  1. Uefa have stated that leagues must be completed by June 30th.

The reality is that most players will be contracted until 1 June so unless games could be played before that then it's not happening.

So it seems ti me that playing the remaining games is a complete non starter which we should probably forget about.  There is no way the FA down south won't declare Liverpool champions or declare the season void.  The SFA will follow suit.

For me the most likely outcome is no more football, RR declared league 1 champions and play offs scrapped.  Hearts can challenge all they like but it'll get them nowhere and cost a heap of money.    We will spend another season in League 1, battling Partick and Cove for the automatic place.

The only way out of this I see is if a team currently above us in the pyramid goes out of business.  Reconstruction without that is highly unlikely .

  2. If M&M get us up then they deserve to be given a 1 year extension.

1 league defeat since taking over with the utter pish McKinnon left them with is as good as 99% of those applying for the job could do.  Agree they would have ideally picked up a couple of decent January signings but it's a time of year when not many are available and the best options will wait till the end of the month to make sure they can't get higher than league 1 - then its a gamble whether we get them or not.

Positive elements they've brought are that we now have a much better dressing room/team spirit, they seem to recognise when and who needs dropped (Durnan, Buchanan, Sammon, McMillan, Longridge all dropped recently after poor performances) .   Moving Miller into midfield was also a good move.  Don't agree with a lot they've done too (e.g giving Gomis an extra year, setting up too defensively on occasion) .

Overall - I think anyone claiming they don't deserve a full summer if they get us up is being deliberately stupid.

  3. Not convinced the squad is too small - we don't have a reserve side so no point having players who can't at least make the bench.

My bet is that Telfer and McShane were made offers to leave in January and were given to the last minute to go.  Without those two the midfield wouldn't be nearly as overloaded.

With Longridge dithering, De Vita was signed early rather than risk him moving elsewhere and then risk Longridge leaving.  Clear M&M see De Vita, Longidge and Todd as more natural wide players than Telfer who they see as more of a back up for Gomis.

Hall is centre back cover and Miller can play full back if needed.

Agree we could do with a better option up front than McMillan (what a stupid signing he was) and Sammon.  Would rather see L.Miller than either to be honest.  I hear all the 'he's finished' comments but is a finished Lee Miller better than a finished Sammon or McMillan.  Probably.

McLean's cameo against airdrie was exactly the kind of player we are crying out for. Showed pace to get past the full back on a number of occasions. Unfortunately he spent most of his time injured or out of favour  so we'll never know if he could do that again but that's the kind of player we are crying out for at the moment.

MacLean is already a benchwarmer at QP...

  5. I think there's still a slight question mark over Mutch.  He has looked pretty solid since coming in but can't remember the last time we were under any real pressure in a match when he's played.  The Hearts game (if we make it) will be a better test.  Bell in 1st half of season made some very good saves.

Looked far better yesterday and finally full time fitness paid towards the end.  Everyone got pass marks though from the new boys I thought De Vita showed the least and will surely be used as back up for Longridge.  Todd looked good and jury out on Hall - looked shaky at times at the back and could be prone to an error or two.  Doyle far better going forward than usual.

I can't recall Falkirk ever picking up our best players. In recent times only Kerr has left us for you, wasn't he a decent player for you as well?

Baird as well, but he was pish for us.

Doyle and Kidd spring immediately to mind, McShane and Todd weren't away from QOS long before turning up at Falkirk.

  7. If you compared Josh Todd's career to date with McShane  (having never seen either) then you'd put your money on McShane being the better player.  Todd has had two good moves to Dundee and St Mirren and not managed more than 20 games with either before being shipped out.

He may well provide the crosses we need to get out of League 1 but he's another we're stuck with next year if he's not up to the Championship.  I know he has played for QOS but I think what this season has shown is that picking up players from the likes of QOS and Morton (even their best ones) s not a brilliant plan.

Sorry your wrong the strikers we have are nowhere near as deadly as goodwillie. He might just be the difference needed to get out of this league. Put aside your concerns about his criminal record we can’t afford to take the moral high ground If we did where would you draw the line.

It's not the moral high ground, just common decency.  Football is a game - we're not debating whether or not Goodwilie should be allowed to perform life saving operations here.

If we can't win promotion from league one then it won't be because we didn't sign Goodwillie.

  9. Signing Goodwillie makes no sense and I can't imagine this is anything other than a wind up that's grown arms and legs.

Plenty of reasons for this (number 1 being he is a rapist) but strikers are not the problem atm, with Miller registering himself we now have Miller, McManus, McMillan, Sammon....  appreciate none of them are much good but Miller and McMillan will score occasionally if we continue the long ball obsession and Sammon/McManus are not terrible if balls are played to their feet.

We need creativity and if M&M are going to be the answer its important they realise this and address t with whatever budget we have in January - not spunk it away on unnecessary rapists.

If De Vita has been brought in to play wide right, we need someone wide left and another central midfield to link with the strikers & longridge.  Its been said many times before but DKD would be ideal.  That should do.

**edited to add - forgot about Johnstone!  Surely to God he's on his way**

  10. Can't see any truth in the Goodwillie rumour, De Vita seems much more likely but not exactly excited by the prospect.

M&M have to take a large chunk of the blame for recent performances.  As others have said, the 5 at the back + holding midfielder formation is designed towards not losing.  In this league (and even with this squad) we should never be resorting to 3 centre halves and a holding midfielder.  M&M don't seem capable of noticing this or changing to a more attacking style - that's disappointing.

Listed to the game on the radio tonight on my way home and Andy Townsend rated Gallagher as one of the best of the Liverpool team on the night...

2 of the players in the Liverpool starting XI were bought for £5m and £7m.  Makes the £100k we're due a little bit less impressive...  they got Gallacher very cheap compared to going rate for a Liverpool U23 player.

Personally I was also surprised he got that move as didn't ever stand out for us.
