That’s different to what you’re saying. They were there before with the 20s before going to gala. If they go and the ‘momentum’ stops then will it be their fault?

No idea what role if any the club have lined up for them and at what level. Was merely pointing out the fact that the coaching staff at gala last year were made up of the ECFC chairman’s son and a few of his mates.

Havinng  spoke to a few people I think his son and a few of his mates is pretty big exaggeration, Robbie I think the chairman’s son name is, don’t quote me on that, was at the 20’s then the others were brought in at a later date, not sure they even knew of one another’s existence before that point

Tbf, the ‘coaching staff’ you refer to consists of the Edinburgh City chairman’s son and a couple of his mates 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Glad somebody said it

Away you go, like anything, you think Edinburgh city as a club would let people come in who’d alter the momentum? Have a word

Like many many many many football clubs they relieves the Manager of his duties my comment is about the loyalty of the players towards the club and the backward step the majority, not all, have made.

Love your hatred towards the club though Archie.

What defines a better team??is it based on last years squad or next years?? on last years squad outwith spartans yes lesser clubs but next years all but 1 team from the list will be stronger than Gala!
At this level players sign for people not clubs and the coaching staff had that network. only shameful part of all of this is Gala's shocking decision! Unfortunately some people won't appreciate what they had intill the end of the season.
Manager goes to East Kilbride and looking like coaching staff could be ok their way to Edinburgh city ...
Not bad moves for the guys

Not a peep from the club and another good player away. Letting other clubs announce they have signed your players and not thanking them for their services on a successful season is poor. Other clubs are spot on with announcing who has arrived and left their squads. Gala sound like a complete shambles from what it sounds like.

If it helps the folk on here the club have signed

Bonnar, McBride, Berry from the Vale and Herdman who was on loan at Coldstream has returned.

Also two young lads from Kelty 20's have signed who were previously at Tynecastle.

    Out so far

    Baxter - Spartans

Cunningham - Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale

Smith - Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale

    Paterson - Vale of Leithen

    Stevebson - Tynecastle

    Donaldson - Sunday Football

Not confirmed but from what's been doing the rounds is

    Watson - Spartans/Penicuik

    Miller - Berwick/BSC

    Main - CSS

    Scullion - ?

Plus the 2 from hibs, and the other keeper ... 13 players from a squad is inconceivable from 4 weeks ago, you’d have been looking at keeping the majority and adding a couple.

Agreed, had a feeling he’d had stayed. Sad to see him move on. No word on Phil addison yet, if he’s away it’s a whole new squad coming in I think.

that would be a disaster, arguably they already had the best local talent at the club and if they all go the ethos is already out the window

  6. for an opinions page it seems frowned upon to have one that isn't positive, pretty sure the management team will have moved on from it now so don't think the people who continue to post want to see anything other than the best for the club. Confident that if we were singing the praises there wouldn't be anyone picking up on it

Its one thing to discuss the rights and wrongs of a managerial sacking at a club, style of play, number of locals etc,  but when serious accusations of financial impropriety start to be made then its facts and not opinions that are important.

The reason that the POTY awards were held in the clubrooms had absolutely nothing to do with spending of any budget first team or otherwise.

The Fonz is correct when he says it was simply a consequence of one booking, (at Gala Academy) falling through for reasons outwith the club's control and then not being able to book another suitable venue (The Volunteer Hall) as a replacement before the Autumn.

Rather than not have any event it was agreed to go ahead with the awards ceremony in the clubrooms and hold the bigger Hall of Fame style event later in the year.

That's the only reason. Simple. To suggest otherwise or that it is related to budget overspending is a disgraceful slander based on ugly rumours.

In terms of a budget for season 2019/20 then it was/will be the largest in the club's short history because of the success in reaching R3 of the Scottish Cup, money brought in from transfer and loan deals along with the continued revenue streams from sponsorship, bar income, lottery sales etc

My understanding is that increased budget was agreed through the democratic structures of GFR.

I also understand that there will be no significant reduction in the money being made available to the new manager. So the budget for next season remains the biggest in the club's history mainly thanks to the increased monies brought in by the football department last season.

Whilst I cannot speak for the former manager or his staff then I do not believe he was ever formally challenged over any alleged overspends or financial mismanagement?

I do not know of any formal meetings the club held to discuss such a serious accusation?

Surely you would think if such serious allegations were to be levelled then there would be some kind of due process and the club's formal internal structures and elected officials would have been involved in discussing them?

If there were no formal process then I would suggest that anything subsequently raised regarding budgets deserves to be treated with the contempt it deserves and the manager and his backroom staff who never took a penny from the club deserve to move on with their reputations intact and with the best wishes of all those at Netherdale.

correct, like anything surely there would have been ongoing discussions, it's not like a professional club where extra funds can be made available, clubs at this level surely have strict budgets and the ability to go over them significantly would be virtually impossible, and as i am guessing the manager would have to have it approved from the board then if this was the case they would be more to blame than the manager
