  1. Its a bampot suggestion to be filed with the likes of Jackie McNamara or Jim McIntyre
  2. Also - keep reading posts about people 'fawning' over M&M and creaming themselves about the crossbar challenge etc but not reading any posts on here where that's happening?! Again a case of P&B posters moaning about the Facebook page but clearly incapable of tearing themselves away from it. If you're going to spend so much time on the COYB site then maybe post your anger about it there? Some opinions I don't agree with here but I don't see anyone who is blindly devoted to M&M.
  3. Its ridiculous to think there wouldn't be interest from decent managers who are out of work. The best time for an ambitious manager to take over a club like Falkirk is surely when we are underachieving - great chance to get an early title win on the CV with low-medium expectations next season of consolidating in the championship there's another chance to over achieve. I don't think we'd need a player overhaul in Jan to get out this league. Sure, most are poor but the style of play or 'gameplan' is really what's at fault - mindless humps upfield to 2 strikers who prefer the ball to feet. My fear is that if we continue with M&M they're unlikely to change the style and we'll continue to drop points. With a change of style/formation, the return of Keena and potentially 1 new centre half brought in (someone to stabilise like Steven Anderson did last year for Raith) we should get over the line. Mass personnel changes can then happen in the summer. Would prefer not to have Housty as temp manager - I think he'd get us over the line but I expect he'd then be given the job and we'd be back to the lazy cast off signings from premier sides who are no better than Sammon or G. Miller. Having said that its vital that we do get out of this league this year.
  4. Pish - Falkirk are a bigger club (in terms of support and potential income) than a good number in the SPL and all of those 'new' clubs you've mentioned. We aren't there because of mismanagement. Get things right off the park and in the dugout and we can 100% become an established premier league club. Any argument to the contrary is just accepting failure.
  5. Can't see any leagues being voided now that the vaccine has started roll out. It should be starting to have a real impact on numbers in hospital by spring. Its possible there'l be a break however (probably 4-5 weeks) with the season then running till end of June. No chance of us being promoted unless closer to 75% of games have been played imo.
  6. If M&M would play our strongest combinations there would be no need to bring in anyone else. Telfer/Connolly - Alston - Gomis - Morrison Todd as back up for Alston/Gomis. Gary Miller nowhere near anywhere that's not right back. Rangers and Celtic will not loan genuinely decent prospects to a team in League 1.
  7. Lee Miller may well be done but even having him in the box at corners poses more of a threat than Dowds and Francis combined.
  8. Morrison is an ok player but not the genius many seem to think he is. I honestly think this is because we've been so poor in recent years we're desperate for someone to actually be decent which I understand.. As someone said above he's been anonymous for weeks and you can't just put that down to marking, any half decent player is going to get marked tightly and most of those marking him aren't even full time footballers. Having said that he's far from the worst. Telfer should have started yesterday with Mercer out and Miller to RB. Todd or Telfer next to Gomis and Alston in the centre. Up front we're really poor - what's the point in having LM listed as a player if we're going to continually play duffers like Sammon, Francis and Dowds ahead of him? On the plus side Gomis and Dixon are two strong contenders for player of the year so far. Shame they're both ancient.
  9. "Shat the bed" "shit the bed" "bed shitters" "shitey bed pants" "shit the sheets" "did a jobby under the covers" Hoping for an 18 game unbeaten run just to avoid reading these (or variants) in almost every single post these days. When did shitting the bed become the go to phrase for everything from getting beat to league reconstruction. Its a shitey phrase.
  10. We're getting what we deserve from this for being in league one. Had we been in the championship we've have snapped their hands off for the £500k and would be laughing at anyone unfortunate enough to be stuck in the tinpot leagues. The govt supporting football isn't like other businesses. Football is the national game, its in their nterest for the scottish govt to do everything possible to keep clubs alive as there are so many who rely on football as an escape atm. That's why football continues while restaurants and bars close. As others have said it would be ridiculous for the handouts not to be equal for teams in the same league. Imagine being in the premier league and seeing Rangers get far more than us, or fighting with Hearts for the championship title and getting far less cash. Alloa and Arbroath etc deserve more than us because they are losing away fans as well as home, are more likely (objectively based on league placings) to have potentially earned more from the Scottish Cup etc. In short because they're in a higher league. The govt giving grants to keep the game alive is a good thing and we are getting less because of our own inabilities over the last few years - nothing else.
  11. shocked face at the prospect of watching league 1 football for fun rather than obligation.
  12. Maybe Sunday gives more chance of picking up additional PPV sales (bit more time and people who work Saturdays)?
  13. Sneddon is the only one I'd see being loaned out. It's make or break for Laverty this season I feel and if he's not going to be given minutes with us in League 1 then it suggests M&M don't see him as a long term option. There should be plenty of games where we are 2 or 3 up and in a position to bring him on if the plan is to develop him. As some have suggested before it could be that his 1 year deal was an inexpensive gamble and loyalty for his long spell injured and inability to give it a proper go up to now. Nobody would take Durnan.
  14. Based on evidence so far, Francis simply isn't good enough. I have my doubts that there is a player in there and doubt he'll feature much once Keena returns. Dowds appears to have more ability but is not an out an out striker. I agree he also looks overweight and less pacy than Sammon so will most likely be benched when Keena is back. I do think Dowds with the right coaching and fitness regime stands a better chance of becoming a player than Francis though.
  15. M&M deserve a lot of credit for the results we've had since they came in. Even with the Covid break, one league defeat in over a year (even at this level) is about as much we could have asked any manager taking over McKinnon's mess. Giving Telfer a contract was widely derided at the time (by me also) but decisions like that, bringing Kelly in to re-jig the defence and the majority of their signings in the last window suggest they're learning quickly on the job (removing Miller from midfield another good example). At this stage I've no fears whatsoever about their management approach. I like Morrison but he has a lot to do to fully realise his potential. I can see why Hearts fans were 50/50 on him leaving. At the moment, he's hot and cold - partly that's down to marking but the markers aren't Paolo Maldini types. In this league the likes of Armstrong at Raith last year played 8/10 every week. Hopefully he and Dowds will get more confident and improve as the season goes on. At the moment I think Keena will replace Dowds when he comes back rather than Sammon.
  16. Another 90mins for Gomis, the myth that he's only good for 60mins evaporating by the week.. Good win 3 nil (as expertly predicted earlier in the thread). Bring on the Airdrie!
  17. I think when you're finding time to criticise a management team who have been in the job a year and lost 1 (?) league game because you couldn't see them running a haulage firm it's time to give up on football (or the booze).
  18. Suspect the changes from the last league game will be Mercer in for Miller and Telfer in for Leitch.
  19. In the last few games, Telfer has come in for Leitch and Connolly has been coming on for Morrison. I think we're more likely to see Telfer play from the start with Connolly on the bench. Not sure M&M see Morrison and Connolly playing right/left wing.
  20. On the point of whether or not we played well v Rangers. I don't think its fair to compare how well we do at the moment v teams of years gone by who were better quality and in higher leagues. At the moment we're in league 1 with players that are poorer than we'd be able to attract in the championship or above. Its all relative - relatively speaking we competed ok given where we and Rangers are at the moment. Its nonsense to call that accepting mediocrity - it just reflects where we are right now.
  21. I agree - he did well last year but had we been in the championship he'd have had a lot more to do and we'd have a better sense of just how good he is.
  22. I think the games against Peterhead and especially Clyde and Airdrie will be a better measure of how far we've come. The result today will only really depend on how much Rangers can be arsed unfortunately. With a bit of luck bringing in fringe players will knock their rhythm and we'll get out of it without too much damage to morale.
  23. I agree, with the amount of part time players in our league, team bubbles are pretty much impossible to keep. Games would be off left right and centre if lower leagues were tested every week. Whether that's helpful to general public health is another debate. I do find it odd that 'elite' sport goes right down to teams in the likes of the East of Scotland league. Allowing players to travel from Tier 4 areas to fulfil games like Camelon v Inverkeithing just seems mental.
