I think we have potential in our squad. The problem is if a few of our players take a bit of time to come to fruition, a bit like Leahy and Vaulks did. I personally think it maybe another year until we see our squad full propel to the next level. Would love it to be sooner but having some realism here. TOE I think will be a player as will Lewis, Dallison and Brough.

Well after taking into account both half’s, and the other few cup/friendly games my team for next Saturday would be: Fasan McGhee Muirhead Dallison Robson Petra Paton TOE Greenwood Lewis Haber

Absolute rotten again. Where people are getting this optimism from is beyond me at times. Can’t even do the basics right like passing it 5 yards to a team mate. Not going to dramatically improve in a week but can’t allow it to take months upon months.

He signed for a year and we paid money for him. According to some Livi fans they were trying to get rid of him for free and yet we paid money for him.

Said from the day he signed Mackin doesn’t look like a player. Fair enough he has time on his side but he just looks like he would be suited in the juniors or league two. Haber, Lewis and Nelson would be a dream.

Talking about strikers , and it’s probably been discussed before, but why did we let Nathan Austin leave? He didn’t fire on all cylinders last season but no one did. He has proved that when his confidence is up he can score goals at this level. He done it at the tail end of the season before last and is doing it again with ICT. I think he’ll easily get double figures this season.

I thought we looked decent defensively but piss poor going forward. I still cannot fathom why we have signed a player like Dylan Mackin. I get he’s more physical than the rest and is a different option but there must have been other options out there. I was impressed with Petra out wide right and thought he was our best player on the night. Sammut needs game time to get up to playing at a competitive level, he looked well out his depth. Pretty sure not one of his passes went to someone in a yellow shirt. I’m more than happy to keep finding our feet if it means we’re set come Aug 4th because I don’t fancy playing catch up when it comes to the league yet again.

Sums this half up when your centre attacking mid is the furtherest man back heading away crosses. Terrible goal to concede when we were slightly on top.

Hartley stated he wanted 40 goals between his strike pair (20 each). I doubt our strikers, at the moment, could get 20 between them. Lewis however looks promising.

Couldn’t give a shite if we’re a new team. That team still should be capable of beating Montrose..... at home. I don’t buy the “aye but we won every game in the Betfred and look what happened”. Winning breeds confidence, the Betfred last year had nothing to do with us being shite in the league that stemmed from the opener at St Mirren.

Underwhelmed by this signing. Looked rank rotten when I’ve seen him play, but he’ll be given the same chance as everyone else.

That wee trialist up top (Allan I think) was powder puff. Be genuinely gutted if we signed him.

This confirms what we already know: we must strengthen up front and that doesn’t mean signing more younger guys. Need some experience.

Been impressed with Paton. That tackle on GMS was a thing of beauty. Jordan Allan is the other trialists.

If I remember correctly, did Lovell not start playing late November that season and not finish our top goalscorer with 12 or so goals?

Bingham and Mehdi Khalis spring to mind. Farid was just sensational for that one season we had him.

So now that our squad is starting to take shape, who do we think Hartley will choose as captain? Will he stick with Muirhead? Will he give it straight to a new guy? I personally would like to see McGhee take the arm band or Dallison/Harrison (depending who is more suitable to the role). I don’t think Muirhead did much wrong in fairness since taking the armband.
