  1. anyone remember the name of the thread where we put the pre-season table forecasts?
  2. Cove continue on their mission and well done to all involved. If the Dons don't get their finger oot they could be in playoffs in few weeks, that would be kinda interesting! If Cove can keep Milne, Fyvie and few others and more importantly add proper quality/experience then they should hopefully be stable in Championship next year although I'd say the difference in quality from L1 to C is more than between any other two adjacent divisions and for that reason I expect Kelty to be in the thick of L1 title/promotion next season.
  3. Ex Dons go to Cove, not the other way round, it's because they pay better!
  4. Milne was great at Hibs - Megginson showed that touch of class but alas his legs were gone in 2nd half, how he made it through extra time I'll never know, McAllister dangerous in the right areas but surely this season is his swansong. Fully confident Cove go up as L1 champions but also certain will be looking for a new forward line to make a challenge/stabilise in championship. Hope there's still money in the kitty after the (to me) strange Reynolds signing.
  5. Speaking with Hibs fans after the game and reading their comments here, it seems they under-performed (well as much as any team does when their fans high expectations are not met) but that doesn't take anything away from a great Cove performance and certainly (even prior to summer window boosting) one which suggests they won't have too much difficulty in meeting Championship challenge next season assuming of course they put in performances like this and win L1, which I expect. I thought Stevenson was good for Hibs and Milne/Scully/Megginson/Masson were very good in a team full of good performances. It's clear to see that Megginson could have played at higher level 5-7 years ago but on other hand the loyalty he's shown to Cove has been a great example. Agree with another comment on thread that extra-time plays into the hands of the higher league teams, going straight to penalties after 90 mins would be an interesting and exciting experience!
  6. going to the game tonight after few beers in Artisan (probably) hoping Cove put in a good performance, I'd have fancied them more if Hibs had played well on Monday night but new management team bound to have them wound up for tonight. If chances fall to Megginson or McAllister then it could be interesting!!
  7. Got my ticket for Hibs - roll on next Thursday. What's estimate of away fans - 500ish? Shame it's a Thursday and TV otherwise would have hoped for 800-1000
  8. I watched the stream, fairly standard L1 fare, and yes could have drawn or even lost on a different day however maybe I'm just more optimistic than yourself but every confidence Cove go up as Champions this time round, with or without January additions. In fact history shows that January additions are rarely successful/impactful so prefer if the scouting team are thinking further ahead to the summer window and identifying 4-6 players for a Championship campaign - bound to be a few let go from Pittodrie and could do worse than look at half the Banks O'Dee or Fraserburgh teams
  9. I'm always amused by Cove1922 playing down their chances and praising the opposition!! truth is Cove probably should have gone up last year, and they'll make no mistake this time. The chances of Megginson going anywhere are zero!! Hoping crowds confirmed for the cup tie at Hibs, I know it's on telly but nothing like going away to one of the 'big boys'. Vigurs has been a class act throughout his career, a bit Jim Bett like although not as good but with a longer career - exactly the sort of player (a la DGW) that the lower league teams need to up their game.
  10. so is it confirmed Brechin to HL and if yes, do HL 'promote' or 'relegate' another team to even up the numbers? so many questions!!
  11. It's the inaction (sic) of someone who doesn't care...not tracking your man in your own penalty box definitely warrants a seat on the subs bench but of course they're still picking up their wages on their backsides!
  12. Alston was gash at Accies - down a couple of divisions was never going to make that much of a difference, there are strikers in Highland League (and probably Lowland although I'm not as familiar) who would put in far more of an effort
  13. nae got a stream - cove playing better than the home game or falkirk playing worse?
  14. nope but a bit o confidence going post split that cove can finish on top of the 2 monsters
  15. aye bit like the thought on finishing on top before the split - as the Americans call it, the regular season champions!
  16. nae cove fans on here is abdy jist soaking in the thought of winning the league at Montrose on Tuesday?
  17. backed cove at 3.3 on betfair - in league 2 albion rovers at 4.2 to beat cowdenbeath, big price considering they're both as bad as each other although our fife friends always have that bit of delusion about themselves
  18. theres a 5-0, 3-0. 3-1 and couple of 2-0 on this page alone...lets see but cove will be happy if falkirk take them lightly, history means nothing at 3pm
  19. glad to see someone respecting Cove!! or else most on here are highly optimistic bairns
  20. saw ross logan of clach vs locos last november (oh those happy pre covid days!) and he looked the sort of player who would be even better when playing with a good team, with no HL in prospect any time soon, maybe a look North for some additional squad players, even on a loan basis till HL does kick off - but he certainly looked a player to me
  21. Mr 1922 is eternally down playing Cove but whether they played well or not they have the wonderful habit of winning - and big Rory scoring the winner justifies his money for this week. Falkirk the dangers but no surprise if (covid permitting!) Cove go up this year
  22. real shame he didn't have the time to enjoy his money...reported £2.5m (which I assume was to purchase the shares intended for transfer to the fans), reported £6m on youth academy (pitches, facilities etc although £6m would get you all of that plus a lot more) and who knows maybe he left a bit more in his will/estate...read somewhere he also had a box at barcelona, so messi one weekend and the jags the next, living the dream!! being debt free should allow you to invest more in players if so desired, certainly easier than for teams deep in debt already, although cove were in pretty healthy state pre-oil crash and probably still are (again in comparison to others in L1)
