Really looking forward to my first trip of the season on Saturday, wearing my recently-arrived new shirt and hoping the size of Hampden's pitch can be fully utilised by Cowden's new style of Samba-like football.
Though if I was to have a guess on the result, I'll go for a score draw.
Hope to see a few of you there

Seems like Stenny are definitely missing Harvest

Seeing the names Cowden and Brechin next to each other always brings a smile to my face, with that being my introduction to the club only a year and a half ago with the victory that ended another long spell without success and, I think, acted as the moment that eventually inspired that play-off spirit and survival in the league last year (whilst also serving as my avatar on here as the first sight/image I had from the inside of what is now one of my favourite grounds - despite those bogs on the terrace).
So with an impeccable league record so far at Central Park and the chance of really putting the boys in the mix, what do you reckon the score will be tomorrow?
I never want to be too optimistic with football cos you only set yourself up for a potential fall but am gonna go 1-0 or 2-1 Cowden, and hopefully enter September with a real sense of play-off pushing belief.

As me previous post seemed the ultimate conversation killer, and I didn't take the offer of a lift up north for the weekend, ultimately due to work/United-related commitments, I'll move this thread swiftly on...
Expectations for the weekend fellas?
Although still early in the season, surely it's a big three points at stake considering the lack of goals scored compared to red cards, and another tough division this season. Am going for a 2-0 Cowden win (with one away red card and five home yellows) but with injuries and a threadbare squad, am I expecting too much?
Hopefully the Miners can kick on from here and get a bit of confidence going into the next month or two...

QUESTION TIME PART 187
Maybe a random request on this forum but there's a slight chance I can get to the game on Saturday, yet it's all dependent on getting some digs on Friday night. I've got a potential last-minute lift up later in in the week and a mate's gaff on Saturday sorted if needs be and really need my Cowden fix after a a near six-month absence.
With my search for that money tree proving futile, and accommodation this weekend proving unjustifiable, I'm going to ask...
Is there anyone who can offer us a floor/spare room/couch/shed to kip in or on for Friday night, and make it possible for me to make my pilgrimage to Central Park on Saturday?
With this possibly being the only chance I get to visit Fife's Chicago before 2020, I'd be happy to pay for any hospitality in alcohol and Jamaican cigarettes!

As opposed to the rather disappointing effort that is your namesake - a drifterI didn't even think of those! But you're not wrong. Do they still sell them? Not seen one for years

Teacakes and Wagon Wheels are sh*t. I'm not a huge fan of Caramel Wafers either but they are the best of the three.
In terms of wafer based confectionery, you can't beat a Time Out.
Now that, Mr Owens, is a great shout. Changed the wafer-eating world forever with the Time Out

A Caramel Wafer and a Teacake are two VERY different things.
Indeed they are. Am more of a teacake man meself. Controversial statement time here but am not really a fan of the wafers - taste like feckin cardboard. As for teacakes though...
But then I am the weird bugger who didn't like wagon wheels when every other kid was muching them on the terraces at Old Trafford
So this week's big question.
Given the option, would you take a teacake or wafer?

If I could, I'd much rather watch this Teacake Cup game at Linlithgow's ground than an empty and soulless Tynecastle

So will Cowden be announcing the signing of Gareth Bale before the first game against Elgin or what?
Was speaking to someone in Beath Bargain Store the other day who said he should be unveiled today but still waiting.
If it's a case of getting the financial implications of his contract sorted after the freebie from Madrid, then I went for a piss up a money tree the other day after wandering home from the pub and found a half-eaten pie and a few Iron Brew Humbugs (still wrapped) scattered underneath it. I'd be happy to donate these to the cause if it helps get the deal over the line.
Though if the club's waiting to announce the signing in time for his home debut next week, and the potential of a sell-out crowd at Central Park, then I'd understand that.
But the Cowden faithful demands answers!
Is Gareth Bale signing for the club or what?

So with the cup games over and the league campaign just days away, what now are the hopes and aims for the season ahead? Realistic aims/players/positions still needing recruitment etc?

Being an avid member of the Jordyn Sheeting fan club, I have just one concern. That stunning home shirt is gonna look like a Sheffield Wednesday top when he does eventually squeeze into it for a match!

Surely the fella who inspired that reintroduction deserves a freebie!

Upon hearing this news, am just on me way to pick Drifter up from a hermit asylum where he's refused to be released from until the unveiling of the shirt that was dreamed up a very long year ago. Expect to hear from the fecker soon...

It was a training game at St Andrews and not a "proper" friendly.
Fair enough, that would make sense for not hearing about it!
It's been a long summer!

Frigginell, one of the few weekends I can get to game over the next month or two, easy to get to train-wise *, and I didn't even know about it. Gutted.
Anyway. Be good for Renton to get a few pre-season goals under his belt, hopefully form a decent combination with Allan and have a slim(mer)-line Sheerin as competition for a decent front two, and it might be a good season... in a fine kit.
Now for that keeper...
* Easy as in only seven hours travelling and just four buses, and two trains. Grr

Is there an enclosed ground with facilities to accommodate paying spectators at Oriam?
One seated stand for 500. The Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup under a roof. Would be different I spose, and I hope they dish out free wafers for those who bother turning up

A signing like this could prove the difference between a play-off/promotion push and a struggle at the bottom end, with the goals he can bring. Think Bollan and the club should be doing all they can to snap the lad up for a year as soon as possible before other clubs come sniffing

QUESTION TIME
Can you tell us the funniest and/or most embarrassing incidents you can remember whilst watching Cowden down the years, involving either yourself or a mate? Either at the match or travelling to a game. Pseudonyms can be used if needed!

You could say that! Just. Though only because I was awakened by an image of the team running out next season in black n red-topped socks

I hope Drifter is OK, he's not posted about next season's strips in the last 4 hours.
Did someone mention a new kit? I didn't realise there was one!

What is the keeper situation? What's happened to the Hibs lad, and who's the current back-up?
