  1. imo this country is sitting on a time bomb with many (not all) of the restrictions that are in place or about to be reintroduced. The lack of any social interaction has sent the suicide rate through the roof. Missed doctor/hospital appointments (2 million missed cancer appointments alone) will cause untold grief. The evidence i have seen is that 75% of the spread is attained through work places, schools, care homes and hospitals. No evidence that sport is a major factor in the spread of the virus. I would rather see players being able to take part in sport with controls and safety measures in place than them seeking alternative less controlled social activities.

Football at our level will die a slow lingering death if we don't get it back soon. People are creatures of habit and once you stop doing anything for a period of time you loose interest and never return. I would imagine a lot of damage has been done already. We do need the fans back asap or most clubs from the championship down to our level will be damaged and in some cases beyond repair. Again at our level i see no reason a few hundred people cant be accommodated in our grounds especially with a few simple protocols to create a safe environment. A few simple changes to allow a couple of hours of joy into peoples current bleak existence.

My point, not necessarily in response to your posts, is that there are a number posts seriously lacking a serious understanding of the issue.

The above highlights this:  "There are major issues around the use of changing rooms and the question of spectators has still to be addressed."

We have football grounds in the West of Scotland where officials are expected to get changed in an enclave of the club's kitchen facilities - without shower facilities.  Kilwinning previously had a tiny room shared with a boiler tank - again, without shower facilities.  That was unacceptable in 2019, and obviously a mental proposition in 2020.

Those are not resolved simply, and the suggestions - by some - of simply turning up in vehicles ready to play/officiate/coach  is just a non-starter.

I would suggest a solution would be to limit the numbers in changing facilities to a number which can adhere to social distance rules. So maybe 4,5 or 6 in the facility at any one time depending on the size of the room. Clean in between groups entering and leaving the facility. Nothing going to be ideal and extra time may be required for certain measures but we need to think outside the box sometimes if we truly want the football to survive.

  3. Some people don't seem to want the football to start anytime soon. Quotes on here stating December, some January, some next summer. This virus will not be gone by any of these dates so what then? I've read experts saying we will have it for the next 2 years and some now saying it will never actually go away and if we develop a vaccine we will need to get it every year. Unfortunately we can only self manage how we go about our lives to minimise our risk. If you think the risk to yourself or your family is to great then don't go, don't play or don't coach/manage its not compulsory. However let the others who can follow the protocols, self distance and be responsible for their own actions move forward with the return of the football. Clubs may find their incomes reduced but will find their feet eventually. Bars and club houses may have to reduce the numbers allowed through the doors but so do all pubs and bars and they seem to be coping. Players will have to adjust to new procedures but so have us all who are back at work. Lets be positive and support the return of football (which I know will be alien to some on here) and if it goes tits up I will be first to hold my hands up and say I got it wrong.

The point I am making what is the difference between 22 players playing at say Ibrox and 22 players playing at Auchinleck

I don’t see any,  so what goes at Ibrox will go at Auchinleck until they change the rules

The point will be as we have seen in the last few months that rules will change and will be relaxed. As we move forward we will have to expect that situations will change and we need to be more fluid in our approach. I expect we will have to accept there will be some problems along the road and react appropriately.

No Boab I want football at all levels to get started as much as anyone on here .

I’m just  being realistic with what we have at present and no matter what is said by anyone on here the JRG are the ones calling the shots

Will give you an example as to what an SPFL club have got to put in place other than testing.

Home team uses the home dressing room, away dressing room and a hospitality areas underneath main stand that runs half the length of the main stand

Away team arrives not at the main entrance to the ground but at an entrance at the other end of the ground and enter the stand behind the goals. Hospitality box’s and a gym that is situated and runs the whole length of this stand is used as their changing rooms. Showing facilities have been installed in this stand for the away team.

After the game all areas that have been used for both teams are deep cleaned.

The home team can use the gym ( deep cleaned after every use ) until 48 hrs before the next home game when it is deep cleaned and sealed off till next away team arrives.

Until the JRG drop the testing and relax these rules for the SPFL there is not a team at our level that could come anywhere near meeting this criteria.

So Boab you could say I’m a glass half empty sort of guy … …  I just think looking at where we are I’m just not getting carried away about football at our level starting anytime soon.

Listen mate I get you but more and more things are returning to something near normality not all of which i agree with either. The example you have given sounds severe and agree no way could our clubs get to that level. However ask yourself does this level of protection exist in your workplace or anybody else's on here. Certainly doesnt exist where i work and we get changed in locker rooms and use shower facilities etc. Football seems to be getting made an example of at the min but if you apply the same rules as we are all subject to i would see no problem getting started. However if teams are not complying and making their environment as safe as possible for both players and spectators then i would agree with you that its not possible to continue.

“ Big Boab Jnr “ will say … … you should be positive and look for solutions rather than have a negative attitude and constantly coming up with negatives … never mid reality.

I guess you like your glass to be half empty. My point is football and sport in general bring huge benefits and should come as a higher priority than some activities that have had concessions granted.

Unfortunately don’t think what we come up with will matter … everything is going through JRG and there is not a lot of leeway coming from them about relaxing regulations

Don't confuse negative attitude with reality

Reality is this virus has to be managed and whether you like it or not shutting everything down is no longer financially viable hence work places, pubs and shops etc are open with risk management in place. None of this is 100% safe but we cannot shut down and hide for ever nor can we wait for a vaccine to maybe come to our rescue. Risk assess, put measures in place and minimise any adverse effects. Nothing that has been put up on here as reasons not to start back cant be managed to a minimal risk level.

Below is prt of the problem for our grade to restart … and until it is addressed we won’t be getting a start date

In addition, the Stenhousemuir chairman is dismayed that the football authorities have not, in his opinion, addressed how part-time players can operate in a Covid-safe "bubble".

"Living in a bubble isn't going to be there for part-time clubs," McMenemy said. "If you're a tradesman you could be in six or seven households a day.

"We've been asking the JRG to come up with a protocol that recognises that but they have failed to bring anything to us. We come under the same conditions as Premiership clubs and that's not possible."

Unfortunately theres no such thing as a covid safe bubble. people in all walks of life now need to manage their lifestyle and find a way to be as practicably safe as possible without impacting their lives to the extent they cannot live a reasonable existence. Again i say we should be positive and look for solutions rather than have a negative attitude and constantly coming up with negatives.

The training ban is not a Scottish Government instruction. It is an SFA instruction.

Surely even the SFA must see the ridiculousness of this situation. A team from a country with a much higher R number than our own allowed to train here when most of our clubs have been banned. In a perverse way this may help aid our return to training and football. IMO we need to find solutions to any problems and obstacles in our way to lead as normal a life as possible and i see no insurmountable reasons that would stop the return of football in this country. Sport and fitness offer huge benefits both physically and mentally and for this it should be escalated to a higher priority rather than other industries which opened up purely for financial gain.

Pictures all over social media and if I really wanted to name names which I don’t by the way I could say who one of my boys plays with and a cousin with a different team . Darvel got caught no one really gives a f**k , move on .

i have no doubt you are correct regarding other teams training but they havent been caught out yet and would think that they would be stupid in the extreme to continue after seeing Darvel being outed. Darvel have courted the media to advance themselves and have been shafted by the very attention they sought and craved. The moral aspect of breaking the rules aside and looking at the football alone i would think this has huge implications for Darvels season ahead. A big fine they could probably handle quite easily judging by the money they have been spending. However a probable points deduction would also be the minimum they can expect to receive. So instead of challenging at the top end of the table they will have an expensively assembled mercenary team possibly having to fight off relegation depending on how the league is initially structured. At the very best they will be a mid table team with nothing to play for until next season. Will the new fans, players and management hang about? So if i was a Darvel fan i would be giving a f**k.

  11. Spoiler

Think in the interest of fairness it has to be a 20 team league or 17 teams with demotion and Darvel, Cumbernauld and Blantyre promoted. How can you crown champions and declare league places and not promote these clubs. Demotion would probable cause a storm and result in this dragging on far to long. It all needs ratified quickly so we can all move on and prepare for football when its deemed safe to return. I have heard quite a few teams are trying to pick off players from Blantyre and Cumbernauld due to the uncertainty. Obviously Darvel are in a different financial position and can afford to speculate.

  12. I said at the start of the season the defence required strengthening. We are still conceding far to many goals and this will ultimately cost us a promotion this season. If we cant find a defender from somewhere to sort this out then we need to adjust our formation somehow.

Took this game in as a neutral hoping for a Lanark win but came away as a Talbot admirer. Sorry Lanark but you never gave yourselves a . chance setting up with a formation like that against a team of Auchinlecks undoubted talent. When you have two very slow CHs do not play with a flat back four with little or no protection. Having said that your keeper probably sold the jerseys with that display and killed any chance you had of making a game of it. Best for Lanark was the left back and your goal scorer. Best for Talbot was the team display which looks powerful and controlled.

And about 5 of our first team were sitting on the bench

Really don't know much about your team selection or players but yes I would say after your subs were made Talbot looked even more threatening.

  15. Agree mate and also a lot to ask of the supporters as well. As for the game we never got going and utd totally deserved their three points. Spoke to a couple of their fans and they were not that confident of a result before kick off as they had lost their captain, half their defence and their main striker to injuries. However they definitely coped better than we did. We must get another couple of players in before this promotion season runs away from us again.

think last night showed our deficiencies. if our midfield are not in complete control of the game we will leak goals. hopefully we can sign at least one more defender and another striker. poor start to the league but we are not a bad team so hopefully a win on Saturday will get us back on track.

u could be on right track bout midfield though, as one of the reasons we beat Cumbernauld at guys meadow is because we totaly bossed the midfield in that game

aye that's my point mate. I think we will have one of the best midfields in the league this season. at guys meadow they stopped Cumbernauld getting at our defence which at the moment lacks pace or creativity.
