  1. As we get into the signings window now can we agree on 2 things... Just because we've signed some sh*te older payers in the past it doesn't mean that all older players are sh*te. Likewise, Hartley signing dud younger players does not mean all younger players are sh*te. The amount of times people post "but we tried that in the past" type comments...
  2. Can't believe some people still think Sammon could come good - he's an atrocious player and has been for years.
  3. Always amazes me how whenever another team is mentioned, one of their fans pops up with a comment regardless of who the team is. Recently St Johnstone, Partick, Dunfermline etc. Incredible some folk have the time to hang about other teams threads like that - the mind boggles what some folk do for fun.
  4. Would have liked to have seen us replace Dixon but he'll do as long as we have a right back who can get forward and cross better than Doyle. Appreciate we need younger legs but would also be looking at Swanson as a creative sort if willing to drop down.
  5. I also don't think Hearts and Thistle will win their legal battle - the members voted and that's the fundamental difference to the cases that were won abroad (where the leagues had made a unilateral decision) The best outcome here is that the legal case risks delaying the start of the season and that forces reconstruction to have Hearts & Thistle drop their case. I read online the other day that the SPFL have the executive power to force reconstruction rather than via a ballot. Does anyone know if this is true? Faced with these increasing bills and the prospect of more sponsors pulling out, it may be the best chance we have of reconstruction being forced through.
  6. The most likely outcome now imo is that League 1 will start in January and will be 2 rounds of games (1 x home & 1 x away) The fact there has been no chat whatsoever about League 1 starting in October makes it highly unlikely that'll be happening.
  7. Surveying the support isn't the answer to everything. What people say they'll do and what they do in reality are often very different. Also think about the logistics - how do FFC canvas opinion from a wide section of the support? Email won't cut it as we won't have enough email addresses, social media is a vocal minority etc. Not to mention how long it takes to get it out, give people time and then do any meaningful analysis before we act on them. I'm sure we'll move quickly when we know what league we are going to be in and when the season will start.
  8. Hearing rumours that the championship clubs have agreed to stick with 10 next season and start on 1 October playing a 27 game season. If that's the case then unlikely we'll be playing before 1 Jan.
  9. Some folk just delight in saying the same thing over..and over...and over... We won't be signing anyone until we know if we'll be playing next season. At the moment that looks unlikely unless some form of reconstruction goes through very soon. Unfortunately that now looks like a choice between the Rangers proposal or nothing. If reconstruction happens I'm sure we'll be quick to issue season tickets (virtual, voluntary or otherwise) and if not I'm sure a fan fund will be set up to help us survive the season.
  10. I don't understand the 'Superfan' jibes towards SA over the South Stand purely because he takes an agreed £ back each year to recover his expense. I can understand him wanting to protect some inheritance from his wealth rather than dishing up a free stand to FFC. When it was agreed we were looking at regular premier league crowds and it must have been calculated that the annual cost to SA was less than the stand was likely to bring in through additional revenue. Makes sense when recent posts about how the main stand is managed are considered. Are folk just angry with SA because he didn't give us a multi million pound gift?
  11. No reason we couldn't offer a voluntary full price season ticket for those who want to support the club regardless of the number of games they end up seeing. This could be done early with follow up options once we know when football will restart - e.g half season ticket, season access to Falkirk TV etc. We'll no doubt still need the odd fundraiser but I think fans will put their hands in their pockets if they can as this is an exceptional time and the club needs the money.
  12. Falling out with the council re the stadium and finding ourselves homeless is the last thing we need at the moment - a ridiculous idea. If we did walk away and left the council to foot the bill, with no FFC rent, who ends up paying the price for that? Councils are funded by us as taxpayers so we're not only shafting the club (leaving us homeless) but also the local community as the council cut more services to pay for stadium costs. The whole discussion around the stadium and our 'deal' is pointless. Gary Deans thinks its a good deal for us at the moment and being homeless would be an utter catastrophe for us so that's that.
  13. I actually liked how Eddie May was trying to set the team up. Having Lima back in midfield was positive and with Flynn, Marceta, Moutinho and MacDonald there was potential for us to be very creative. Unfortunately it never really clicked and some of the players (Macdonald, Marceta, Finnigan, Twaddle) just didn't live up to expectations.
  14. The pattern on the home top ruins it - would have been smart with plain navy blue. For me the worst recent shirt by far has been the Hartley season abominations. Looked horrible to begin with then the big yell Horizon sponsor on the back meant we had the strip to match the team on the pitch.
  15. Most wouldn't take a refund (myself included) but don't underestimate the number of people who have lost jobs/income at the moment. For those in that situation every penny is a prisoner and football ranks below putting food on the table.
  16. This thread really has hit rock bottom. I'm actually starting to yearn for the days when there were Mark Campbell related updates to read on my lunch-break...
  17. Both - if tests become available over the counter then nothing stopping fans who have had it going to games. That + a sensible approach to live streaming/pay per view could enable the season to start.
  18. A lot depends on how quickly an antibody test becomes available that can be mass produced and available over the counter. If that happens in the next 4-6 weeks then football being played in August is entirely possible.
  19. Uefa have stated that leagues must be completed by June 30th. The reality is that most players will be contracted until 1 June so unless games could be played before that then it's not happening. So it seems ti me that playing the remaining games is a complete non starter which we should probably forget about. There is no way the FA down south won't declare Liverpool champions or declare the season void. The SFA will follow suit. For me the most likely outcome is no more football, RR declared league 1 champions and play offs scrapped. Hearts can challenge all they like but it'll get them nowhere and cost a heap of money. We will spend another season in League 1, battling Partick and Cove for the automatic place. The only way out of this I see is if a team currently above us in the pyramid goes out of business. Reconstruction without that is highly unlikely .
  20. If M&M get us up then they deserve to be given a 1 year extension. 1 league defeat since taking over with the utter pish McKinnon left them with is as good as 99% of those applying for the job could do. Agree they would have ideally picked up a couple of decent January signings but it's a time of year when not many are available and the best options will wait till the end of the month to make sure they can't get higher than league 1 - then its a gamble whether we get them or not. Positive elements they've brought are that we now have a much better dressing room/team spirit, they seem to recognise when and who needs dropped (Durnan, Buchanan, Sammon, McMillan, Longridge all dropped recently after poor performances) . Moving Miller into midfield was also a good move. Don't agree with a lot they've done too (e.g giving Gomis an extra year, setting up too defensively on occasion) . Overall - I think anyone claiming they don't deserve a full summer if they get us up is being deliberately stupid.
  21. Not convinced the squad is too small - we don't have a reserve side so no point having players who can't at least make the bench. My bet is that Telfer and McShane were made offers to leave in January and were given to the last minute to go. Without those two the midfield wouldn't be nearly as overloaded. With Longridge dithering, De Vita was signed early rather than risk him moving elsewhere and then risk Longridge leaving. Clear M&M see De Vita, Longidge and Todd as more natural wide players than Telfer who they see as more of a back up for Gomis. Hall is centre back cover and Miller can play full back if needed. Agree we could do with a better option up front than McMillan (what a stupid signing he was) and Sammon. Would rather see L.Miller than either to be honest. I hear all the 'he's finished' comments but is a finished Lee Miller better than a finished Sammon or McMillan. Probably.
  22. I think there's still a slight question mark over Mutch. He has looked pretty solid since coming in but can't remember the last time we were under any real pressure in a match when he's played. The Hearts game (if we make it) will be a better test. Bell in 1st half of season made some very good saves. Looked far better yesterday and finally full time fitness paid towards the end. Everyone got pass marks though from the new boys I thought De Vita showed the least and will surely be used as back up for Longridge. Todd looked good and jury out on Hall - looked shaky at times at the back and could be prone to an error or two. Doyle far better going forward than usual.
