1. Eh? Of course it’s the board’s job to pick a new manager. They will be privy to information fans aren’t aware of. What a ridiculous point to try and make.
No, ridiculous is where you reply to a post you have not read properly, or don't wish to. After all it's so nice to indulge yourself in negativity and shun any responsibility.
2. It’s not his job to pick the manager. It winds me up when fans expect other fans to name who would/should take the job when calling for a managers head, just because a fan can’t name a replacement doesn’t mean one isn’t out there. How many Albion fans would have named Harper early in the season when they were getting pumped every week?
So your position is that the board are wise enough to pick a manager but if they pick the one they have already got they are dimwits? And you're entitled to carp and criticise but if anybody asks you for an alternative that's not your job?

Makes me wonder why anybody would want to be on an FC board. The only theory I can come up with is that they must love the club and have very thick skins.
3. For those that couldn't be arsed to detach themselves from their keyboard only a week past Saturday, the Chairman elect, on behalf of the board, gave backing to the manager; who was also there to be open to all the questions. I guess some posters were there? Hard to say, I didn't hear any of the observations or questions here from the brave men here mostly articulated (only) from behind said keyboards.

Talking of bravery, at the time both guys stood up there, not knowing who would turn up, or what they might be asked, we were one point behind Albion. That's still the case, why the need for another statement? Must this be weekly to keep some folks happy? Daily??

Hey, credit where its due; and hang your head in shame posting vitreolic stuff on here about Board commitment if you could have been there, but didn't go.
Fergie1, I tried something approaching conciliatory, but your response confirmed that you're a reactionary numbskull who (should have) lost the right to make comment about our football club when you called for fans to boycott the next matches; what planet are you on.
Hard words but true I'm afraid. In the old days the moaners would moan into their beer with no harm done. Nowadays it's online, and the kids live online so all the players get to read all of this. It's not good for morale & it's not helping JH at all. So let's get behind him & the team.
4. I’ve followed Berwick for 25 years and this is easily the worst team I’ve watched at Shielfield. Incapable of defending, no creativity in midfield and no threat up front. It hardly takes a genius to work out why we are going to go out of the league.
In defence of the players,  they have actually put effort in throughout the season and tbh I can’t think of many games where they haven’t tried to compete.  Ultimately, most of them are just out of their depth and lack the quality needed to play league football.
Imo Harvey should count himself lucky to be in a job, his record since taking over has been awful and doesn’t look like improving any time soon. He has sent back Scott and didn’t replace him. He has sent back Hamilton and didn’t replace him. Sold Willis and didn’t replace him. Countless errors which have contributed to this mess.
A mess which, I’m sure most fans agree, began in the boardroom some years ago. Over the last few years, imo,  the directors have been putting their own interests before the club, taking their eye off what really matters, like devising a strategy to make sure the club is stable and can grow. Therefore, imo, they are the one who must be held accountable for this situation.
There’s not a chance I’m paying £12 to watch lowland league football next season, regardless of how well we do at that level. They can sell it anyway they want but we are the ones who are going to be suffering from their mismanagement.
Ultimately, the club needs investment ASAP and should be the priority of the incoming chairman and current directors. I will continue to do “my bit” for the club but I want this club playing league football. I’ve no interest if it’s gonna be downsized to function at a lower level. I just hope the current board share my aspirations.
How are the directors putting their own interests above those of the club? What huge benefits accrue to being in the BRFC board? I'd love to know.
5. I'll back the board on this; we as fans don't know the full picture, we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, we don't know what the board and Harvey are telling eachother, what the finances are, what everyone thinks.
It's easy to assume the board is lazy, but the fact of the matter, which goes for every boardroom out there, is that there is much more at play than 'Oh we can't be arsed to sack him'.
Well said. It's easy to criticise when you don't know all the facts and don't have the responsibility. In the end the board are fans too. Why would they do it otherwise?

6. The final score was 6-0 FFS, that’s all that matters. You sound as bad as the manager creaming yourselves over how good you were in the first half. If you lose 6-0 it tends to cloud over the first half performance.
Yes it does tend to cloud over things initially, but whatever we do in life we all have our 0-6 days. It is not 'all that matters'. What matters is that we pick ourselves up off the floor and get behind the team. There's only a month to go now. The first half showed what they can do. We need to cheer the team over the line.
7. Well said, everyone is entitled to opinion, and in my opinion, @Blue Oktober , however well intended has, perhaps inadvertently, crossed the line for a social media post.
Fergie 1, you're spot-on, nothing on here should be personal, whether you support the current first team group or not. My view is not personal either in support of the status quo, albeit you keep calling me out to 'support the manager now'.

He's a major component in an engine that's not the best in quality of components. If you feel one component is sub-standard, you have a replacement (of equal or better quality) ready to swap them out. Remove it with no such replacement, the engine fails.

The part we need is a demonstrably experienced manager, that will immediately integrate with the other moving parts, all with individual complexities of skill and emotion, and improve performance.

I don't see all these critical boxes being ticked at this late stage so, for me; and I still think this group can maintain our league status, we stop pushing for 11th hour change (although god knows, everyone has the right to) and get behind our team, in it's current form and, to use the Trust mantra, be the 12th man.

Future? Who knows. I do know that next season's board have a sound plan with a sound fiscal core and realistic objectives. That element is building positively, IMHO again; who knows either whether Johnny will be part of that?

I admire the guys work ethic and passion; maybe Jaguar Parts Division will make an early season delivery. I'm just not sure we have the funds.
There seems to be a lot of panicking on here. Before JH arrived we seemed to be invariably 2-0 down before the 20 min mark. Saturday's first half was great and there's no way he could have known they would lose a quick goal in the second so he needed to prep them up about resilience and bouncing back. We can all be brilliant with hindsight.

My main point is that right now we have 4 games to go. We need to get behind the team. Nothing else matters.

8. Blah blah blah same old shite
I believe JH is the man for the job. We need to get behind him. Carping is no good to anyone.

JH did not dig the hole the club is in it was there when he arrived. He had a good record in his previous job so the notion he can't motivate a team is absurd. The team is miles better than when he arrived but their luck has been abysmal.

The first half today was great. I don't know what JH said to them at half time but there is no way he could have foreseen how the second half was going to start so it's not his fault. If the first goal had come
at the end of the first half rather than beginning of the second he would have got them sorted. The timing was just sheer bad luck again.

I can't see Albion avoiding defeat in their next two games against Peterhead and Edinburgh. So that means they have 2 games left to save themselves and we have 4.

So it's not all bad! Cheer up!

(And so far as I am aware Jose Mourinho is unavailable).
