  1. only what's in the public domain re your benefactor's extravagance before his sad passing
  2. best price cove 19/20 with hills, no matter how bad the thistle fans think their team is, this price is too short for a promoted team vs a relegated team (unless of course as said earlier, thistle are doing a brechin but surely no wi a colin's money tae spend?)...on an unrelated matter, Hibs 8/5 wi 365 tae beat (albeit a right up for it) hearts seems too big and i'l be haeing a sma lump on
  3. aye fair point but unless you're trying to out-brechin brechin coming fae premier league THREE seasons ago to forecasting 3-0 defeats is certainly lowered expectations
  4. nithing like some self deprecation to lower the expectations!! ony thistle fan really expecting a 3-0 loss is in sair need o a pint!! or similar....
  5. was surprised that bookies had cove so short for their first away fixture in L1 but result shows they know their onions!! would have been really decent crowd, such a shame, guessing maybe 1500-2000? let's hope this lockdown nonsense behind us before the return fixture, anywyes the win at balmoor wid blaw ony covid miles inland!!
  6. cove will have this game circled in their calendar since fixtures released, can't see them losing, draw at worst. consistently under rated but this team and back room infrastructure are headed to championship in next 3 years, maybe even this year if falkirk and thistle under perform
  7. interesting summer ahead, will be some decent teams in L1 - assuming falkirk and raith go up as champions and play off winners (would fancy them against thistle or QOS), expect more from clyde but cove will be aiming for promotion play offs
  8. bet365 paid out on cove...happy days..now waiting on falkirk for the double, last game of season could be decider hame tae raith
  9. not this years brora - all the HL buzz indicates they're going for it
  10. HL maybe not as good as some would have you believe, but Brora are...
  11. you must live in one of the rio favelas if that's your pub league standard
  12. With the pretty amazing form of Kelty/Bonnyrigg and Brora (who rumour has it are pretty serious about going for it this year i.e. best players won't be away on stag parties!) it's very clear that whoever comes 10th this year will be in real danger of relegation and although Brechin are in a desperate position, their point yesterday may be a sign of things to come (and I find it hard to believe any team could be relegated three successive seasons - surely that would be some kind of record?) so will be interesting if they can apply pressure to Albion and/or Stenhousemuir, I think everyone else is safe... any of the three aforementioned will be tough nut in L2 next year so whoever gets a promotion play-off this season will be desperate to wave L2 goodbye!! in closing Cove home form 13 wins from 13 games, 34 goals vs 5 conceded is top notch and it's not cause they are more used to the wind and cold than the opponents!!
  13. cove PR department hit the self destruct button - why wouldn't they just let the guy leave in few days (hours) time when his deal runs out, now they have what I can only imagine will be a shower of unwanted attention and the resurfacing article with Hartley will take a lot of explaining away - probably along the lines of oh well he said those things before he was a Cove employee, but people in lots of positions are being binned for things they said eons ago...
  14. it could happen 2020-2021 if brora really want it - if they don't then hopefully they'll pass on the league title and let Locos have a go, although they saved their worst display of the year for arguably the biggest game, broxburn at hame
  15. one third of the season gone and comfortably 5 points ahead in what is a 2 team race - what are the chances now?
  16. League 2 - likely largest budget highlighted 2013–14 Peterhead Annan Athletic Rory McAllister (Peterhead) 32 2014–15 Albion Rovers Queen's Park Peter Weatherson (Annan Athletic) 22 2015–16 East Fife (possibly Arbroath who finished 9th!) Elgin City Nathan Austin (East Fife) 22 2016–17 Arbroath Forfar Athletic Shane Sutherland (Elgin City) 18 2017–18 Montrose Peterhead David Goodwillie (Clyde) 25 2018–19 Peterhead Clyde League 1 Season Winner Runner-up Top scorer Player Goals 2013–14 Rangers Dunfermline Athletic Michael Moffat (Ayr United) 26 2014–15 Greenock Morton (possibly Dunfermline?) Stranraer Declan McManus (Greenock Morton) 20 2015–16 Dunfermline Athletic Ayr United Faissal El Bakhtaoui (Dunfermline Athletic) Rory McAllister (Peterhead) 22 2016–17 Livingston Alloa Athletic Andy Ryan (Airdrieonians) 23 2017–18 Ayr United Raith Rovers Lawrence Shankland (Ayr United) 26 2018–19 Arbroath (possibly Raith?) Forfar Athletic Kevin Nisbet (Raith Rovers) 30 Championship 2013–14 Dundee Hamilton Academical Rory Loy (Falkirk) 20 2014–15 Heart of Midlothian Hibernian Jason Cummings (Hibernian) 18 2015–16 Rangers Falkirk Martyn Waghorn (Rangers) 20 2016–17 Hibernian Falkirk Jason Cummings (Hibernian) Stephen Dobbie (Queen of the South) 19 2017–18 St Mirren Livingston Stephen Dobbie (Queen of the South) 18 2018–19 Ross County Dundee United Lawrence Shankland (Ayr United) 24 so probably 10 out of 18 give or take but I think that's skewed by Rangers/Hibs/Hearts and I would guess going back further the strike rate is lower
  17. your arguement is based on a snapshot - anyone who thinks that celtic, united and falkirk (who went top only this past saturday) are home and hosed should have a wander doon their local bookies..with exception of celtic who have had no credible competition for years, how many times in past 5 seasons have the club with biggest budget won their league (and restricting arguement to Scotland which I didn't) - ross county last year, certainly not, montrose certainly not, arbroath certainly not etc etc
  18. why the hoo fn ha aboot a fans match report - majority on here are likely capable of the same sort of biased nonsense...yes of course funding is a factor but there are multiple examples e.g. two teams in Dundee, Falkirk and many more down south where money doesn't translate to automatic success. cove have more than one backer - not exactly a 'community club' but several guys behind the scenes with the ability to pay wages for a few decent players. nae sure if the 'rivalry' thing is mair for the cowden or cove fans benefits - storm in a tea urn i think
  19. cove have walloped the away opposition in L2 this year apart from the freak coatbridge score so anything less than an away win will be a major surprise OR another sign that the likes of talbot and banks o dee need to get a grip and go for the pyramid
  20. bound to hit a rough patch, all teams do at least once per season, but Cove will win L2 by at least 8 points
  21. can't see any reason for the 'confidence' in Elgin, bookies have Cove at 8/11 and whilst that's too short, can't see anything other than an away win and BTTS as Cove continue their progress to L1 in 2020-2021
  22. Elgin, at one time the HL powerhouse have been disappointing but County (especially) and Peterhead have done themselves proud and certainly better than a Bonnyrigg/Linlithgow/Auchinleck/Kelty etc etc would although these and many more will surely appear in L2 in next 20 years, at whose expense is the bigger question
  23. shock/horror - drinks mair expensive in Aberdeen than in Fife
