Will he be representing his own club if he get's the vote? Just like the present incumbent who also comes from a joke club.

Would be interesting to see if your club hierarchy think it's a joke club, and would perhaps consider refunding the gate money that the joke clubs many fans paid. Be a sizeable refund I would imagine.

Clydebank got knocked out the cups early  by Beith, Pollok and Formatine who were top of the Highland league at the time.

Not exactly throwing the towel in against diddy teams to concentrate on the league.

Luck of the draw or lack of it .

    A 2-1, a pen shootout and a 3-2.

Do you not think that failing to have you team/club competing on multiple fronts hinders your chances of success? Unsure if the sole focus for Clydebank was the league this year or if it was a case that you just weren't able to field a competitive team in cup games where the pressure to win or be eliminated is on.

I think this season if you are not league winners shows that if you don't have a team/committee/manager that are use to winning when it matters then your chances of success in the league is lessened.

How many of your current squad have had success in their playing careers i.e. league wins, cup wins etc...? Do you have a team of players of coaches with extensive honours to their name?

As mentioned before our two best signings and the two players that have made the difference to the team in terms of character and getting stuck in are Gee and Leishman as I mentioned the other day. These are two players both who had 10 years plus service at Talbot who have season after season won things. That isn't something getting a uefa B license coach is going to coach into players or having a coach with a "vision" is going to instill into players. I am not saying that either Gee or Andy would be my choice for player of the year however what they bring to the team is invaluable, if we never had their characters around the club this season I think we would be a different team altogether.

I personally think if Clydebank fail to win the league this season, then short of major investment into the club, I can't see how they can progress when teams are only going to get stronger next season and the already aging Clydebank players get another year older etc...If Clydebank remain a WoS club next season I think it will be a tough season for the fans.

Where are you pulling this "aging" squad from? Maybe 5 or 6 over 30 out of a squad of 25 ..... You do like to manipulate the truth Mr Rhubarb.

It really isn't.   Yes, it's a bit long in the tooth by modern standards with the shape that it is, but i's only really bad if you're low down behind the goals.

Hampden is not good for watching football. Behind the goals is miles from the action. Low down dug out side is unwatchable as the subs ets stand in front of you. The camber on the pitch doesn't help low down either side as you cannot see the far touchline. It is a terrible place to watch football.

Cages, groundshares all things that shouldn't be allowed at this level. No need for them, have your own ground or be restricted to below the west/east etc...premier league. Should be allowed in west prem up.

Do you agree with my other points on restructuring? You seem far more in favour of the LL than most.

That will be Inter & AC, Roma & Lazio Fkt then if they ever want to join the WOSFL ...

Get the excuses in early, I am sure the last couple of season youv'e played us down here our pitch was in top condition so are you saying your players struggled when the pitch was good, do they need a bad pitch to help win a game? Maybe the surface will play into your hands then if it isn't as good as what it was the past couple of years?

That makes no sense. Did the Bankies not win 3-0 on your "good" pitch.

Take away KRR and Arthurlie, I would say the rest of the natural grass pitches are all to good level even at this time of year. Beith is on a slope however that is an issue more to do with land than surface.

So you enjoy teams shooting up and down a hill. Away and give me peace.

Good level? Darvel, hardly any rain in the last 2 weeks, but needs a pitch inspection. Glens, a mud heap at the best of times.

  8. 31 minutes ago, rhubarb1974 said:

So you wouldn't prefer to have your team play on a well maintained natural surface? The way football had been intended on being played on? I think atmosphere at games is worse when on astros.

Other than training facilities during winter, I really don't see the need for teams to have them for games.

A club as well supported as Clydebank should be on grass. Astros are horrible surfaces to watch games on.

How many "well maintained" natural surfaces are there at this level? Apart from Talbot, which is always exceptional, there aren't too many others, especially this deep in the season.

So if you are asking would I rather watch my team on a good quality astro, on on the "problem pitch" that is Darvel, or the mountain slope that is Beith, then yes I would rather watch on astro.

I can see the LL becoming a closed shop soon. The SPFL do not want to lose clubs that have historically always been in the SPFL.

The lowland league at the moment still is an unattractive league. In hindsight how the situation has unfolded, I would suspect that a number of teams would have changed their mind on the West of Scotland pyramid system. There has been no real benefit to it. One or two teams forced the idea, Kilwinning Rangers being one, that worked out well for them. Rutherglen Glencairn another, no better off now than before and the champions elect Clydebank who always thought themselves better than juniors, a team most would be glad to see the back off.

I think most teams treasurers are delighted when Clydebank roll into town. Still if you don't see that benefit, maybe arrange for Clydebank fans to get into Darvel for free next month.

Something you don't support, financial fairness, look at the mess the club Airdrie Utd took over that were once called Clydebank.

Why would you be against teams needing to have their own grounds? At present there is no limit to how many teams can use the one ground. I know approx. costs to maintain our pitch per year, Clydebank using council facilities which they share with Yoker have no such expense.

I don't suppose Clydebank & Yoker operate a dual contract with players either. Maybe, just maybe you shouldn't have laid a pitch that full time clubs couldn't afford, or indeed kitted out the finest changing rooms in Scotland. Especially with a very poor home support, unless of course the Big Teams are in town to boost the coffers.

St Cadocs, in my opinion wouldn't be a loss to the league as bring no fans, have no ground etc...that said they go about their business quietly and are picking off good results, they won promotion last year. For me St Cadocs are a team more in line with the lowland league, a club run by money, not really representing any community etc...and no real fan base. This is similar to Caledonian Braves, EK etc...

I think it will be an interesting end to the season.

Clydebank are not a well decorated club, no premier league titles, Scottish Cups etc...yes they beat as weak of Talbot albeit one that is building for seasons to come twice however given the money Clydebank has thrown at the team to win promotion then scraping two one goal victories against Talbot probably tells you more about Clydebank than anything.

I am still an advocate for every club should have their own ground, we went without a game last weekend due to ground sharing. ground sharing should be restricted to below west prem, these council type ground such as New Tinto, Gartcairn, Holm Park etc...are soulless places to go.

I had a laugh with a committee member at Talbot for eating all the free pies at half time and was shocked to hear that they don't provide pies etc... for opposition committee members and coffees were help yourself. One thing we have got right is how we treat members of other clubs coming doon the brae. I was shocked to hear that the "directors" of Clydebank can't even treat guest right.

No secret Maxwell has been under pressure for weeks now. When I say secret I mean unofficial meeting with a potential candiate so if they do pull the trigger they have someone to replace him with.

Away and howl at the moon .......

St Cadocs sneaking up the league quietly.  Win games in hand 1 point off Clydebank who don’t really have the experience of getting things over the line.

Beith can go comfortably clear if win their games in hand.

I think we (Darvel) still in with a shout after watching Clydebank at weekend.  Very lucky against a very young talbot side.  Stronger side lost.  I think talbot will still have influence on the outcome of league.

hearing reports of pollock committee guys having secret  meetings with a potential new manager currently in the west prem after the weekends result.  Any more on this?

    1. Do St. Cadocs have experience of getting things over the line.

    2. Whilst I agree Beith are slight favourites, they have already lost the same number of games this season as Clydebank, so maybe better with points on the board.

    3. If you think Talbot deserved to win on Saturday, you must have been in The Lovat at opening time. Although, if Talbot are going to influence the eventual winners, then I am glad we have played them twice already (and beat them twice).

    4. Not much of a secret meeting if you know about it.

  13. For what it's worth, my take on this is quite simple. The "powers that be " cannot do anything other than award the game to Glenafton.

Somebody earlier in the thread summed it up. A few key players missing with injury/ suspension, turn up with 7, have an injury and abandon the game. Then get a replay when everybody is back. It cannot be allowed to happen. Time for the blazers to show a bit of leadership.

Quick question  how do people sleep at night ,Pollok play virtual full strength squad and are to be commended ( showing respect to the league and to all the teams scrapping away at the bottom ) yet Clydebank well I will just leave it at that.

Not being funny, but is Clydebank's responsibilty not to themselves and their fans?

Massive game tonight,  couldn't change position in the league no matter the outcome.

Imaging the outcry from the Bankies fans if they had gone full strength on Saturday and picked up a few injuries.

Clydebank over the season gained enough points to allow themselves the right to play whatever team the manager chose.

Totally agree , leaving the ground Clydebank fans saying they thought ref had a good game, they would do he have them everything  they shouted for and more .

Can you name 1 decision the ref gave wrong that impacted the game? Red Card was just stupidity from the Darvel player. Other than that, the ref never really had a game changing decision to make. Please feel free to point any out though

Not for me. It just gives the bigger teams with bigger squads even more of an advantage

Does it not mean though that smaller squads can perhps give key players a break, maybe not having to play through an injury for 20 mins. Might also encourage more u20's to get an opportunity.

  17. As the English Premier League have voted to allow 5 subs next season, with all their sport science, massive medical teams and huge squads, surely it would make sense to have the same in the WOSFL. Boys working all week and maybe having to play 2 or 3 games, no wonder players get injured.

Given that there is precisely one team out of 34 entrants from tier 5 in the draw, your tantrum about the lack of automatic relegation from the SPFL is utter bollocks. Why should the SPFL accept automatic promotion from a crap grade whose teams who can't beat Darvel or Sauchie Juniors?

When the Highland and Lowland Leagues are fit for purpose (which they will be soon enough), then that change should be made.  Not before though.

Although given that there are 4 Tier 6 clubs in the last 32, and they have played 10 games v teams higher and not lost one, with 90% played infront of crowds of over 1,000. Are these clubs not being held back by the lack of opportunity and the self preservation of SPFL teams?

  19. I will now go and leave you to discuss how expert you all are and how the real experts have it all wrong... Ps. Are any of your teams actually competing this year ?? If not why are you even bothered... and why have your club allowed players to go on loan elsewhere??

Enjoy the rest of  the season, as long as it continues. If/ when the real experts pull the plug then fair enough, while all you "self proclaimed experts" are asking for an end to the season... Forgive me for not listening. Unless any of you can pull a degree in Virology or Public Health out of your pocket....

As I said, too stupid to make his own point.

As it stands the real "experts" are happy to keep football going. However the "experts" on here want it stopped... You tell me who's advice I should take?
