  1. Sum up of my day yesterday: Great half time pie, got to boo a torry and we won. Also not allowed to shout and wave my arms about at home so I really enjoyed myself.
  2. I had a clear head on view of Lawal's penalty claim. No way was it a penalty. I think because he is probably the lightest player on the field by a long way the fair challenge with the defender knocked him over. Yes it could have been given on a different day but it would have been lucky. Had it been a more robust player, like Alfie in that challenge he would have probably powered through it and crossed or shot. I have a blind spot when it comes to Lawal. To me his close ball control is really poor, is easily dispossessed and he looks like (and regularly does) trip over his own feet at any given time. He scored a great goal the other week, but I still am very sceptical about his abilities. Maybe in a few years he will mature into a good player but at the moment it is clear, at least to me, why he doesn't start games
  3. Disappointed to hear some homophobic slurrs shouted from an idiot in the middle of the McAllister stand today. Maybe he got lost from that march he was on today. I hope he has a lovely night.
  4. A real game of two halves. 80% possesion in the first half, hanging on in the second. Impressive number of crosses today but most were far too long, hit far too hard or no one with a killer instict up front in the middle to take advantage. We can't go on having shed loads of chances and only scoring 1 in every 20 or so. QOS only had 2 real chances and very nearly scored with both. In saying that, it was an important win today, could make a difference at the end of the season. We would have drawn or lost that game the past 4 seasons. Sign of a decent team - not playing well and still winning. The one time we went direct and had a shot from the middle we scored. Hope McGlynn will take notice that a more direct route through the middle now and again might be the way to go. I can't get out of the house much so I am glad I was there.
  5. Star of the day was the steak pie I had at half time, really tasty if a bit small. The Bovril should be served with a health and safety warning though. I had no idea boiling water could go up to 200 degrees. I spilt some on the concrete and it made a hole.
  6. I think heading the ball will make an exit from the game within maybe the next 10-15 years, I believe there is overwhelming evidence about long term damage from heading. It will take that long to overcome the history and tradition that heading is so much part of the game. Barging a goalkeeper over their own line used to be fine in the 50's and before. Substitutes were never a thing before early 70's (could have the date wrong). Things change. It will be jarring but we will get used to it.
  7. you are probably right. Maybe I didn't think it through enough. Cheers
  8. A random thought: While Lawall scored a good goal during the week, he has never impressed me. He seems to be painfully underweight and, for me at least, is poor at controlling the ball as it comes to him, most times it bounces off him and he is easily dispossessed. Yes he will score a goal here and there after coming on as a sub, but I don't have any confidence he can play a more important roll for us than that.
  9. does the attendance not include every season ticket holder even if they weren't there, not really accurate of actual attendance?
  10. I was at most of the home games in the 70's. I remember great crowds at the start of the decade to three men, their sister and a dug in the middle to late 70's some games. I exaggerate of course but some games must have been less than 1000.
  11. Like most ? of us I am not impressed by McKay but if the guy is trying his best and it's still not good enough, that is not his fault, it's the manager's fault for playing him. All we can ask from anyone in life is they do their best. If he is not doing his best, that's a different story.
  12. Anyone remember Bobby McKell, mid to late 70's. Big goal keeper with a weight problem, probably the largest player I ever saw. Looked like he shouldn't be playing football but wasn't that bad if I remember right.
  13. looks like folks are posting the names of random ex Falkirk players. I'll just leave this here .... Joe McCallan
  14. Well that was my first game for a long time. First thing I must say is, apologies to the singing section with the big drum. Being old, I was expecting them to be annoying but they were in fact brilliant. They made the atmosphere today and more power to them. I was very surprised by how slow, ineffective and lacking in desire we were in the first half. Shocked really. It was as if the instructions were "don't get beat" more than anything else. The second half was good and more in keeping with what I was expecting. McIver's back header seemed to happen in slow motion, Morrison's scorcher was brilliant and Aiden is in just the right place to slot home the third. All in all I'm glad I went and we are off to a good start, albeit with lingering doubts about the low engery slow side ways tippy tappy build up from the back out the the wings which seem to be less than effective. If I can see it and the majority of the crowd can see it too, I hope McGlynn will address this. Onwards and upwards
  15. Many thanks Blame Me. I got through to the club and they talked me through it so I can now get my brother in free. Brilliant. Cheers
  16. Thanks for that. Every time I have phoned the club no one picks up. I would have thought they'd at least keep ticketing manned. I'll try again later. Cheers
  17. My season ticket arrived yesterday !!!! Looking forward to the game on Saturday. My brother has agreed to come with me for the first game as I haven't been out of the house for a long time it and might be a bit overwhelming. You'll be able to recognise me as I will be the older woman as far away from the drum as possible in the KM stand Will there be pay at the gate for my brother, anyone know? I wish I lived in Falkirk it would all be so much easier but I am not that far from Tynecastle so it will be bus and train after this week for me. COYB
  18. Many thanks for this, didn't see that option. Bought and paid for. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  20. Hi. The whole of the Kevin McAlister stand is greyed out, when you dick on it, the message is contact the club shop. I'll keep trying
  21. I am a carer for my disabled partner so rarely get out of the house. A charity in Edinburgh who are for carers asked me if they could do anything for me so I could have some respite and get me out of the house sometimes. I couldn't think of anything I wanted to go to, then I mentioned I've not been to see my beloved Falkirk in a couple of seasons. They are only going to pay for a season ticket for me as I couldn't afford it otherwise. Yippee. They said at least that would make me happy every week or two. I said they obviously don't know about Falkirk then Excited to get out of the house and back to following the Bairns in the flesh, rather than the highlights. Brilliant !!!
  22. I've been trying to buy a season ticket for the Kevin McAllister stand. The website says phone the club shop. No-one answers, same with any other extension. Is Monday day off?
  23. I watched the highlights of the game. While realising it is cherry picked to show the "best" bits, I still saw a number of positive things. Agyeman slippery and forceful run up to our goal was great. It looks like he's going to be a real handful, something we've not had in a good while. The same two standout problems we have were still there though, lame finishing - best demonstrated by Morrison's soft shots which ended up as pass backs to the goal keeper. The other is obviously being statues in defence sometimes leading to letting in needless goals. If these weaknesses are dealt with I can see us doing well this season. Aye but there lies the rub. Is it going to happen? For me the season is full of promise and possibilities. Let's see what happens.
