of these guys get idolised so much. Rudden is decent at Championship level but has only had one good season the other two really weren't anywhere near consistent enough to deserve the rating some give them.

A Partick fan at work is saying that they are looking to release Tommy Robson if they can get more defensive cover in this month.

Would we take him back? Maybe move Dixon into the CH.

My mate says he has been absolutely gantin when he’s managed to start with Partick. Although he has played about every position on the park and never been settled in one position.

No, he can't defend and was average in one of the poorest Falkirk teams I have ever seen. Didn't understand the love in some of our fans had for him maybe it was because he had a song or kissed a badge a couple of times. The fact Partick (sitting 2nd bottom of the league) want to get rid say's it all.

See Connor McBride has been loaned to Stenny from Celtic for the rest of the season.

Looked a player when at Falkirk and will have improved since then.

Missed a trick there - could have done a job for us.

Seen him at Stenny a couple of times this season nothing really to shout about. The fact that they are in the position they are in tells it's own story. Thought Blair looked decent for them though right enough.

Don't forget that one of the reasons we are where we are is because the BOD have been enabled by a large number of our lickspittle fans who don't care how we play, or what league we're in, and just enjoy a couple of hours out the house every other Saturday and go every week regardless.

The post above this just demonstrates how spot on you are!!

    I kinda agree.
We have already seen what we could end up with under a new regime. So whilst I have no time for any of those that have been removed, or have removed themselves from the MSG, I do want to give the new Chairman a chance to see what he and the revised board can deliver.
An awful lot of pent up frustration both from ourselves on one hand and the board on the other over past incompetence. Really we do need to try to draw a line and support the management team to get us up. If the board are not providing the necessary to make this happen that’s one thing, but we need to see what transpires from now and not focus on the damage that’s already been done.
Talk of protests at this point are of no help unless there is a viable alternative on the horizon that we can all buy into. From what I can see, there isn’t...

The point I was trying to make is that we have heard all this drivel before probably for the last 10 years. I genuinely now don't believe it makes a difference who is on the BOD they are driven by the same people who have overseen probably the worst period in Falkirk's history (administration aside). It's just a different band singing the same song can people really not see that? The infighting within the MSG is really killing the club, some want out, some don't, some are power driven they can't make an agreeable decision between them so how  is anything going to change? Fans will draw a line when/if these people leave.

You don’t have a clue what you’re taking about. You don’t know what I have done for the club. I have expressed my opinion on last night meeting as everyone is entitled to do.

Well you are wrong there I do have a clue as we have been hearing the same p1sh for years now. I don't really care what you have done for the club too many people now coming out with this sort of thing.  I have also done some work at the club in my time but that doesn't give me the right to come on here and act superior to those that either couldn't attend the AGM or don't have shares to do so. If you are happy to lap up the usual crap they have spouted then fair play to you.

Unlike many posters on here I was at last nights meeting. Gary Deans came across well and gave me some hope that we are going to start to take our club back to where we want to be, time will tell. One thing he spoke about was the negativity that currently surrounds the club and how we need to change that. I totally agree and with the comments from David M then it’s clear we need to change our mindset. We saw on Saturday how quickly things can change and with some small changes in the January window things will improve. The current situation is not something we can change we need to accept that until a major investor comes in then we have to accept it. Let’s give this guy a chance and get behind the new management team. COYB

It's attitudes like yours that are partly responsible for the current state of the club. How many times are we going to hear the same old nonsense spouted by those in power? 'Back to where we want to be' where is that exactly? how many times have we heard those exact words.

Against Ayr United. The defender tackled him and was grounded. Haber walked away from the ball even though it was still in play. A howler from Mitchell cost us that day. Must have been a record amount of points lost due to individual howlers last season.

Aye that's the one the whole South Stand was silence in disbelief after screaming that the ball was still in play and he just stood there. Unreal to think how many errors like that cost us.

Haber had done well at a far higher level and was just a lazy b*****d who want interested.

Can't remember who we were playing but there was one game where he had a chance missed, the ball was still in play to chase down and he just stood and looked at it. How this guy ever got near a professional football club I will never know.

I’d give M&M the job now and allow them to make some changes in January. For me a bigger risk would be to bring someone else now.

Changes in January!!! have you seen the accounts. I will be very surprised if they are allowed to bring in anyone come Jan (even though we have a few out of contract). Anyone that we do bring in will be scaping the barrel types.
