Imagine we’ll still see a bit of movement in and out of the club in the next few weeks.
Our squads decent so no need to rush, but adding a couple players of quality could make all the difference.

Sam Nicholson still a target.

2-2 draw with Bristol City yesterday at St Andrews
Glass with one of the goals. Hall played as a trialist beside Frans in central defence. Booth and Matty Smith never played.

Sow injured for at least another 10 days

He’ll do more than just score goals this season.
2 goals & 2 assists in 3 games so far, is it?That’s what I make it.
Including his goal at Dumbarton that’s 3 headers in his first 4 starts. Never realised he was so good in the air. Boy’s got bit of everything, maybe not blistering pace but he’s sharp and anticipates things. Strong with a good first touch. Thought he was a great signing at the time and so far he’s showing it.

Shankland is going to be a key player this season. Worth every penny of his 20 grand a week wages.

Full backs and wingers linking pretty well on both sides.

1-0 United. Sporle, great assist from Shankland

That’s putting it politely.

Yeah I’d be happy to sign him. What you getting all wound up about?
What a state to get in about a Dundee Utd fan saying they’d be happy if his club signed a player they’re linked with!

Heard we’re still interested in May. Can only assume that either Sow is on his way out or we’re committed to playing two up front this season.
Id be happy to sign him to be honest, would be good with Shankland I think.

Worried about our midfield, Harkes was brutal tonight. Early days for King obviously but...
Right now I’d be playing Butcher and Stanton in there.
Thought Appere looked good in spells but faded badly, Chalmers bit hot and cold too but couple great bits of skill.
Shankland makes good runs but we rarely found him. He did well for Butcher’s goal and worked hard throughout, good that he got 90 minutes and he will get sharper.

Bouhenna away?
Apparently so.
After watching how uncomfortable both Connolly and Reynolds were in possession tonight, I really hope we are bringing in a centre half who can bring a ball down and play a pass

Anyway, team for Tuesday?
I’d keep same back 5, any 2 from Butcher, Harkes and King as the 2 in midfield. McMullen and either Appere/Banks on wings with Cammy smith behind Shankland

FWIW the rumours linking you with May are gaining traction. Apparently offered him twice as much as we have
We’re definitely in for him and though I’d be happy to have him, I do find it a bit strange given the squad we already have

What’s the best pub for Utd fans tomorrow before the game?
Roseburn Bar?

That is a smart strip. Buy one for my daughter every year but think I might treat myself to this one too!

Neilson doesn’t rate Booth so likely that he’ll be moved on if a club want him.
Expect Glass and M Smith to go out on loan.

Shankland just couldn’t turn a club of United’s size down. Simple as that.

I’m happy to go with Shankland, Clark and Sow, plus Appere or Chalmers. If we are bringing in May then I would lose Sow before Clark.

Ross Graham should definitely go on loan. We have plenty cover at centre back and a full season at a league 1 or league 2 club would be great for his development.

Sure I read Mochrie is staying on at school after the summer to do Highers, so probably just be staying with united rather than going on loan - unless to one of the local clubs.
I think we need to keep one of Chalmers or Appere as 4th choice striker. Think Matty Smith probably needs to leave permanently for the good of his career.
if as expected we sign another winger/attacking midfielder then Banks and Glass will probably be loaned out too

I’m happy with our options up front
clark, shankland and sow backed up by Appere and Chalmers should be fine for the season ahead. Possibly put one of the youngsters out on loan until January.
Hoping we’ll be playing 2 strikers up top in at least some games this season. Think Shankland with Clark/Sow would bring plenty goals.

Friday night is actually my preferred time for a United game. Quite like getting out the way and having a stress free weekend!!

Do like Bouhenna but if he’s no happy and we’re getting a fee then he’ll be away. No sure who fills in for Butcher now if he’s unavailable? Can King play as a holding midfielder?
