Shame Lee Bullen isn't here to share it with us. He'd have loved it.
It turns out that Lee Bullen had it in him to put a winning team on the park and instill an overwhelming feeling of optimism off it.
All he needed to do was leave.

Cup result
Curmudgeon beats Albinorov
Close game again. It was only once my queen got close enough to chase the king that the game really turned in my favour.
Division A
Stewartmathers runs out of time against Curmudgeon.
Although, I had a decent lead in material at the time so it probably would have been a win if it had played out.

Post Office just before Christmas and I was doing a couple of things and asked for 1st class stamps,
Cashier - Books of 4 or 8 are available
Me - Book of 8 (and I put a tenner on the counter at that point)
She hands me a book of 8 and I stand there, she looks at me at which point I realise a book of stamps is a tenner as they £1.25 each.
Emailing cards next year
You got let off lightly as Horizon would've accounted for it as a £50 sale.

Curmudgeon beats the_kid by resignation.
From a decent position I thought I had blown it due to not taking an advanced pawn when I had the chance. I then had my work cut out to eventually take it about 15 moves later. Then a knight fork on king and rook finally settled matters, but it was a bit of an escape for me.

This will prove interesting. Invite sent to @Caro-Kann
A cynical person might imply that this is a cunning ploy to eliminate one of the stronger players.
Not me though, as I firmly believe it's all above board.

Dearyme beats Curmudgeon by resignation.
Or more accurately he inserted my head in a vice and slowly tightened until I couldn't take any more.
Remember to castle early, folks.

Hopkin's role is purely advisory, he's not getting (or even interested in) the job.
It could work out for you if that's his role. As long as you take his advice and do the complete opposite.

I think you've missed Bold's joke, think compass points
I've been truly whooshed there.

What's the point?
If we tried to rationalise everything we do in life we probably wouldn't do very much. Why would someone climb Mount Everest or run marathons?
My first dead pool entry was in 2021 with a conventional team, but it turned out to have a fairly mediocre result which made me realise that I'm unlikely to ever win. As an alternative I set myself a challenge of putting together oddly linked teams instead just for the hell of it.
It also means I have to dig out some slightly more obscure picks which gives me a better chance of solo shots just in the off chance that the team unexpectedly does well.

@Curmudgeon's squad is a thing of beauty.
Thanks F_P.
After submitting ridiculous teams in the previous two years I couldn't help myself this year as well, although I've gone in a new direction, so to speak.
It takes quite a lot of effort compiling a team that has virtually no chance of winning, but for anyone who's interested here's my squad.
Clint Eastwood
Timothy West
Oliver North
Neville Southall
Peter Easterby
Simon Weston
David Easter
Rose West
Sheena Easton
Tim Westwood
Dendy Easton
Daniella Westbrook
Kanye West
John Eastman
Billy West
With a lucky escape for Gareth Southgate, who just missed the cut.

I can send you the video of me body-popping if you're getting grief about your street-cred.
That'll shut them up.
Speaking of Ayr...
I'm truly touched, but I only had eyes for another bird this year.

Head along to the shop for the Roy Syla stocking filler.
Actually thinking about it, the Logan Chalmers Ayr Llamas might be a legitimate marketing opportunity.

I was thinking I could go to this game or I could get booted in the balls by a police horse for the same effect.
McGinty will be hoofing balls all afternoon as well.

Curmudgeon beats beef2711 by resignation.
A couple of uncharacteristic mistakes from Beef brought this to an early conclusion.

Curmudgeon and Invergowrie draw by agreement.
A couple of times I thought I was going a pawn up, but each time Invergowrie pulled the pawn back.
Good, competitive game. Well played.

As usual a closely fought game between us in which I just managed to gain an edge in the middle game.

Curmudgeon beats AH13STU by resignation
Two minor errors settled this one. First was for a pawn, the second was a skewer that impaled a knight.
