Baird, Jacobs, Lyon, Cadden, Nesbitt, King, McHugh/Sutton go straight into your team, no problem, despite what you saw yesterday. That’s why the focus is on the manger.

Who is your no. 5, btw?

No 5 is our Thomas O'Brien, cape to us from Forfar, definitely one of our best signings

Why not just get behind whoever the manager plays. No-one else is slotting the ball away now and again. We all want Doris to score but alas he does not when he plays. Spence started the session well but is not scoring. Donnelly and Linn are winning us points with few others getting goals so the manager is not keeping a match winner out it the team but just having a problem finding one.
Why not give it a break and get behind the team in a very difficult league.

Believe it or not im I'm agreement with every statement made there, but thanks for the "give it a break" - I'll keep my light hearted jokes for another thread 😂👍🏻

Not celebrating anything he's clearly responding to the post above his?

Sorry didn't realise You were his body guard, it was clearly a light hearted joke, silly me for forgetting you don't have a sense of humour.

pretty sure if I said the grass was green today you'd come back with actually it was emerald 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ps I thought Donnelly done ok today wasn't disputing that

Donnely won 3 headers, right in front of me ,in the second half.

We now celebrate Donnelly winning three headers 😂😂

miko motm for me also and Stewart looked decent for being out. Still not liking dick not knowing his starting xl and chopping and changing.

bobbys goal was class but wasn't his best game

Well it's good to agree then. But it's not only the midfielders job to create chances I don't see any of the front 3 being up to doing it

Getting to the point where I would put McKenna upfront, atleast he would run about relentlessly for 90 minutes, put pressure on the defenders and take us up the park a bit more with Gold out on the right

As was stated above it's hard for strikers to create chances if the balls just getting lumped up. Old school tactics like in my day you play it from the back on the ground which to get to the strikers needs to go through the motions first.

I'd give McKenna a punt, not much to lose, he's definitely not a winger or even play him in a role just behind a striker

Yes well I clearly have accepted that so no idea what we're on about

Doris, Spence and Donnelly have struggled scoring in League 1 too by the way

We are weaker than last season as a first 11 after losing Wallace, he didn't only score but created so many chances

I'm clearly stating looking at the past doesn't help the present.

I didn't mention anything about our strikers having good records so don't know why your preaching that to me.

I simply stated I agreed out midfield lacked creativity 🤦🏻‍♂️

Literally blew teams away last season at the top of the league and our strikers (that are still at the club) hardly scored

And did I dispute that? We are a level up now, times have changed and time you accepted that. Our midfield can't get away with what they did last season.

Yes our strikers have a poor record at the moment but could that be due to Campbell not knowing his starting xl and constant chopping and changing no ones settling. Strikers need a run at it regardless who it is non of our three have really had that.

I am a Clyde supporter & was up to see the game yesterday. I was interested to read all the comments re lack of goals from your strikers. I know you’re on a bad run after a great start to the season but based on yesterday’s game I don’t see what the strikers are meant to do when every ball up to them is a high aimless ball from the goalie or captain no. 5 . There was no build up play or chances created for them. This must be the manager’s preferred style of play but it must be hard being a striker when that’s the service they get.

Although I wasn't at the game I can only imagine. I'm glad someone else is seeing it Yet it's always our strikers who seem to get the brunt

My point is that this season we are playing with one up front, regardless of what the manager may say about playing two up front, and the only out ball we have is to give it to Bobby Linn. No striker can score goals if the team don't create any goalscoring chances. So if you bring in a striker on loan you will have to get your midfield to be a bit more creative. And if they start to be more creative maybe the forwards we have will be able to take any chances and start scoring. Bobby Linn cannot do it all, all the time.

100% agree and also bobby hasn't been on his game the last few weeks when we rely on him so heavily, Harry Kane would find it hard scoring goals for us at the minute with the lack of creativity created in midfield

Absolute non-event of a game from an Arbroath point of view. As mentioned we have a good, well organised defence but this is completely cancelled out by the fact we offer nothing going forward. Surprised to see Virtanen getting so many MOTM shouts, didn’t think he was very special and thought Stirling was just as good, if not better. Whatley and Murphy need to be our starting pairing IMO.

100% agree, was starting to think I'd had one too many pints as I just didn't think he showed much at all

  11. Thought we missed whatley and murphy in midfield today although glad to see gold back... hoping he isn't out next week as went down just before half time?

Young loanees done fine, although it felt forced for me dick trying to accommodate them (in reality he has to or we won't get a chance to get loans in the future as they could sit on the bench anywhere) when IMO we had better opinions of our own on the bench. People also saying miko was our man of the match must be on drugs if anything thought Stirling had a better game than him!

Poor result although confirmed a few things or me, Stevie should 100% start over Donnelly - we maybe didn't score but even his presence, working the defenders, winning balls, creating passes is something I didn't see last week.

Dick doesn't know his best 11 and he needs to work it out for us to pick up points rather than changing so much. in dick we trust!!!

  12. Agreed we don't have much of an attacking threat, even more of a defensive midfield but if anyone can cause the defenders problems it is Stevie . Would like to see him upfront with Spence but pigs are more likely to fly than having two upfront.

Donkelly had another shocker - can't hold the ball, gets smaller when he tries to win anything in the air, bullied continuously by defenders, linked up a few passes and has scored a few goals, I've actually found him uncomfortable to watch as of recent - decent guy just not gelling at the min imo

  13. Totally disappointing/ embarrassing today.

question is were we just having an off day or were we just completely exposed by ayr?! IMO everyone played poor, how we picked a motm I'll never know, ball boy deserves it.

The substitutions were mind blowing, we are losing 3-0 what do we have to lose by going two up top? Dick seems determined to "use" these loan players - keeping their clubs happy/ all midfielders happy, didn't work today. I've always trusted in dick but today was wrong. If it's true that goldie swanned off on holiday then he deserved to be benched. Mikeys dive was the cherry on the cake of today for me - shocking.

It's not nearly the same and you know it

I'd be happy to see Doris play upfront

But if he doesn't, yourself or gone fishing will slag whoever has played upfront.... and if he does and doesn't have a great game the comment will be that there's no creativity in midfield.

There's literally been years of it (obviously it was big litchie before he changed his profile to gone fishing)

All for giving Doris a shot

It's not as if him or any of our strikers have a good scoring record, Doris hasn't scored a league goal for nearly a year, Spence has 0 since joining and Donnelly only has 1

Think you need to stop tarring people with the same brush, clearly stated Spence done well on Saturday on my post prior 🤷🏻‍♂️ and cannot think of a time I'd debated the midfields lack of creativity.

Aslong as we win on Saturday I couldn't give a monkeys who played in which position if a win means a harmonious gone fishing and 1320 up front I'd take it.
