  1. Cove continue on their mission and well done to all involved.  If the Dons don't get their finger oot they could be in playoffs in few weeks, that would be kinda interesting! If Cove can keep Milne, Fyvie and few others and more importantly add proper quality/experience then they should hopefully be stable in Championship next year although I'd say the difference in quality from L1 to C is more than between any other two adjacent divisions and for that reason I expect Kelty to be in the thick of L1 title/promotion next season.

Thought for some time Milne could play at a higher level.  Hibs game will have convinced a few more.

Looks a no brainer for the Dons.  Full time football would surely improve the kid providing he was getting regular first team games.

    What is his contract situation?

Ex Dons go to Cove, not the other way round, it's because they pay better!

  3. Milne was great at Hibs - Megginson showed that touch of class but alas his legs were gone in 2nd half, how he made it through extra time I'll never know, McAllister dangerous in the right areas but surely this season is his swansong.  Fully confident Cove go up as L1 champions but also certain will be looking for a new forward line to make a challenge/stabilise in championship.  Hope there's still money in the kitty after the (to me) strange Reynolds signing.

  4. Speaking with Hibs fans after the game and reading their comments here, it seems they under-performed (well as much as any team does when their fans high expectations are not met) but that doesn't take anything away from a great Cove performance and certainly (even prior to summer window boosting) one which suggests they won't have too much difficulty in meeting Championship challenge next season assuming of course they put in performances like this and win L1, which I expect.  I thought Stevenson was good for Hibs and Milne/Scully/Megginson/Masson were very good in a team full of good performances. It's clear to see that Megginson could have played at higher level 5-7 years ago but on other hand the loyalty he's shown to Cove has been a great example.  Agree with another comment on thread that extra-time plays into the hands of the higher league teams, going straight to penalties after 90 mins would be an interesting and exciting experience!

  5. going to the game tonight after few beers in Artisan (probably) hoping Cove put in a good performance, I'd have fancied them more if Hibs had played well on Monday night but new management team bound to have them wound up for tonight.  If chances fall to Megginson or McAllister then it could be interesting!!

Today, and last week against Peterhead we couldn't have argued with draws in either but we sneaked wins with key players missing.  Not complaining about 6 points and 2 clean sheets; far from it. We do have fralities due to our squad depth. Common to nearly all teams in this  league.

Prior to the Peterhead game I thought performances had been outstanding at times over a 2 month spell.

Not sure if you were at the match, streamed it or never saw it but we didn't look like a team which is guaranteed to go up.

Last year I thought we pushed Partick valiantly to the end and thought we did enough over the 2 legs to get to the playoff final but it wasn't to be. Would have fancied our chances against Morton but clearly things didn't work out.

    Agree about Mitch.

Credit to Vigurs today getting the winner and his performances have noticeable been better since the season started. For me though, Fyvie and Yule are our best CM partnership. Vigurs is prone to giving the ball away cheaply, slowing the game down too much and at times not tracking back. Agree he's an asset to have in our quest to get out of L1.

I still think we need 2 successful January signings to bolster our chances of securing top spot and automatic promotion.

I watched the stream, fairly standard L1 fare, and yes could have drawn or even lost on a different day however maybe I'm just more optimistic than yourself but every confidence Cove go up as Champions this time round, with or without January additions.  In fact history shows that January additions are rarely successful/impactful so prefer if the scouting team are thinking further ahead to the summer window and identifying 4-6 players for a Championship campaign - bound to be a few let go from Pittodrie and could do worse than look at half the Banks O'Dee or Fraserburgh teams

  7. I'm always amused by Cove1922 playing down their chances and praising the opposition!! truth is Cove probably should have gone up last year, and they'll make no mistake this time.  The chances of Megginson going anywhere are zero!! Hoping crowds confirmed for the cup tie at Hibs, I know it's on telly but nothing like going away to one of the 'big boys'.  Vigurs has been a class act throughout his career, a bit Jim Bett like although not as good but with a longer career - exactly the sort of player (a la DGW) that the lower league teams need to up their game.

I don't think people saying it'll be a draw or a narrow home win is highly optimistic? We will start the game as favourites and if we play well we should win the game, unsure on where the disrespect of Cove is.

theres a 5-0, 3-0. 3-1 and couple of 2-0 on this page alone...lets see but cove will be happy if falkirk take them lightly, history means nothing at 3pm

Yeah we definitely need a glass kind of player, actually glad he wasn’t playing today.
Yet to make up my mind about our midfield yet but I’d definitely have Yule there and not right back. Should hopefully see more of the other players as the season goes on, we keep signing so many players it’s hard to keep track.
I did think the loan signing of Ritchie was an odd one, 2 leagues below and really young? He must be shit hot but someone I know who has seen him play didn’t give that impression.

Masson I would probably have as a regular midfielder, trouble with him though is he’s either brilliant or a ghost 🤣

saw ross logan of clach vs locos last november (oh those happy pre covid days!) and he looked the sort of player who would be even better when playing with a good team, with no HL in prospect any time soon, maybe a look North for some additional squad players, even on a loan basis till HL does kick off - but he certainly looked a player to me

  10. real shame he didn't have the time to enjoy his money...reported £2.5m (which I assume was to purchase the shares intended for transfer to the fans), reported £6m on youth academy (pitches, facilities etc although £6m would get you all of that plus a lot more) and who knows maybe he left a bit more in his will/estate...read somewhere he also had a box at barcelona, so messi one weekend and the jags the next, living the dream!! being debt free should allow you to invest more in players if so desired, certainly easier than for teams deep in debt already, although cove were in pretty healthy state pre-oil crash and probably still are (again in comparison to others in L1)
