With Reilly leaving because he wants to go part-time, does this suggest that the club will be remaining full time next season then?

I heard he was leaving Queen's and had a job outside football lined up so if he lives outside D&G as is being suggested then it's no indication on what we're doing unfortunately.

Until we get a new board I doubt anyone will know yet Inc any managerial appointment, players signing etc.

None of which challenges the point about the relationship between squad size and the wages that can be offered to individuals.

I'm not clear on what you're saying here.  If it's simply that we pay low wages then fair enough.  That certainly wouldn't come as a shock.  Carrying a big squad would exacerbate that problem though, which is all that's being said.

My point is folk see we have a big squad and assume that this means he's had a decent budget.

Yeah but surely the point is that the budget gets spread more thinly if the squad is big.

If there were fewer players, we could presumably pay each more, thus attracting better ones.

    Am I missing something?

In theory yes but in reality I wouldn't be surprised if two average Queens player wages wouldn't even make up one half decent one. I certainly remember reading mutterings about one local players wages being particularly bad and I know for a fact Johnson was shocked how low they were in his second stint here.

Got to remember as well it's hard to attract quality at this level unless there's a decent incentive, facilities or/and prospects.

  4. I don't buy into this way of thinking that because he had 30 players the budget was decent.

He made a good point that a part time player could get the same wages we have but also have the second income of a job outside football so why would they come here? And you're not going to attract decent full time if the wages are dire.

Shit wages lower standard of employee.

  5. I'd be okay to see him stay with a experienced assistant coming in and Murray jogging off into the distance but unfortunately he's completely lost the fans and his position is intangible if we want any kind of support next season.

The outgoing boards parting gift should be to sack him so to give the new board a clean start.

So you really believe that Bartley accepted the job knowing he was restricted in the age of players he was allowed to sign. If that were the case why have a few been sent out on loan/released.

Well he certainly wasn't told to sign a promotion fighting team or else he wouldn't have signed at least 50% of this gang.

He was giving a decent full time budget okay not on the level of Falkirk /Hamilton but more than enough to get us into the playoffs looks like he will do that !

He decided to go with a young squad of  29 odd  players rather than get some experience and quality into it.

Don't think Bartley has a clue what a decent player is look at Mumbongo no wonder Hamilton  don't want him.

He should have been sacked months ago take the financial hit  but all the board are leaving so they don't care let the new board  sort out the mess we are in .

It was the club's choice to go down the young route and bring in Bartley to develop them.

No football manager would pick a team of primarily youngsters in the hope of pushing for promotion.

Was always a development program not a promotion push.

I'm not arguing that point. The point is he had a budget to bring in 29 players and should have used it better. 9 players less could have meant a better quality 20.

I'm not defending the BoD by any means but Bartley can't wash his hands of this season's shitshow either.

I totally agree it would have been better having quality over quantity but I don't believe for one second that Bartley thought bringing in lots of young players was the way to get out of this division.

Good job he's been shrewd with his budget then and not blown it on a 29 player squad...

29 players on peanuts.  The board wanted a development squad and they signed the players off.

It was never a promotion team.  No one could honesty look at this squad prior to the first league game and say, we were in with a good chance or, good quality squad.

Absolutely nobody is behind Bartley. He’s an absolute diddy who talks a good game but as you know he’s media trained. Clearly talked himself into a job…

It's been on repeat for most of the season on every internet page going the line "talked himself into a job" and quite frankly it's a load of nonsense.

He's a rookie manager assistanted by a complete no hope given a budget of £2.99 working with a school camp.

It was always going to be a gamble from the start.

Where the major problem has been is this comple basket case of a board made a major f*** up by giving him a 2 year deal so when it inevitably did turn sour we were financially stuck with him.

  11. Someone said there is two sides to every story but we know the court case was the reason he was sacked, pretty obvious, the being told not to play and only manage, that's hard to be a misunderstanding and the medical bills thing , iirc hasn't we had previous for this with other player(s)?

Id sooner trust Wullie over Hewitson any day if the week.  If you know you know....

The last few months  have has been woeful watching queens . I have supported queens for over 40 years and have seen high and lows if you had told me I would see them in a Scottish cup with 17500 fans there ( where have they gone ). Been one of the 900 in Copenhagen when I was 12 I would never believed you .
I know a lot of fans not happy with board and manager ( not a fan ) but we need to get to end of season and then refocus on the future .

The sad thing for me is I can’t see a knight in shining armour going to plough millions into club would love to know if there was . I think we have been blessed with fortune since the Harkness era  with local people putting good money into club ( Blount , Bradford, Rae , hewitson  plus others )

maybe someone out there is ready to do the same thou not sure where they are .But maybe we as fans can help by supporting the team and helping stay in division. Already got ticket for Annan massive game .
Finally a message to the manager please please go back to play a style the fans enjoy not the negativity we have been watching  and I am sorry but this is not players, refs, linesmen, colour of strips we play in or any other excuse I have heard from you this season this is down to you . So change and listen to the fans and let the players play with Passion

The club has been slowly dragged down the last 6 years through lack of investment. We had the best part of a million quid in the bank and didn't do anything with it.

A change of board will freshen things up no end. People who want to be there to take the club forwards. Last thing we need is millions getting pumped in. Just some half decent quality will do.

  13. I wasn't at the game today so just a general observation;

The problem Bartley has imo  is he doesn't have any natural defensive midfielders so if he tries and sets up too attacking then it's a guarantee we'll just leak goals for fun.

He also badly lacks height so long balls are usually pointless, not that I'm advocating that kind of football but it does have it's place.

I do think he should start the new striker though as he's looked useful but that would mean dropping either Reilly or Connolly and 3 up front would just be suicidal as per the first paragraph.

Before any new board we must stay in League 1.

Bartley saying we have had the worse injury list in the League hence our low position The news of the board  leaving did not leave much time for Bartley but as I thought he spoke very well you almost thought he was a good manager .

What worrys me is we definitely have Bartley till the end of the season it is as if he does not realise how serious our situation is .We are somehow going to stay  full time next season but with huge  cuts.

This shows what a arse Bartley has made of this he has been  working with a Championship budget yet somehow has signed a very poor squad that will struggle to keep us on League 1

The squad was never built on a championship budget, that's why we signed 90% youth because they come cheap and if they come good you can sell them on.

It's clear the idea was throw one experienced player in every position and surround them with young hopefuls to learn and hopefully develop.

I don't believe anyone thought for one second this was a seriously good team well capable of a challenge.  Maybe a hope of a top 4 but it was always a work in progress from the start.

A team full of young players just doesn't work.  Look at Chelsea.  They're fans are fed up with the inconsistenty and calling for the managers head. It's just a recipe for disaster in terms of the quest for instant success.

  15. Someone said on social media they reported at the AGM there had been interested parties local and down south.  When this was no idea but Hewitson always said he would stand down if anyone wanted to take over.  Would have thought he would have mentioned if they were in talks just  for reassurance if anything.

If no one was lined up and they did just walk then wonder if Davie Rae would take temporary charge being a majority shareholder?

What are the crowd like at the AGM generally? Are difficult questions normally asked or is the crowd full off happy clapper types?* I think serious questions need to be asked and answered tonight so hopefully it's the case rather than the BoD and manager (if he attends) getting an easy time of it. I'm guessing the most pressing questions will be worked around/not answered though. Q1 surely being - "How's he still here?"

*I've never been, haven't heard how these things normally go at QoS so it's a genuine question and not a passive aggressive pop at anyone.

The times iv been it's been pretty tame.

Start off with how difficult trading has been and need to cut back financially or we'll go under kinda thing, this usually keeps any difficult questions towards the board at bay then move on to questions and answers towards the manger which are usually watered down by compared to internet ramblings.

They'll be no flying chairs or finger pointing.

  17. I hope at the AGM that the pressure on Bartley isn't taking away the focus on what a absolute shit show Hewitson and co have made of our club.

Get this board out!! A change of manger is merely a sticking plaster. A Queen's managerial job is a job set up for failure. Evidence: 4 managers in, continued decline.

At what point does the pattern of continuous individual errors costing us games brings the blame to the manager though? Absolutely in isolation you can blame the players but Bartley needs to own the trend.

Even if it's just for recruiting players who aren't good enough for this level (and hence make lots of errors)

There's a difference between say a player not covering properly, back to goal deflections etc etc criticism then fair enough but a complete miscommunication and a player sticking a leg out in the box, that is just obvious individual errors and Bartley can't be held accountable for this.
