  1. I'm hearing Cardle might be of interest to you guys. I hope that is fake news.
  2. Yeah Higgy sometimes just needs to play the easier ball and calm it down slightly. Over complicates things at times.
  3. Hippolyte was strong and looked a handful. Glad to see Andy Ryan scoring and it was a well taken goal. Aiden Connolly looked as good as I hoped he would, tricky, skilful and harried their players. Ryan Williamson did some good work but was caught out a couple of times second half when Peterhead attacked down the left hand side. Some decent foward play and as good result, overall worth the £10 paid.
  4. I had and still have reservations about his ego. He'll have to work hard to get some of the Pars fans onside who still haven't forgiven him for the way he departed last time round. If he doesn't cut the mustard he'll be under pressure given the expectation levels bestowed upon him by those who have those high expectations (me for instance). We'll see what comes along.
  5. 'you lot', wooft. Spanked your hides last time we met with Faiss contributing a fair bit. Hopefully he'll have a run out on Sunday and turn in a decent performance, then over the course of the season. That way he may get another chance in the bigger league. I'll go back to his first period with us. He was adjusting to the game here when he arrived and hadn't played much 11 side football, but you could see his raw qualities. He was improving season on season playing regularly. I said at the time he should have spent another season with us, but he didn't. He may just have to come back to go forward.
  6. Not judging in fairness too harshly, just taking into account his overall career in Scotland. That said I'm over the moon at him being back and I believe AJ will get the best out of him.
  7. Never said that we should be stockpiling players in any position. I just feel that Smith is still too inexperienced, so that's 2 experienced strikers. We'll see what transpires.
  8. I'd say we have 3 out and out strikers on our books, Fassial El Bakhatoui, Andy Ryan and Calum Smith. Fassial El Bakhatoui's record isn't stunning and in reality we're talking 1 exceptional season since he came to us back in 2012-2013 (2 appearances, 0 goals) Scottish First Division. That said he's an undoubted talent with the hope that AJ can get the very best out of him. 2013/2014 season Scottish League 1/Cups, 20 appearances and 4 goals - 2014/2015 season Scottish League 1/Cups, 29 appearances and 9 goals - 2015/2016 season Scottish League 1/Cups, 41 appearances and 30 goals. Faissal at Dundee isn't great reading accepted that albeit it was at a higher level). 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 combined within the Scottish Premiership/Cups 66 appearances and just 8 goals. That's a goal to game ratio of 0.39 per game over his Scottish career. Mainly down to that one fantastic season with us. Andy Ryan has a career total of 60 goals in 194 games in all competitions. That's a goals to game ratio of 0.32 goals within the Scottish game. Chance to shine this season and he will be given game time and we should expect decent service for our strikers. Big hopes for me. Calum Smith's record is Scottish Championship 2016/2017 season he had 3 first team appearances with 0 goals - 2017/2018 Scottish Championship/Cups he had 18 appearances and 3 goals - Scottish League 1 in 2018 with Alloa Athletic, another 14 appearances with a return of 1 goal. He is a young player short on experience , again an udoubted talent and hopefully he's given his chance (measured) to develop and come through as a 1st team regular. And Calum Smith's goal ratio per game is sitting at 0.1 goals per game. Myles Hippolyte is a winger and not an out and out striker but his ratio is a decent 0.18 goals per game ratio over his whole career so far in both England and Scotland. It is generally acknowledged Louis Longridge can play in either position (winger/striker) so yeah, we'll count him in a back up strikers position. Goal to game ratio of 0.14 goals over his whole career. King Higgy has 17 goals in 86 appearances for the Pars, over 2 seasons. He'll chip in as usual. So in summary there's probably a case to argue about signing another out and out striker and then again not, given the aforementioned opinions pointing out our potential array of forward playing talent. Last point though all our 3 strikers are all in some way an inherent risk, albeit a measured risk.
  9. Again, I also think the squad does look good on paper. I also agree that this league is a competetive league and one therefore I think we could potentially struggle if we don't hit the ground running. AJ has met his objectives set by the club and I was one of the doubters around Christmas last season where we were looking like a mid-table team at best. However he is back in charge for the next 2 seasons so I'm behind him. I'm hoping we're able to sign players in January (if required), and hopefully it's additions to strenghten a squad competing at the top of the league and not because we're out of the race. Still think another (out and out) striker can be brought in to give us just that bit more depth up front
  10. Riled not. Stand by what I said about our support though.
  11. Guys a deluded idiot if that's what he's claiming. There are some right w*nkers in our support who do not understand the fundemental basics of supporting the club.
  12. True of both clubs. The fan owned vision for the Pars came about by a fan group initally called The Pars Community. They were a group who came together to provide the basis to take on Gavin Masterton after it was beyond doubt that the club was on it's knees. Pars Alive started as a Facebook page then became the vehicle for various fan groupings to come together and began fund raising etc. All ended up combined as Pars United and we took control of the club. The current Pars Chairman Ross McArthur was instrumental from the start and he was the main driving force for change and he is still the main driver for the future of our club. Under his guidance he has been working to ensure we start earning back respect and trust within the local business community, wider community and the Scottish footballing community. He and many others work for nothing. We're lucky to have him and the other people giving up their lives to keep our club going in the right direction. Fans are emotional creatures full of unrealistic ambitions but it's how we are, and we just take for granted that those running our clubs are acting in it's best interest and that they will continue to fund our expectations. However when things go tits up the only people who are there to arrest the situation are the fans, that's us. I think that the fans have never had a better opportunity than now to become empowered and to come together and win back their clubs. If fans run the clubs as a group it's more likely that they'll make correct decisions to benefit the club. The game in this country is still being run by egotistical, self interested individuals and dubious groups and it's ripe for change. Fans should be taking back what belongs to us.
  13. Not my business but the only way your club will progress is to bring about fan ownership and plan to live within your means. Relying on the next big spender is outdated thinking in the modern game.
  14. Explain further. The "dunfermline way", sounds like a hikers guidebook.
  15. Another good signing for the Pars. AJ is doing well enough overall close season in my opinion. I'm certainly feeling positive about getting started with league business. Can't wait in fact.
  16. Paton is a very skillful player. Willie Miller said of him that he was one of the most naturally gifted young players he'd ever seen at Aberdeen. He also said he suffered from a lack of confidence, but that was many years ago now. For me he's a bit slow but I think he's more than capable of doing a good job for any team in this league. I'd have kept him at EEP.
  17. He's signed up already apparently. Will be announced tomorrow according to what I've read on the Lizzie Facebook page.
  18. It does fit, it's the tune you see, I can hear me singing it in my head just now :-)
