  1. This ^^ In this day and age, it really shouldn't matter on the field who the captain is. Those who are vocal will rally or bollock people as necessary, regardless of an armband. the club captain is now more of a PR thing for clubs. We have some leaders on the pitch (Liam and Muzz) and it was good to see Duffy taking on some of that by getting on at people. Clearly he is now settling down and finding his voice. I think that Tommy should take the armband off of Kerr, at least on the pitch, and let him get back to just concentrating on his game. this would take some of the pressure off him that is clearly affecting him this season. Any of the more senior figures in the team can take it whilst on the pitch, but that shouldnt stop players like Duffy using their voices when required. However, it was important for the team to get the win on Saturday, and hopefully this restores a bit of belief in the players and they kick on from here. Hearts are not a team to be feared for this weekends game, and the players have to believe that they can get a result. It would be interesting to see a May-Hendry partnership upfront to see if it brings a bit more of a balance to the team and give both strikers a partner to play off.
  2. For Friday night comedy, BT Sport are showing a cracking comedy. Dundee trying to defend Away to put a bet on United winning 7-2 !!
  3. Breaking news on BBC Scotland !!!!!................... killie have signed someone
  4. Foster announced on Twitter as signing for Ross County ! Didnt waste any time
  5. I can understand where Radford is coming from. This has been such a long, drawn out saga, played out over the past few weeks, that much of the initial excitement and enthusiasm has gone from this. May was supposed to make his debut against Brechin on 24th July, and we had been speculating for weeks before that, that he was signing, then he wasn't, then it was back on again, then it wasn't, then we tried and failed for a loan and now, it looks as though it is back on again !! The cynical side of me says that this has dragged on so that (a) May can collect another full months wage from Aberdeen before securing his release and (b) so that Steve Brown looks good before tonights Q&A. This should NOT cover the fact that this summers business has been an absolute shambles. The striker position was one that was identified long before the end of last season as needing to be addressed, and we should have had this sorted long before now, one way or another. Brown should not get off lightly at tonights meeting if this signing goes through, as he has made a pigs ear of this saga. In saying all of that, I am still looking forward to seeing Stevie May back in a Saints shirt !!
  6. I thought that Bulletproof was only at McDiarmid on a Tuesday and a Friday. Why are people expecting signings out with these days ? No rumours of potential signings at McDiarmid yesterday, so I am not expecting any further news until Friday.
  7. We still need cover at both right and left back. I suspect that Tommy was happy to have Foster cover left back, as he has covered there before, but if Foster goes, we only have one recognised full back at each side. Hopefully, the issue will be sorted out quickly as this will free up wages for Tommy to do something. I would imagine that Foster would be on a decent wage, so should free up a good chunk of budget to get in cover, as well as the midfielder and striker that we are STILL waiting for
  8. Really disappointed that in the 2 weeks since our last game, we have not signed the striker we so desperately need. This has been a position that was identified as being a must before the end of last season, yet we are into the third league game of the season without this position filled with any decent quality. This summer has been the most underwhelming transfer window for a long time but I don’t understand why we are having to wait till the last hours of the window to make a signing that every man and they’re dog could see that we were crying out for. Even pre-season should have made the alarm bells ring. We are over a month since the Stevie May saga but are still in the same position. The club should have moved on to other targets rather than hanging about until the end of the window and see who we can pick up. Poor from the club.
  9. I agree, but is in keeping with Steve Brown's penny pinching attitude.
  10. Really can't blame Tommy Wright , if the rumours of his resigning are true. This summer has been a shambles, from having to trim the playing squad by so much, to the farce surrounding the May signing, Brown has pushed him too far and he must see no other option for him. Brown is going to be under some serious scrutiny from the fans now, both on the next managerial appointment and for any further signings. Perhaps it is time for the Browns to step aside and actively try to sell the club to someone else. FWIW, I fully expect the next manager to come from within the existing coaching team - probably Alec Cleland
  11. There was clearly a deal on the table, as the manager expected him to be in the team for the Brechin game and he had his training kit. Surely, we dont give out training kit to every player that we negotiate with ? If not, then you have to take it that there was deal on the table that, to all intents and purposes, had been agreed, but then one party tried to change that deal and was told that there would be no further changes. Surely, all May had to do was come back to the table and say that these changes to the deal were not going to be followed up on, and that he was happy to sign on the previously agreed terms, but this time Brown has then said that he doesn't want to proceed on those terms, and tried to low ball him. I can't see May coming now, and if the rumours are true that Wright has resigned over this, then the club is going to face a very though season.
  12. Yes, I saw that too - it was the McDiarmid Mole, but the post was swiftly deleted
  13. This is a bloody joke ! The first time around, I fully understood the clubs stance, when Vine asked for more money at the 11th hour. We had to take a stand and show that we were not going to be held to ransom. This time, however, Steve Brown has royally screwed this up, and has really showed himself up. Why he thought anyone, in their right mind, would accept a lower offer when only 2 weeks ago they were being offered a higher amount is beyond comprehension. It almost smacks of Brown getting back at May for his agents actions. I understand that Brown was probably hurt and angry at the time, but it appears is if May has gone to Vine and told him to accept that existing offer, without any of the nonsense, and Brown has taken that deal off the table and offered a new one - just what Vine did the first time around. It is doubly disappointing as we have known for months that we needed a striker - Watt was not signing a new deal, McMillan was told to find another club and it was clear that Kane and Hendry are not good enough to be first choice at this level, yet we appear to have put all our eggs into the basket of Stevie May and it has backfired spectacularly. Another "target" has joined Dundee, and again it appears to be because of penny pinching as Brown was unwilling to offer him a contract and only wanted him on loan. We should have had a list of targets, and as soon as they May deal fell through, then we should have simply moved on to the next target. Instead, it appears that we have not targeted anyone else, and waited for May to come back to us, only to give him the finger, leaving us scrambling around again hoping a half-way decent striker, if not two, will appear from nowhere. Brown has shafted Tommy, the team and the fans with this latest debacle, and the whole club looks really stupid as well.
  14. I think that Foster will be at right back with Kerr and the big Estonian lad in the middle. Don’t think Duffy will start tomorrow. I would prefer if he started with Kennedy or O’Hallaran upfront and leave Hendry on the bench for later in the game. Don’t think he is ready to start yet. i think we will line up with Clark in goal - back four of Foster, Kerr, Vihmann and Tanner. Five in midfield five of O’Hallaran, Wotherspoon, Davidson, Craig and Swanson with Kennedy upfront.
  15. Not that quietly ! McPake was in the paper at the weekend saying that Dundee have made him a "good offer" from them, and that the ball was in Mays court, but confirmed that he was speaking to others. He was surprised that the deal at Saints had fallen through, as he was of the opinion that it was done. The St Mirren side of this has gone very quiet, as well as the Kilmarnock and Ross County rumours though, so it may be that he is speaking to them all and weighing up his options. In my opinion, he will end up at Dundee.
  16. So, moving on from the Stevie May saga, are there any rumours as to who these "other targets" could be ? Looking at Transfermarket.com, there are a load of strikers who are not with clubs. Obviously, there are names there that will be out of the question, however, would someone like Gary Hooper come back to Scotland ? Will Keane ? Some interesting names on the list, but have we heard much coming from those ITK ? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/transfers/vertragslosespieler/statistik?ausrichtung=Sturm&spielerposition_id=14&land_id=alle&wettbewerb_id=alle&seit=2019&altersklasse=&plus=1
