If you have the full match and someone has taken notes for key moments then editing it really shouldn’t take much more than 30 minutes, once the footage has been downloaded.

Not sure the issue but will contact the club and see if I might be able to help(if required). Maybe @SouthStandBairn could help too?

To be fair I used to spend a couple of hours on them but always took a bit of pride in doing a good job. That said I  still normally had them edited, uploaded and scheduled for publishing by 9pm.

Happy to help, however you’d presume BPM’s review must have highlighted most these issues.

Editing takes time: a rule of thumb I was taught when doing the edits for the Millennium Dinner films was one minute of image takes an hour to edit if done properly although highlights are slightly different from a full edit with music etc. I am never going to slag off a volunteer but a bit of investment would improve things and less expectation of early uploads. We don't really need 5 replays of the same goal - which shows it's being taken from the camera and the live stream. Paying someone to do a good job would be c. £50 - I know we are strapped for cash but that is surely findable.

Agree with this point however while the cameraman and commentators are volunteers, these days the highlights are edited (and live stream run) by one of the club’s paid media officers.

Have to say the picture quality of Alloa’s highlights are much better. Not sure how we upload them but should  have been asking for help from people like @LeodhasXDrather than jump on the pile on he received last week when trying to be of assistance. I get if it’s a time constraint for our volunteers but seems it has tried to have been rectified without success then have a pop at another volunteer in the process. If it’s no extra hassle for our volunteers then should be solved for the benefit of our fans and not to have a dig at an Alloa volunteer.

I was responsible for highlights for many years until the end of 2020/21, the ones below were from the same camera that is still used today (the one that you recommend ahead of the Covid season) and I recorded and edited in 4k.

The quality is night and day to what they are producing now, the only reason I can presume is that they are editing from a copy of the live stream rather than by taking a recording directly from the camera - presumably to save time as replays will already be made for them.

Personally I would rather they spent an extra hour editing to get that quality or the quality @LeodhasXD produces for Alloa now as they are miles ahead of ours.

I did get my hopes up when I saw  “high quality highlights” mentioned but sadly no change.

  4. I think yesterday's one was being done live, but only to overseas subscribers. Possibly the clubs have agreed that the home one will always get the broadcasting rights, though that's speculation on my part.

Home clubs own the UK rights to their home games this season. Each club owns their own overseas rights (as they always have done) so both clubs can broadcast to overseas subscribers.
  5. I'd guess the ease of setting up PayPal and passing security on to them was the easiest way to do it quickly and secure.

I was involved in running the 50/50 from the beginning through to the end of last season. Yes PayPal was a more expensive provider than some other options but with that you are paying for PayPal’s reputation and ease of use which was clearly demonstrated in the over £100k it raised.

There are a lot of things we can criticise at the club but is payment provider for the 50/50 really the most pressing issue?

A bigger issue is how we are going to make ends meet now? Sammy might fill some of Alex’s income but that will take time to develop those relationships however you are still left without the majority of your commercial income that was generated by KK. Yes I enjoyed working with him, but whatever your opinion is that it is a lot of sales to replace at a time when we seem to be spending money left, right and centre off the field.
  6. Was confirmed on Facebook that expat fans will have the opportunity to pay per game at the same price as last year.
    I have to ask why?
i am paying over 20 quid a game to watch the same stuff. Our taxes are paying for furlough - expats will all be earning decent coin, they should pay the same as season ticket holders, we are all in the same boat this season. -Watching via FFCTV
If the club offer pay per game  to home based fans at a vastly reduced price as to what I have paid , I will never get a season ticket again.

No way should season ticket holders be mugged off by paying double to watch FFC TV.

Those who have an existing monthly or yearly FTV subscription and kept this running over lockdown will have this honoured - however this is closed to new subscribers.

Prices for home game pay-per-views are being considered by the club just now and season ticket value will be one of the factors considered.
  7. The current site has highlights back to 2010, but I think that's only from when they moved to the new website and YouTube. They used to have a subscription service for £4.99 a month which included full re-runs of particularly good games. I had a subscription to it back in my student days, so 2007 and earlier.

Not sure they did much live streaming in those days, but my knowledge of free proxies is such that they must have done sometimes.

I’ve got almost every game back to 2009/10 in the archive.

We used to do a classic match every week in the early days, from an old collection of Sportscene/scotsport video tapes. Will need to look into digging these out and check what the licensing restrictions are on these.
  8. Have the club put a blackout on the game? No report and no highlights. Want to watch again

Different rules for Cup games, can’t show highlights until after Sportscene has finished or 24 hours after the game if Sportscene isn’t on (like last night).
