Terrific result, even more so when you take account of the fact that both of our starting midfielders weren't in the squad, nor was the captain.

We've gone from being 5 points adrift at the bottom of the league after 9 games to sitting 9th, 11 points clear of bottom and 5 points clear of the play offs after 23 games. A remarkable turnaround, especially with so much dead wood in the playing squad. People haven't taken to Levein but I can't help but feel that's based on past prejudices, he's come in and more than fulfilled his remit so far.

    Agreed.

There will be steps forward and some back but as long as we keep safe and competitive then that’s what we needed from Levein.

Anything more than that this season is a bonus.   It is certainly possible

Got to remove a metal sleeve as part of a job. Cut a slot with a grinder and then use a hammer and chisel to break it so it can be removed.

Done it hundreds of times and just got too confident it wouldnt go wrong.

Had to do one cut with the grinder on Wednesday and couldn’t be bothered finding the safety glasses. Disc shattered.

After trying to show ‘good practice’ to the young lad helping I showed how not to do it.
“don’t ever let me do that again”

Only takes one time, especially with eyes.  Must really hurt! Nasty, hope it heals well!

  3. I spent the afternoon sitting in the Hearts support with a mate of mine, who happens to be an agent, at the guest of parents of one of the Hearts players.
All three know Nick Montgomery and have high praise for him especially as a man manager.

Saints and Hearts have gone down the route of advancing retired players/coaches into management, with Saints doing it now twice in a row. The football on offer has been dire.
Of course finance plays its part, as well as maybe knowing the character and abilities of those that are being promoted but especially with Saints I’ve thought it was laziness and lack of due diligence. Our scouting and signing policy speaks to that as well.

Hibs have have gone for a manager who in two seasons has managed a side to two grand finals, losing the first and winning the second 6-1 . Got a feeling they will do quite well.

Brown looked shocking in the highlights by the way.  Agree going to a 5-3-2  make sense with the players we have

  4. First game I’ve watched since Calum.

As that was too depressing. Hats off to you boys who do it every week, it’s not exactly value for money.
Didn’t see much different to any one else but thought Phillips was great the whole match. If Smith gets up to speed there could be a good platform to work from.

There was only any intensity for the last 15 minutes in which we scored 2 goals and hit the bar. Kane was a breath of fresh air taking the ball in and laying it off.

    Not all doom and gloom.

There will never be a better or more enjoyable time for Billy Gilmour to announce to the world that he knows where the goal is.

Make it so. A full on daylight robbery please.

And some c**t hit me with an alternative to c**cfree plz

Got one out of two. 😂😂

  6. I am very flat about Macca given the job as much as I love him.                               I made comments about Postecoglu recently not to defend him as as he doesn’t need that with his record, but that I was also frustrated that the talk, very early in his tenure was whether Macca should get the job or not.                                             The arguments that a manager should know the club, or the league are in place of whether they have a track record of doing well at other clubs. Football is football wherever it is played. There are managers of Postecoglu’s ilk but they need to be found which takes time and money. Like it or not Scotland is a stepping stone to plying their trade in England and that is for most Scottish managers as well.
I feel this is a lazy, money sensitive appointment.
That said because of who he is everyone will be willing him  on to get it right and most will have patience with him.
Will the new owners, whoever they will be?

    Nah.

He needs millions of pounds to succeed. Chequebook manager.

    What a load of rubbish.

I watched Ange take an awful Roar side with Bob Malcolm in it, to probably the best and most exciting team the A league

has ever had with youth and home grown talent.

The chance for him as our manager has long gone unfortunately…

    Tremendous stuff!

I was there! Haven't seen it since. Shocking that it's thirty years ago.

That, and memories of the Sturrock team a few years later, remind me that Saints have not always been a so called "well organised" team.

There was a time when we steamrollered opponents and kicked their ass.

Some great football played in the early days of McDiarmid.

    Nice!
I had just moved to Australia that year and there is a whole block of Saints football that I missed. All I could get then was the international Daily Record once a week with mostly old firm articles but I could at least get the scores.
    Good to watch

The time was right for Totten. All he wanted was to spend, spend, spend. And he bought some shite.

For every Sergei Baltacha there were two like Paul Sweeney.

Aye maybe. Shows you how quickly things change as he had taken us from the second division and only a year before won manager of the year.
Arguably Calum should have won that too.
He though got almost two years of regressing before sacking to Totten’s one …..and who is our Baltacha now?

It was a really exciting time to be a Saints fan. We rose up from playing in front of 1500 (and far less in the really dark days) as a part time club in the bottom league, to being full time and regularly filling McDiarmid in the premier league.  The stadium move and success on the park combined led to the most interest in Saints in the town I’ve known, probably only rivalled for a few weeks by the build up to the 2014 cup final.

With new stadia not that big a deal nowadays, it’s easy to forget how massive a move it was at the time. I think only Scunthorpe in the British leagues had moved to a brand new ground in recent times, it was unheard of in Scotland. We benefitted from bigger away crowds as well, as everyone wanted to visit.  8300 for a top of the table early season clash at home to Morton in the second tier seems wild nowadays.

The other thing was that first season at McD we won the old first division playing the most attacking entertaining football I’ve ever seen us play, and carried that on into the first half of the next season in the Premiership.

It really was! I remember the excitement driving past as the building was taking place, the big crowds at most games and the good football that was played.  The Airdrie game will always be my favourite and then beating Aberdeen 4-0 early in the season after promotion was dreamy.

The Celtic strip looks awful and the patterning reminds me of their early 90s kits which can't be a good thing. The silver adidas stripes are just out of place. The green and white hoops being different thicknesses is not great either.

for me it is not as good as the last couple of celtic tops although I could see some purist not liking last seasons with way the hoops were done.

That is like saying St johnstone is just a blue top but they churn out horrible strips every season. At least your double winning  kit was decent and what most people consider the right shade of blue for St Johnstone.

Our double winning kit is easily our best and pretty much our only decent kit.

What was better was the Scottish cup version and the only Saints top I’ve  ever bought.

I've decided that this game is an impending disaster. Tierney and Patterson missing out, the Ukraine narrative, Scotrail, the fact that the delay has put us in a worse place than March.

I need someone to snap me out of this.

According to the Ukraine narrative…….we are fucked!

Reality though means we are winning 3 - 0

You’ve made me feel better about this game
