  1. Perhaps being overly pessimistic but genuinely worrying we wont make the top 4. It seems to be a case just now of one step forward one step back.

The game at Kelty (albeit played in extremely poor conditions) was a game at 1-0 we should’ve been able to go on and even if not score more but control out but instead we were lucky to hold on for the point.  Even at that the management/ players coming out saying “it’s a good point” Kelty are a good side but a team we should be looking to beat if we have any aspirations at all.

Even at 1-1 I’d have rather chucked on Sal etc and lost going for the win.

With our game in hand being Dunfermline the Alloa game feels like a must win for me we need to get into the top 4 and stay there this time.

I hope Rhys gives a few of the new boys a chance most have the team have been ok this season but certainly no where near the hights/ levels we were hitting last season.

  2. That game would’ve put you to sleep yesterday but a wins a win. As mentioned above we huff and puff but we desperately need Frizz back in the side.

As for Clyde, i said at the start of the season they would go down. I feel they may have shot themselves in the foot leaving Broadwood. It felt very much like a neutral venue yesterday with fans probably split 50/50 at least at Broadwood you felt like it was a proper away game. It probably ends any rivalry between our two clubs. Can’t believe Nacho isn’t getting a game either I’m sure he scored a good few goals for the Forfar team that got relegated a few seasons ago.

As for ourselves 2 big home games coming up.  Only 4 points from 2nd Place but a long way from the heights we hit last season.

Thought that was Cammy Ballantyne and Euan Deveneys best game’s for us so far.

  3. Saw that coming even at 2-2, we are a shambles just now. Terrible at the back wasteful up front.

Wouldn’t be bothered if McMaster, Wylie and Jamieson went back to their clubs tomorrow.

Euan Deveney and the young keeper Henderson are simply not good enough. Murray Johnson conceded 3 goals in 5 games compared with Henderson conceding 12 in 5.

Everyone else performing well below par.

Can’t fill the bench, don’t have a kit, can we just call the season now ?

  4. Can only echo the concerns posted above.

Don’t have as high hopes this season as last and I think Rhys will need to be cut some slack whilst he cuts his teeth managerially.

The decision to let Sal go for game time is understandable however to not bring more bodies in is bizarre with us already having the smallest squad in the league.

I do believe if we can get Rae back and a Left Back in we will make the playoffs at least and as we all to well know it makes no difference being a country mile ahead in second if you scrape 4th.

    I’d go on Tuesday;

                        Henderson

    Ballantyne Watson Fordyce ATS

                      McCabe Telfer

          Frizzell                        Devenney

                       Smith  Gal

I’d drop the keeper if we had a choice think his confidence has taken a hit over recent weeks.

  5. Thought the whole point in the third kit was a standard design that could be readily available. Strange to bring out 4 kits. Would’ve been pretty happy to keep last years shirts this season.

    As for the playing side,

Wouldn’t say it’s panic stations as of yet, I don’t think progression in the league cup is on anyones list of top priorities.

Going by the lack of signings been made I’m not getting my hopes up for another tilt at the league especially given the quality of opposition (sadly).

As was said above, imagine this was Falkirk, we’d be slaughtering it!

I’m excited and intrigued to see how it works out but if you’re a player I don’t imagine it would seem very appealing to be a part of compared to other teams in our league with genuine managers.

how many player/managers have lasted more than 6 months these days? They either get sacked or commit to being a player or a manager it never seems to work out..

Think it was logical the club didn’t dismantle the work Murray has done.

When initially we heard of Raith’s interest I’d guess we had hoped Aggy would take over, before he made it clear he wanted to go with Murray.

Then we moved on to Rhys and Dycey. Yes, it’s a gamble but I’m sure if Rhys didn’t feel capable at this point he wouldn’t have put himself forward.

If we had appointed a journeyman manager they’d have probably made wholesale changes, plus we would’ve ran the risk of losing dycey and Rhys two of our best players.

I have been waiting on an experienced coach being announced to help out Prunty and Hutton whilst Rhys and Dycey concentrate on the playing side has there been any further talk of this?

As far as signings go I think we are far more lucrative than in previous years. Last year as we all know and as I’m sure players out with the club will know  there was a real buzz about Airdrie and the attendances at the end showed that there is potential there.

I’d hope we are aiming a higher than Livingstone in all honesty.

Rae and Ballantyne are two exceptional signings and if we can add more of that calibre I don’t think we have much to worry about.

  7. Watched Murray’s interview on Raith’s YouTube strange seeing him in another clubs gear.

Alludes they’ll probably have to send players out the door or on loan at some stage, could do worse than seeing who’s available there. Sure Murray would be keen to do us a turn if possible.

Noticed they’ve sold over 1,000 season tickets already, we’ll be lucky to get half that by the time the season kicks off sadly. If half the 4,000 odd that turned up for the QP game every week we’d have some team.

On a side note Raith’s social media coverage is excellent.

The Lanarkshire Cup is in 3 weeks,  still no official word is it because we haven't confirmed we will be taking part...b

hopefully the deals apparently done will be unveiled soon,   still not convinced we will b e shopping for the game changing players Telfer, Burke etc,  I think we might sign 4 experienced players and the rest loanees and youth rejects, which will not be enough to challenge....

The pyramid system is fairly putting a rocket up league 2 and Lowland leaguers,    Stenny have  signedCraig Bryson on a reported 700 a week parttime,   Lowland League EK paying McHugh 500 a week and non league Darvel signing for far skipper Ross Meechan on 400.    Our highest earners have been 500 a week  full time  is Football changing and running the *Hybrid* has no real benefit with lower league teams blowing our Part Time wages out the water   (All Wages are rumoured and have been mentioned in previous threads)

Likewise I don’t know the ins and outs of what teams pay but I thought it was encouraging we managed to get Easton from Kelty last season another team you’d imagine would be chucking hefty money about.

We have the bonus of offering full time and barring Arbroath we are the highest placed team with part timers. Not all doom and gloom. We might not be the most attractive proposition but far from the worst.

Murray tried to sign him last year and I believe had spoken to him again before going to Raith.

McCabe and Telfer were at Rangers at the same time so be interesting to see whether he goes for him.

The stats you posted below speak for themself mate it’s a decent return Telfer in a poor side.

Players notoriously play poorer in a Falkirk shirt as well. Sure he would do well if something did materialise.

Didn’t know the Telfer McCabe connection hopefully Rhys at least asks the question.

  10. Yeah not panic stations quite yet but hopefully tomorrow or at the latest the start of next week we will hear some news.

As much as the fringe players never really played we’ll need to pad the team out with new squad players. Probably 20 is the minimum we should be aiming to run on.

Bob McHugh was a player I thought might interest us but I see he’s Signed for East Kilbride.

Hopefully get season tickets up for sale too as other clubs are weeks ahead on that front.

That’s a blow for us but if we’re being honest it was always going to be a challenge to hold onto him. If Adeloye stays then we’ve still got a solid base to build on.

Hoping that because the club have put out a right downer of a tweet this morning then they can cheer us up later.

McInroy will probably move up to Raith with Murray. Top end championship probably his level.

Interesting though, don’t know who advises him but he did the exact same to us in January. Keeps his offer open for a few weeks then chucks it 😂

Jordan Allan seems a similar type player to Lewis Jamieson, bit of pace and a hard worker. Seems a decent enough signing.

Rumsby moving on, can’t say I’m overly disappointed but always one you couldn’t fault effort for, just think we could get better for league 1.

Think Jamieson is a step above Allan. He’s the only player that I particularly noticed last year.

I’m sure nacho could a decent return with a decent run in the team. Probably has all the attributes just lacks height and therefore struggles with the physicality of some teams.

On a side note why are Clyde still parading new signings at Broadwood ? Strange.

  13. Saw a few comments saying you’re quite overloaded in the midfield department. Don’t be surprised if Murray finds a way to play most of them in different positions. We often ended games with 4/5 strikers on the park with only maybe 1 midfielder, however, it obviously worked in the large part for us.

Aggy was clearly past it last season and a bit of a liability at times, probably just as well he isn’t registered.

I’d imagine Brown will be decent always looked a step above in that Peterhead team whenever we played them. Think Murray tried to get him to us but it never came about.

It's been a funny old week,   Murray leaves for Raith not unsurprising our maverick Dylan Easton follows him, at this point I am led to believe that discussions were taking place for Agne w to takeover the managers role and McCabe his no2,,  Agnew then was asked to become Murray's full time no 2 at Raith, which he accepted...I

After that McCabe was asked and ultimately promoted to the position of. Player Manager with Club Captain Fordyce himself promoted to Assistant manager

It has been implied that virtually no one was willing to sign on initially, were they lowballed money wise, are they signing due to increased terms of the money saved from the previous management team a figure around 50k..  Will the difference saved by wages be put into an increased player budget,,, Have we a budget to compete in this league.?????

Cammy Ballantyne from Montrose was signed today, Good player and a bit of a coup, he is a clear Murray signing as he had actually agreed terms about 10days ago,  another player that Murray wanted and more or less agreed terms was Scott Brown from Peterhead, unfortunately now the lad looks like following Murray to Raith,  we(Murray) had also enquired about Grant Savoury of Peterhead although obviously someone else would have to resurrect that deal...

A pretty savage release list dropped this morning and all these players were rubber stamped by Murray last week,   leaving us with. 2 signed players Smith and Sal,    and a maximum of a further 6 of last season's squad being offered terms...GK coach, physio and data, analyst have all left the club also..  Is that enough to constitute keeping the team DNA etc together,    I struggle to  understand how we made such a quick appointment when there were clear qualified experienced managers looking for a gig..

This could turn out to a complete masterstroke by the club,  but currently we have a manager, assistant manager and a first team coach and we don't have a coaching badge between them,  therefore no games even if we wanted to can b played at this time,   it feels a little of the Stevie Findlay time and who could forget Willie Aitchison who baled us out,  due to Fitzy being at a wedding and no other qualified coaches in that derby against the Rovers...

we have just had the season of our life 72 points,  , 2nd in the league,   20game unbeaten Club record ,   Football and goals not seen for generations.....I

Time Will tell if this is the right road to go down,  if not it will unravel pretty quickly,   it's takes many years to build a club up, it just takes a,wrong decision to lose all those years of hard work..

My initial thought when Murray left was ask Aggy if he wanted it. Maybe he thought it came too soon. McCabe certainly didn’t haha.

I get the idea of continuity from last season but like you say it will be a totally different team / backroom staff.

As far as getting a coach with the relevant badges I’ve been wondering if we could get Sandy Clark in, in some capacity. Sure he would’ve worked with Rhys and Dycey at Dunfermline and possibly QoS also.
