  1. Weirdo, it looks like you and I harbour the same crazy dreams We can but live in hope, somehow, I think this will be as tight as all our previous games against Airdrie this season. It'll be interesting to see what kind of team takes to the field, given whatever possible covid, injuries and the gaffers ideas on how to beat Airdrie. Looking at the table we've beaten 3 of the 4 teams immediately below us, with the exception of Montrose who we've still to play; and can only manage a draw with 3 of the bottom 4 teams, having still to play bottom club Peterheid. So our achiles heel seems to be when we turn up expecting to win, as opposed to when we know we have a game on our hands and are made to perform. Still, we're the only unbeaten team in the league, so, long may that continue. It's the usual silence from Lesser, with no info on a likely pool of players to pick from. You can understand not wanting your opposition to know your top striker is injured or you're about to reintroduce a winger to rip your opposition to shreds; but some kind of drip feed of comings/goings and injuries wouldn't go amiss. It's a nice change however, to be confronted with such problems; instead of wondering who'd be available after a hard morning at work or a nightshift and only a few hours kip before the game. We really don't know how lucky we are to have come so far in such a short time. let's just enjoy it while it lasts. Tonight I'd bite your hand off for a single goal win.
  2. Similarly when I phoned it was explained that it's only for the Cove game that the pre booking, allocated seating arrangement is necessary, to comply with current covid regulations. After 9th August fans can sit anywhere as Covid restriction will have been lifted. Like others I'd rather be at the ground watching a live game in the pissing rain and gales, than watching it on a stream with no atmosphere and only masel' for company. However it's good news that the live stream will continue as a revenue stream aimed at both away supporters and those unable to make the game live. But as a season ticket holder with around a 200 mile round trip to each home game, with the associated travel time involved., which I really look forward to on every occasion. But I'm now pretty pissed off at the prospect of being unable to attend a home match for whatever reason, then being expected to pay another £15 to watch the stream. So much for fan loyalty being appreciated. I can only hope and imagine there's some kind of technical conflict between the company who are now arranging match ticket sales and the company who supply/administer QPTV. I assume the QP bean counters will be worried at the prospect of someone attending the game with a hard copy season ticket, and someone else using their season ticket number to access the free stream. If that's so, surely there are enough IT whizzerds that could work around such a situation. But back to the football itself, I've always been amazed at the requirement for a goalkeeping coach, when you've got a perfectly good keeper, and maybe 2 other goalies in your squad. Given our problem at the opposite end of the pitch, would the club not be better hiring the services of a "shooting in coach", for want of a better term, for the 20 or so outfield players who don't appear to have a pair of shooting boots between them.
  3. I still have a smile on my face when thinking about the last time we played a team from the Granite City at Firhill, and it was in August So just like 15 years ago, we should have no fear of the upstarts from the north east, all we need is to believe in our own ability. Cove are a team that can score goals. We are a team that currently can't. So just like all those years ago, we'll be the underdogs. It'll be a close game, but if we approach it with the right attitude we'll get a result It's interesting to see from the team's listed above , how many are still playing 15 years later, none more so than Considine who just recently got his first Scotland cap.
  4. According to the BBC stats, we had 18 shots at goal with only 4 on target. I presume McWho's penalty was one of the 18. Tells it's own story.
  5. Typically given the current shambles in the club's communication, here we are a few hours away from our first home game of the season and not one comment about the forthcoming game; just comments about the confusion and despair in trying to get tickets to attend or even watch the game. Like others I've had no email, but can't attend tonights game anyway, living quite some distance from Glasgow and have transport difficulties. Am i right in thinking that the game is NOT being shown on QPTV ???? Surely there's not a legal problem with that as well ?
  6. Like others before me have said, a big "well done" to all the playing staff for last Saturday's performance against higher placed opposition in QoS. Personally I'm much happier bringing through our own youths like Calum Biggar, when they're deemed ready, rather than splashing the cash on supposed big hitters from leagues above; like McWho. McWho I hear you ask; I think most folk have forgotten about him already, he was the hit man recruited to bang in the goals. It was interesting and encouraging listening to Laurie's interview after the match, it seemed more "off the cuff" and real, than the usual chat with RayMac; where the same dialogue could have applied to every game all season, successful as he inevitably was. I'm probably like many others. A season ticket holder and the club do have my email as per the colts questionaire they sent me, but I still have had no email about attending our first home game. It's typical of how bad their communications are; that supporters are more likely to find out what is happening and how to support and attend games, by asking questions on a fans forum, rather than emailing the club direct. I am aware that they have issued a phone number for supporters in my situation re attendance on Wednesday, but I'm not holding my breath. Does anyone here know, if any home games will be shown this season on QPTV ? I assume Beardie or a "friend" who lounge here could answer that question. Similarly will any other clubs in our division be showing their home games when hopefully the covid restrictions are lifted, or is there some legal clash with other televised games on other media platforms. Would be nice of the club to clear up such matters, but precedent isn't good on that front.
  7. Twitter news just in, it states there's unlikely to be space for travelling fans. Well the committee will be ok to get in, as there's not a true fan among them, only gloryhunters. Update On Queen Of The South Cup Tie 5 Jul 2021 Share on facebook Share on twitter Although arrangements are yet to be finalised, the club understands it is unlikely visiting supporters will be able to be admitted to Palmerston Park this Saturday for our group stage fixture in the Premier Sports Cup. Queen of the South are currently working through a ticket ballot, with any remaining tickets to go on general sale to home supporters only. Given the restrictions currently in place, it is unlikely there will be space to accommodate travelling Queen’s Park fans. If this situation changes, a further update will be made. The game will be available to watch via a live stream from www.qostv.co.uk
  8. I know that supporters are still awaiting news of season ticket prices for the season ahead with baited breath, and wondering how we will ever get to see our team play again "in the flesh". I presume that even tho' away fans were not allowed to attend last week's Raith match, there would have been a full compliment of committee men in attendance. Reading the list of prices from the other League1 Clubs, kindly provided by BYOS, just made me think. Does anyone know the protocol for allowing the away team's "dignitaries" into watch a game ( I use that "term" loosely and may have to check if it's legal ) Although I don't personally own a blazer, I reckon one of my many local charity shops would have a selection in the under £10 rack. Combine that with a natty black and white tie and old footie medal I won 60 years ago wrapped round my neck; and I reckon I'd be good to go. Free entry to every Queen's game guaranteed
  9. Well done to all at Stark's Park, Kircaldy, for showing due respect to all long suffering fans durinng covid, by broadcasting yesterday's match free of charge. I thought Raith Rovers showed us how things should be done to keep their fans informed, with pre-match interviews/updates, free live broadcast, and post-match interviews as well., all on their own uTube channel. I guess their Club's offices can't be closed and open for emails only. First class !!!!!!! They even had season ticket fans present at the match for free. Compare that with the shambles that our club has become under the stewardship of Messrs Hunter and Dempster; and let's not exempt the rest of the committee; who as usual remain anonymous except when league winners medals and celebration participation is on offer. Even to this day, the official webpage states our office is closed, and that communication is by email only. I thought that the recent lifting of certain covid related restrictions allowed businesses to return to operating with staff on the premises using covid safety protocols; but as other posters have indicated communicating with anyone; least of all supporters isn't high on our "new" club's priorities. Recently on this forum, we had a post from the person who said he was responsible for updating the club's webpage. For Saturday's game against Raith, there was an official "News" item about the game, which briefly told us the game was live to view, and gave the appropriate link to the Raith site. Not a single word of team news. So it's not only outwith the club that there is a lack of communication, but internally too. I'm sure our esteemed "Web expert" would have been only too happy to have added a few lines of team news/ injuries/selection choices etc if he'd been asked, but it seems no-one within our club cares anymore. Despite any apparent lack of leadership off the field, there's obviously a lot going on in organising new arrivals/training regimes/medical assistance etc etc, and there will no doubt be many of the usual volunteers doing excellent work behind the scenes. Considering our office is closed this co-ordination of events is remarkable and deserves our thanks. As for the committee members who are believed to read these pages, you are not worthy of the trust we have placed in you. Perhaps, like the ongoing drama that is the refurbishment of Lesser, it is your concern for all things "Legal" that prevents you from being truthfull and open. When eventually the truth about your inactivity and ineptitude are there for all to see, those of us with Queen's Park's best intentions at heart will be here to hold you to accouint.
  10. A big congratulations to Laurie Ellis on his step up from Assistant to Head Coach. Ironically, today at Hampden saw the perfect example of that very transition being hugely successful, as Calum Davidson led St Johnstone to a historic double cup win; having just been himself promoted from assistant, in his his first season as a Head Coach following on from a hugely successful predecessor. Like many others, I didn't see Laurie's "elevation" coming, having been caught up in the speculation surrounding possible successors to RayMac. I'm sure Laurie will have his own ideas on the current squad's abilities and the team tactics required to get the best results for the club. He's got a decent amount of time, to decide who stays and who he'd like to bring in, before the season is scheduled to start on 10th July with the League Cup group stage. And I'm sure fellow supporters on here will have plenty of "advice" to help him along. Some have called Laurie's appointment "underwhelming"; perhaps St Johnstone fans thought the same, as their team languished bottom of their league, earlier this season, after 4 games without scoring a goal. I think judgement should be reserved, and the guy given a chance to show us what he can do. The step-up won't be easy, after last season's wonderful end result, and with our expectations increased, his task will be well scrutinised. The use of the term "underwhelmed" made me realise, that that's the word I would use to describe the recent behaviour of our Club's Committee and CEO. The lack of communication with members and supporters speaks volumes for their inability to empathise with those people who are the backbone of any football club. It was interesting that someone posted that the club had sent out a brief update to members on Laurie Ellis's appointment, shortly before it was announced publicly. How difficult would it have been to use that same method to update the members, on the other recent events; surrounding the collapse of work on Lesser and where we will/won't be playing our games in the immediate future. Word would then have filtered down to the rank and file by the usual channels. I must admit when Leann Dempster's appointment was announced; I believed the usual archaic way of doing things by the QP Committee would change and be brought in line with modern methods of communication, how underwhelming her efforts have been so far.
  11. NO ground to play our home games in. NO team manager. NO team for next season, apart from Murray&McHugh who are on 2 year deals (allegedly) NO communication with the supporters. NO president available for comment. NO committee available for comment. NO CEO prepared to instigate any dialogue with the supporters. NO AGM proposed, normally held in May. NO one prepared to accept responsibility for any of the above. That to me is a shambles, however you dress it up. But you're right O'Kelly, it's been a sad time for many of us too, in accepting the inevitable upheaval and trying to move on; and realising that "uniqueness" you mention may have left the club along with it's amateur status and it's accountability. And you might have nailed it there, in that we no longer know who runs our club, maybe a Norwegian tribute act wouldn't be so bad after all. Time will tell.
  12. Having supported the club for all of my 70plus years, most of them from the North Enclosure never having the finance to become a member. I thought I'd seen some ups and downs in my time. But if I wasn't a Queen's supporter and was watching all that's developed in the last 6 months from outside the club. I'd think "What a £ucking shambles" All of those responsible, should do the decent thing, but they're probably too busy polishing their League Winners medals.
  13. Derek McInnes is still looking for a job. But I'm thankful Mourinho has signed up for Roma, a narrow escape there
  14. I agree with Alf, well done Elgin hope you can maintain your recent run and join us in the move upstairs. Always enjoy my trip to Borough Briggs a real family club. Our No9 has been a big disappointment, regardless of his front line partners he just hasn't clicked. Still as one of Ray's old boys, I guess he'll be with us for a while yet.
  15. I see from the gaffer's comments in the match preview that major tinkering is afoot. " It might also be an opportunity for me to experiment and possibly have a look at some players in different positions, but we’ll make a decision on that closer to kick off.” I'm intrigued as to what the players in different positions might be ? I wonder if Ray Mac is contemplating on the success of the big St Johnston goalie in their recent cup success. Considering Oor Wullie is so keen tae venture out o' his area, and that given our relative lack of success in front of goa, by way of missed sitters and balls ballooned intae row Z. Mibbe Oor Wullie could be the answer, I seem to remember, way back, hearing that he started his career as a centre half. We could then play Robson and Doyle as out an out wingers with big Baynham and Salim as twin centre halfs, given the versatility in the squad. Stranger things have happened. I remember years ago watching Ian McColl, then manager of Dundee Utd, sitting in the dugout pre match during the warm up ; and ripping a sheet out of his notebook and tearing it into pieces before scattering them to the wind . I jokingly asked him if that was him picking his team " he laughed and said "£uck me... I'd be as well doing that with this lot" Stirling 0 Tinkered Team 1 (WullieMuir 90+5min)
  16. Not often as a Queen's fan, have we been able to look forward to a championship winning match, so far ahead on points, and with goals and games to spare. According to the commentary boys, and I believe every word they say, this match will be Wullie Muir's game to equal the most appearances for a Queens goalie. It would be nice for him to wear the captains armband for the occasion, given the number of shut outs this season, that would be a fitting tribute. As has been said, Elgin have been a difficult opponent in the past, but lets hope their recent poor form continues. Given our own form I can't see anything other than a Queen's win. Let's just enjoy the night and look forward to many more celbrations. Talking of which, where are we gathering after we've confirmed our first League Championship in over 20 years, will it be outside Lesser or should it be George Square ? Socially distanced of course and wearing our QP facemasks
  17. Congratulations to Shaun Rooney on scoring for St Johnston to help his team into a Cup Final at Hampden. And becoming another ex-Spider's full back to make the big step up successfully. Shaun's Dad and brother who were regulars on the supporter's bus when Shaun played for us, could regularly be seen at Hampden even after Shaun had moved on up.
  18. There was an excellent interview last night on Go Radio with Leeann. Her interview starts around the 30min mark of the podcast, a real insight into her hopes for her new challenge at Queens, exciting times indeed. https://thegoradiofootballshow.podbean.com/e/the-go-radio-football-show-12th-january/
  19. I didn't mention the appointment of Leeanne Dempster in my post, but you have. As of this moment in time, as far Queen's Park are concerned, no such appointment has been made. Perhaps you can enlighten us on this issue with some actual facts, instead of your snide one liners.
  20. Much of what I've been thinking of writing about, both on the trials and tribulations of last nights "performance" and the routemap the committee have chosen for us, have been adequately covered by numerous previous posts; and whilst I was deliberating an appropriate response, the above comment from SpiderRico appeared. It made me think that we now appear to be in danger of taking the same attitude of the fans of Glasgow's "toxic two"; in that we're never going to be happy, win ,lose or draw. Just cast your mind back to his time last year, just think how much positivity now surrounds our club, both on and off the pitch, and where we might be this time next year. Small steps at a time, seem to make sense to me, along with an appreciation of all the work and decision making being done on our behalf in the background. In thinking of the word "toxic" that I used, it shows how in a short space of time people who think they're on an upward trajectory, get caught up in their own self belief. Just look at Trump and Johnson who a year ago thought they were in unassailable positions. How the mighty can fall. Let's just be happy with small steps in the right direction, and enjoy it while it lasts.................hopefully for some time yet.
  21. Never saw that team selection coming for the "Bluebell" telly game, only 2 recognised defenders, let's hope RayMac knows something we don't
  22. Big Al, what a question !!!!! If I knew that answer , I'd be out right now choosing my lottery numbers, with a better chance of a result than answering your question. Lesser Hampden when it's ready for use is expected to seat just short of 2,000, on 2 sides of the ground with expansion room at either end for possible terracing. At the last census Glasgow's population was just over 1,.000,000. I'll let you work out a realistic attendance from those figures, but with clubs such as LIvi & Hamilton surviving on averages just over 2,000, no reason why we can't achieve the same. But if my Lottery numbers come do up, I'll buy back Hampden from the SFA (Sorry Football Association), and the sky's the limit
  23. Except of course when we make it through to those Cup finals we'll surely now be challenging for. And then there will be the European nights when the extra capacity might suit us.
  24. Hey folks, have I missed something ? When did Leeann Dempster join Queen's ? So far it's all been speculation in a few newspaper outlets, with fans forums like this one jumping in with all kind of assumptions; which I must admit makes a dreich day in December much more fun Even the wonderful BBC, who never, ever tell any fibs, have only confirmed her resignation from Hibs. In that resignation article, the HIbs owner Ron Gordon said he tried to get her to stay but he said """"She has explained that she believes it is the right time for her and for the club - that she is ready to pursue a new and different challenge, and that she wants to spend more time with her family," Mibbe she's had enough of the day to day pressures of working under the media scrutiny that such a high profile job brings. Perhaps working for a club that's not owned by a single individual, would appeal to her reappraisal of what constitutes a different challenge. Seriously tho' , until Boris the Spider, who has been our best source so far; and so well informed on previous new arrivals , spills the insider beans and advises of her imminent arrival at the JB McAlpine Pavillion; maybe we should ca' canny on the speculation surrounding the lassie's new job's terms and conditions, until we hear offishul confirmation from Boris. Who says it's a good job; when it's not, that's normally one of the main reasons for leaving.
  25. Thought we had to work real hard for our 3 points today. I thought Stenny matched us in most departments for most of the match, limiting us to few chances. At one point I couldn't imagine where we'd get a goal from, as all our good play brought few clear cut opportunities, it was that tight. The subs were the game changer, as Stenny couldn't handle the change brought about by the fresh legs and the front three of McLean,McHugh and Murray; who looked the real deal for all of his 15mins, bringing the best out of those around him. Long may that continue. As this league looks like being pretty tight, with plenty of goals today from the teams just behind us. Lets hope our injury list doesn't get any longer and Murray avoids any setbacks to what has been, for him, a lengthy spell out. There's a fair way to go yet before counting any chickens, but so far so good.
