To kill the time between now and K.O. I'll be keeping an eye on the scores in the English Championship. Not at all interested in what is happening at the top of the table but for Will Vaulks' sake I hope that Sheffield Wednesday manage to avoid relegation.

Are falkirk tv keeping the cameras rolling so all the exiled bairns can see us lift the cup

    7 v 1 and the title. What a team!

Great teams don’t just win a title they steamroller there way to it.

Never doubted them and wish I had put a bet on the invincible prediction I mentioned on here back in early November. COYB

We could/ should have been 4 or 5 up at half time with the amount of clear chances we created!

On another day we could have won by 5 or 6 we were so far ahead as a team . However getting it wide and slinging balls in for Mciver continually to hopefully head home is a bit naive. ( and it seemed like our only plan. )Bottom line is that Annan had us sussed and dealt with our arial threat very well. As good as McIver is , he rarely smashes a ball into the net with his head or feet and is generally a link up man who,s main contribution is lay offs and  excellent flick ons.
Id love him to kick on and be a real no 9 and I believe he has it in him but too succeed but he will need to get a lot more aggressive and add a nasty edge to his game. Give him a few videos off Ally Mccoist to study as he continually fouled pushed shoved or kicked his way to make space in the box.

We would’ve won if Morrison was on at HT btw - why was he on the bench? Another disgraceful decision if he was fit enough to come on at any point but didn’t.

For me the pedestrian pace we played at causes our problems  first half -in particular we missed McCann and Yeats energy down the flanks. In addition I’ve never seen Allan do anything to justify signing him .Shanley looks to offer a lot more  up top and should now cement his role to be back up  striker.
john McGlynns believe that his bench could all play championship football  looks ludicrous now given they were out fought by a bunch of kids!

Not a big deal, but there was a Kelty punt that was about ten hundred feet in the air into our box, and I was mightily impressed at how our young keeper came and took it as clean as a whistle.

Yeah the keeper is destined for a top career he gets more confident each week . I have to admit I was wrong about young Finn at right back . He also seems to get better with each game and is turning into a real asset.
long May this form continue . Can we begin to dream of an ‘invincible ‘ season ?

I just got in having driven to the Lakes after the match. Thought that was as easy as Thistle last year. Nesbitt was fantastic, I hope folk change their opinion of him this year. Had we started our strongest lineup that would have been a massacre.

I’m glad we didn’t have any injuries. On reflection we could have beaten this mob with the young team and a few bench warmers. Don’t think Our keeper had a save to make.Truth is Ayr are not and never have been a bigger club than us . I really don’t believe there’s any difference between league 1 & most of the championship

That’s why I said earlier that if there is any cash to bring in a loan player it would be another front man for me. Allan is fine and can do a job off the bench but not as a lone striker from the start.

Sorry I don’t get the Allan is fine bit at all . Tonight he was our worst player. He suits a team who sit in & play on the break but for us he’s been v poor in almost every game he’s played.Yes he snatched a late goal at Cove but I’m sorry I just don’t see that he offers much !

TBH I think I'd probably start young Walker (assuming he's a natural left winger). Would keep the balance of the team right and would give him valuable experience. If we can't play him against the bottom team...

Sorry Walker won’t play today. Not good enough or strong enough to start .The manager will only bring him on if we are 2 or 3 up. I would like to see him get 20 mins so we can judge better but I suspect he’s not ready yet.

Agree but I don’t think we will win any leagues leaving the back door wide open. The part time teams are capable of setting up to be hard to beat and bet on converting a couple of lucky chances to get something from the game.

3  or 4 up front at times in the first half - great play and point made I think !!

Agree with this. I think he’s brought in decent players. Spencer looks a touch of class on the ball. Would only question the need for him when we have McGinn and no right back or combative midfielder but certainly a very good player.

Ageyman is the kind of player I love, just like Morrison who I feel gets unnecessary stick when he’s practically the same type of player.

Miller looks a good addition but again would question his need when we re-signed Nesbitt.

McIver I also like. Missed a player who can get the kind of scrappy goals he gets. Always seems to be in the right place at the right time and gives defenders a real handful in the air.

Lang looks solid but he’s not the leader I hoped he would be. If he was alongside a McCracken or Den Bieman type then think he’d be excellent. Not sure his positional sense is what it should be and looks like he has the potential for a sudden loss in concentration. That said, I do think our defence under McGlynn has been exposed by the midfield and full backs getting caught too far up the park and not tracking runners. Badly need someone in midfield who gets stuck in and can read the game well so we don’t leave ourselves vulnerable to a counter attack.

We want the midfield & fullbacks up the pitch whenever possible - once we start worrying about counterattacks from league 1 part timers then we’d be better off playing to avoid relegation. This league is full of shit that we should be able to blow away. So let’s have all out attack , goals and goalmouth action I’d rather play 3 up front than persist with 1.

Don't understand why McGlynn doesn't just drop Henderson into centre back move Lang to the right sided centre back and bring on a midfielder, Mckay should be nowhere near the team.

Henderson is too weak at centre back as he demonstrated at the beginning of last season when he got ragged dolled most weeks .Much more suited to midfield. McKay is not great but is basically just cover behind lang , Donaldson & Mackie. Let’s pray that Donaldson is not out for long

Today demonstrated how important it is to get the first goal against this type of team.

Completely screws their match plan when they have to chase the game.

As an aside just how awful was their goalkeeper.

Yes their keeper was terrible with the ball at his feet. Great second half today. I am due an apology to Finn Yates as I thought he was excellent For the record so was Donaldson  I think lang being beside him helps him immensely. Let’s keep it up & stuff that wee shite next week!

We definitely need a RB, although young Finn has been fine so far, however, if we had done we would still have needed to sign someone for the Miller role, someone who presumably would be cheaper and not as good.

Don't see your point re Allan really. You're saying that he shouldn't have signed Allan, who he wanted to sign but should have waited to sign another striker that he wanted to sign??

Also 'some' of Nesbitt's wages would have been unlikely to sign anyone that we could see as a starter. He's a squad player and we need a squad.

I believe contract extensions are normally triggered on number of games played. Oliver is a decent squad player at this level IMO and most of us were happy to offer McGinn any kind of extension that he wanted when he signed.

As things stand the lack of a natural RB hasn't cost us anything in terms of goals lost I don't think with the blunders coming from Lang and Long so, as you say, time will tell if it costs us or not and, hopefully we can still get a RB on loan.

I’ve been away from this forum over the close season my gut feeling from the few games I’ve seen is we are about the same as last year and it’s 50/50 whether we will go up or not.( depends on how shit the completion are ) The one thing that surprises me not only the absence of a right back but the plaudits given to Finn as a stand in . I get it that he’s still young but IMO he’s not yet good enough to play first team football & certainly not at RB . We need to dip into the loan market soon and get someone with an engine who can beat a man and put in a cross.

A step up in quality from the likes of MacIver? I'd like to think McGlynn will manage it.

What we need is bigger guys who can dish the dirt . I have had enough of prancing lightweight midgets  being tossed aside by the opposition .MacIver is strong & awkward and will create opportunities for others .Now we need a bruiser centre half and a a centre mid who can leave his studs in where it hurts. We have enough football players already and IMO this signing is a step in the right direction at redressing the balance between ball players and brute strength that cost is everything last year .

I think McGlynnball has a place but I want a strong plan B. If it’s not working against a weaker side that’s well drilled then resort to the direct stuff (with the right personnel). In fact, I’d make plan B plan A against stronger opposition and go direct. Just go toe-to-toe. Dunfermline lapped it up against us this season. Let’s give a challenger something to think about.I wouldn’t be against Connor Sammon coming back for 10-12 games next season as a strong plan B. I don’t see a plan C being required in L1. Plan A…..Plan B if necessary….if that isn’t enough then we’re stuck.

The problem all season has been we are soft as shite and our match winner ( Morrison ) shits it when it matters. I was never really convinced by McGlynn as it’s obvious from his weekly sermons that he is thick as shit and doesn’t have the respect of the players- however expect the unexpected. On Saturday we can win 4-0 it’s just v unlikely. To save his neck McGlynn should go for it with 3 up top right from the start  with Henderson one of them and forget the tippy tippy just get the ball in the box and fight . I don’t give a shit if we get beat 8-0 I’d rather that than possession football in our half for 70% of the time we have possesion - just fuckin go for it or gtf.

Oliver goes back in for the playoffs IMO. Very much onwards for me. I think we will progress. Obviously I hope we will. Today was a bonus, where ultimately the difference in the respective final thirds was way too much. Inverness were well organised an good value for that but anyone that thinks we embarrassed ourselves or anything like that is at it.

Bring on the playoffs now. Honestly can't wait to be playing to go up.

Need to drop Morrison he never beat his man once today.I would bring in Oliver play with Kennedy as the only winger and give him the freedom to drift where he wants .

Its pretty obvious we are very lightweight and struggle to deal with the stronger sides Poor
