  1. Enjoy MOH as Randomguy says he can play a number of positions attacking wingback emphasis on attacking, Striker but hid best positions are No 10 or winger either side better on right. He still has a few years left in the tank it was Saints wingerless formation 5.3.2 that forced him out of the team.

To talk about a different striker, I thought not much stuck for Kane at Pittodrie or Dens but on Sunday, his defending from the front had to be admired...

Then I saw the stats in the article Eric Nicolson did about Ali Crawford (which I thought was a bit too effusive) and is he a big part of why we've lacked any real killer threat in the three games?

I would start Vertainen on Saturday. If he doesn't play well then fine, you have two weeks to work with him on the training ground but at least you have a starting point.

Zander should have at least 90% pass rate as he should be passing to his defenders But no he punts the ball up the right wing hoping for Rooney to win a header. That move has been unfruitful and the opposition are well aware of it

Because they get played the same way.

With Craig in there, and Kane + Middleton/MOH, we technically play 5-3-2 as Craig sits central and deep with Wotherspoon to his left and Crawford to his right, making the midfield 3. MOH/Middleton can often play higher than Kane.

But in that set up you usually get the LCM pushing higher than the RCM, with Kane as the central focal point and his strike partner going onto the right wing, Middleton often drops deep when hes up there, which makes your 3-4-2-1 set up.

Effectively its almost 5-3-2 off the ball, 3-4-2-1 on the ball, but of course it depends on the situation etc.

    gobbledygook 2 different formations

Liam Craig ties up with Steven Anderson as our record appearance holder today. Incredible stuff.

Injuries still dictate a lot of our line up tbh.

    Clark

    Rooney - Muller - Ambrose - McCart - Booth

    Crawford - Craig - Wotherspoon

    MOH - Kane

Subs: Parish, Dendoncker, Devine, Gilmour, Middleton, E2, May

Midfield is a worry, but theres nothing else to be done in there. Mullers first game since vanishing from the squad after the Rangers game.

O'Halloran wins the striker roulette this week. Still not convinced he's any use at all apart from games v the OF, as theres simply not the space for him and he can't link play, but you have to trust the managers decisions at this point considering all hes achieved.

He will line up 3 4 2 1  MOH  and Wotherspoon behind Kane

I fear those powers above that control late goals at Easter Road got their wires crossed last weekend with Tanser setting up Shaughnessy for St Mirren. Surely, I mean surely, St Johnstone can't score another late goal in Leith this Sunday?

Will Jack Ross come up with something different or will he hope the superior quality of the Hibernian players finally shines through?

Saints won't vary much from the tried and tested and why should they? Only 2 defeats in 22 away games.

Hard to see Murray Davidson being available if he couldn't even make the bench on Wednesday and James Brown obviously came off in that one as well. Would be interesting to know if Muller was unavailable for that, or the manager just wanted to get Dendoncker involved in the squad. I can't see Rooney starting at centre back, so would expect Muller to come back in if Brown isn't available.

Not sure we have the legs in midfield, without those that are absent, to play the two, so maybe the same shape as the Dundee game, even though the manager's preference might have been the 5-2-3.

Biggest dilemma is up top, where things aren't really clicking, although Kane and Middleton did link up a few more times at Dens than they managed at Pittodrie. Pressure off after the last couple of results, so maybe time to unleash Vertainen?

Hopefully see Jason Kerr in the away end for this, supporting his team.

3 4 2 1   MOH and Wotherspoon behind Kane Played that formation a number of times against the last season

  6. What yesterday showed was that Wotherspoon is not a central midfielder. Why did CD want to play MOH  Middleton Wotherspoon and Kane there is only room for 3 in the formation. Away in Europe a high intensity pressure game worked but we had McCann and Davidson in midfield with a front 3 of MOH Kane and Wotherspoon and in the other game a front 3 of MOH Kane and Middleton Yesterday he decided to replace McCann with Wotherspoon it did not work Crawford coming on in the middle made a big difference.

As for the high intensity game why did it not work again the problem from midfield MOH Kane and Middleton shut down their back 4 but there was no pressure on the midfield players in the centre of the park where they easily picked up the balls coming from the back. Eventually the front 3 got disheartened and stopped the high pressure

With our formation pick any 3 from Wotherspoon MOH Middleton May Kane and Vertainen Now that is a good problem to have
