  1. We know the threat. It's one guy. Manage him and get the job done Queen's.

Until the last two months, it's all been relatively rosy for this squad in the league. Comfortable title win in L2 then a good start in L1. Let's see the characters and leaders stand up now we're on a poor run.

Agree with most QP fans that we want one sitting midfielder (Gillespie btw!) and as a result more fire power and aggression moving forward. Perhaps hard to justify after conceding 8 goals in three games. Lee Kilday is to blame for that but only in part.

  2. I don’t understand the same post about being near the top so don’t be bothered. It’s November, it means nothing to be near the top. If the poor form continues then we won’t be there when it actually matters. We need to find our best system and starting 11 now.

Really enjoyed our football at the start of the season and thought Ellis had a better football brain than McKinnon. His selection is concerning though and rightfully should be scrutinised. Thomson>Connell and Kilday>Fox in recent weeks especially…

It is bizarre for all of us QP fans. Years of following the team not expecting anything really and just appreciating the effort and wins when they came along. Now with the finance etc we have built up an expectation. New space for us all. Need to stick together.

    Peterhead 8

    Falkirk 8

Get nothing for being top in October/November. If we don't improve quickly we'll be mid table at Christmas.

Agreed. But was it a red?

I think it was a red. He lost control and endangered a player. Abandoned his teammates against our title challengers. Not sure what egos are like in the dressing room but I hope someone pins him up against a wall. He’s not the star man for me.

  5. Right buzzing for this one. Had a similar feeling for the Falkirk game. Still confident it'll be us three come the end of the season.

I think we were lucky against Falkirk. They were better and missed their pen. A moment of brilliance won us the points. Some decent defending that day too but Falkirk generally better. Cove were also better than us in the opening exchanges at Firhill. Fyvie was dictating everything before his red card. Expecting a very tough game. Yet to see us take any points at Cove Bay so fingers crossed. I don't think we've even scored 🙃

Connell to start please Ellis. Not keen on the Gillespie/Thomson double pivot anymore. There's other areas to prioritise come the windows but I'd like to see someone else beside Gillespie. Lyon hasn't played much football so no real confidence there either.

Visions of McAllister and Megginson floating around Lee Kilday. Major fear.

He first got one, then got two, we want three from Bob McHugh.

  6. I wasn’t keen on Morrison for his forward play. I felt that we were a ball playing team and Ellis wanted us building from the back so it was an issue. The truth is Morrison has pace and can defend. First and foremost you want a defender to defend and then the ability to play out from the back is a bonus. I’m actually now looking forward to getting Morrison back in the side.

  7. Kilday has been woeful. Our defensive record since his return has been abysmal and he’s directly to blame for many conceded. Foxy didn’t cover himself in glory today either. Extremely poor defending for the 90 but a defeat has been coming I reckon. Serious scrutiny and accountability required for the defending.

Really happy for Bob getting his 2 good goals.

Amazing scenes to get the 3rd but heartbreaking how it ended. Great game for the neutral.

I think Jack Thompson has had 1 good game in a QP jersey? I was delighted to get Luca back but I’ll not be wanting Jack back.

A lot of kids invited to the game today. Learn the heartache of football early guys 😂

You want to talk us through our 2nd goal on Saturday emoji848.png

Tommy seen Foxy and Kilday both still in the box so the smart thing was to launch it in there. The rest of the game was high balls for McHugh. It was hopeless. We cant play quick passing football with McHugh on either so you see the issue.

Ellis should try the Pep Guardiola false 9 system, that would be interesting at our level....

  9. Right chuffed with yesterday. Not much to say about the first half. Cross balls to McHugh isn’t very inventive. He got a few flicks but none with any conviction.

We looked liked a professional outfit in the second half. Dumbarton chucked it after the second really. Longridge assist for the third goal was lovely 🤤

We’ve got McHugh, super Bob McHugh…

My only moan is time wasting in the corner 3-0 up. What a joke that is 😂

I'd be going for the win at Killie and not resting too many; I'm not a fan of dismissing this tournament.  Unless we lose, of course.

Couldn’t agree more. I cringe when I see lower league fans dismiss this cup and act snooty. How can lower league fans look down on any cup competition? Should support the ugly sisters with that attitude. I’m sure fans will be interested if their team got to a final.

  11. Huffed and puffed today but no real energy or quality. Simon and Bob aren’t effective at all. I’ve never watched them play and think they link well or have any chemistry. Both doing their own thing, and it’s not scoring goals. Also tricky when there isn’t a striker to come on from the bench. Need to be in the market for one or hopefully Baynham returns soon.

Kilday looks really off the pace. Same as last week. Totally expected since he was injured but he needs to sort himself out quick.

Chuffed for Smith getting his first goal. The pass from Doyle was great.

The good news is we’re top of the league after quarter 1. I can’t see us holding that in the long run but we’re up there fighting.

Queen's used to do the equivalent back in the 90s upstairs in the old portacabins when the South Stand was getting built. It was basically self service with a fridge full of beer and wine, plus bottles of whatever spirit you fancied. Then Queen's put the prices up and started limiting the sesh because "folk were taking advantage of it"...eh well of course we were, that was the whole point of going!

I'd buy a ticket for that. Stenny is a formal event, suit/dress etc and a level of decorum is expected but a full drinking session is offered (starting to sound like Stenny PR). I think that's what most 18+ Scottish football fans want from a hospitality day out.

I'd be stunned if they manage to keep the hospitality attendance at decent numbers. Maybe some people fancy it now but it'll pass. I certainly don't jump at the current package.

It’s £17 admission, so £23/33 for something to eat and a few beers isn’t that bad imo. Club has to make money, so there has to be a balance between it being reasonable and making it worthwhile enough to run a profit.

A ST/Member has already paid for their admission so its really £40 for something to eat and a few beers.  £50 for a ticket, beers and food.

Stenny has a popular hospitality package. It's £75 per head but it's a three course meal, complimentary bar with a load of extras. Would absolutely have a shot at that if it was my club.

Very important game for us in terms of maintaining momentum stopping us going into a real slump in form. I fully believe we’ll win the game but Ellis really needs to nail his lineup. I’d go for this:

                                    Muir

    Doyle           Kilday           Fox           Robson

                                  Gillespie
                     Brown                Connell

    Smith                     Murray            Longridge

I’ve noticed people saying brown is off form. I personally wouldn’t say he’s necessarily out of form, i feel like he’s set the bar so high from his early performances that there’s now an expectancy for him to be the main man. With Connell in the team, you’d hope the opposition would need to occupy their attention on both players instead of Brown solely. It’s clear opposition set out to stop Brown playing and dictating play. Paul sheerin stated in his post match interview after the Falkirk game that he set up the team to nullify the impact of Brown and you can tell Airdrie and Clyde have followed suit. Hoping to see Smith start as he’s looked brilliant any time I’ve seen him so far, made a great impact against Clyde

This would be my starting 11 if possible. I do agree Liam is being drowned out by other teams (also think form is measured based on capability so he is still out of form even if the bar is high).  Connell in a more forward role would help take some pressure off Liam to create everything. I don't think we need two sitting midfielders (Gillespie and Thomson). They switch it up well in the sense when one pushes forward the other one can sit but Jack isn't offering anything close to Connell. I'd like to see Gillespie sitting and dictating play with Luca and Liam floating around the edge of the opposition box, as above.

We have a much younger back line this year have been on the wrong end of decisions from officials a number of times which we have been punished for big time. Think we need to push up & close teams down as early as possible. At times we have been playing well but not for 90mins at a time. We need a break to get back on track saturday is as good a time as any for it to happen.

I am fortunate that i can take the car to away games, we used to get some seats on the team bus but that is obviously not an option now for those that used it, good that some realise the effort involved in following the team some supporters think its the major trek if its an hour travel to a game. I will have completed my tour of Firhill at this game as have been in the Main Stand & the Away End at previous games against Thistle

I enjoy watching Open Goal most weeks. Si Ferry seems like a good character to have around the place. He often speaks about how well you keep possession but haven't got the breaks. Is he a player/coach now?

  16. Back to winning ways on Saturday I hope. Unbeaten run is class but the draws are stacking up. I'd start Connell in a heartbeat. Jack Thomson is a good back up but he wont help drive a title challenge. His defending for Clyde's fist goal was poor. Kilday back in with Doyle replacing Gillies would be a boost. McHugh on the bench too. Doesn't deserve a start. Plenty of young players watching with flare that could do a better job.

I'm a big Liam Brown fan but he's off form imo. What a start to the season he had but that's fell away of late. An in form Liam Brown makes a big difference to our team.

Stunned by the amount of penalties against Peterhead lately. More time spent in your own box means a higher chance of conceding pens though.

    1-0 win for QP.

Respect in advance to all travelling Peterhead fans. Got to respect that travel every second week.

  17. Draw was probably fair. We were poor again. Third week in a row. Somehow still top of the league. Cheers to that. Need to pick it up if we’re to challenge this year.

So surprising from Willie. Very unlike him. Hardly ever makes a mistake. We move on.

Young lads looked lively. Need more game time than some of the starters at the moment.

There is no doubt about it, Goodwillie is a predator on and off the pitch.
