Buchs or Thomson is already a decent debate for who leads the line. Assuming Goody does keep with that 4-2-3-1. No doubt he’ll be mixing and matching in friendlies & cup to get a better gauge.
As it stands, both coming off fairly uninspiring spells after banging them in a few years back - hopefully rekindle that this season. However, both better options than what we had last year as our out and out striker so more than happy.I forgot about Buchs when putting that team down! Even better!

I think we are in a good position as it stands, if we had a game today and could field the below side, I would have zero issues with it!
Parry
Robertson Taggart Graham Dick
Flanny Hetherington
Cawley Trouten Stirling
Thomson
Christ if we started the first league game with that team i would be happy!

Robert Thomson and Andy Stirling have signed, delighted with both, Stirling in particular!

Another attacking player expected to sign this week, my guess is Robert Thomson, but we will wait and see.

Experienced player, knows the club, i cant see any negatives in this at all. Doesnt mean he is going to be the first name on the teamsheet weekly, but a great player to have in the squad.

To be honest I am keen for it to be announced so we can quickly move on, its nearly June and we need to get into the market for players asap. I am sure that is already happening, but the sooner the managerial situation is sorted, the better.

Was that the game big Geoff scored 4? I was hopeful after preseason, not going to lie. But didn't take long to realise we had changed from a possession to a hoofball team with a bunch of jobbers on their way down through the leagues.
Wonder what'll happen when this squad gets overhauled. Barring Stevie and Taggs we're an old team.
I was too, but then had a reality check when I realised Eddie Fearns had scored and been MOM in like 3 of the pre-season games, so the levels we were playing against were maybe not great!
Always hard at this level to successfully transition a new squad, you need to get lucky, or like we did bring in a manager (Hartley) with good contacts and barring that season we have seen nothing but relative success since.

"Should we succeed in these signings, I believe we will have a very entertaining and capable squad of footballers to allow Alloa to compete very well in the 2nd tier in Scottish football. I believe we could surprise a number of people with our performances and results in the season ahead."
I wonder who we missed out on because that team never surprised anyone.
The player I hated the most from that time was Connor McManus. Don't think I've seen a lazier player on the park than him. Every week I'd see him lazily jog around never breaking a sweat. At that time I was fit and quick and honestly questioned why I wasn't a Celtic youth player.
It just all went so wrong it was crazy, we were destroying teams in pre-season as well, did we not hammer Cove 7-0?
Big Jack came in though, so that was a positive.

Just seen pic of Danny Lennon on social media, brought back the painful memories of that season, i thought I had blanked it out of my memory. Remember it, it was utterly horrific, Geoff Mitchell, Mikk Reintam, Caitlin Paun, Kyle McAusland...jesus christ that was horrific.

Am sure thats one that will be in the frame Darren Young at EF hasn't done enough for me in his time there . Dougie Imrie . Darren odea . or could you intise Derek Adams back up the road .
Darren O'Dea has signed for East Kilbride and total tit into the bargain! Dougie Imrie....not sure, seems like a wee ned, but might make a good manager. Neil McCann....?

Who would you guys likely be looking at as a replacement for Goodwin, if he does indeed leave for Dens? Likely to go for another recently retired player?
We will go for a young and hungry manager no doubt, Andy Graham anyone.......

Not so much throwing money at it but having lost Baird, Easton and Reilly in one weekend we clearly had wages freed up and a need for some quality creative player (s) take it he’s a decent player?
Kirky is a fantastic player, for me better in a 3 playing behind the striker, or as a 2nd striker. Can score all types of goals and on his day will take some stopping in league one.

any truth to Jim G taking over from Steve Clark at Killy
I thought about that yesterday, not sure Killie will go down that route though to be fair, but we couldn't argue if he made that move.

As for Sparky, he somewhat split opinion with us, I was never a big fan particularly in our second half of the season but he's played at a good level before so there's definitely a player there. For whatever reason he went from a left back to a central midfielder with us, so no idea where he'll end up playing at you.
Docherty was always a far better central midfielder than left back when he was with us, I believe it was the same when he was at Alloa.
I would agree, always felt he got caught out quite a bit at left back, but a really good player both on the pitch and great for the dressing room.
