  1. Whilst playing the medal last night (rubbish score) we were discussing how the DP World Tour is completely diminished these days and how the award of 15 PGA tour cards to the top 15 on the DP World Tour (otherwise not PGA members) had weakened the fields in all but the big events. Does anyone know if there are to be a further 15 PGA cards awarded at the end of this season?  I cannot imagine that to be the case as it will weaken the DP World tour to almost Challenge Tour level.  Seems it will just accept its place as a feeder tour to the PGA which would be a great shame as I used to really enjoy watching some of the smaller events (Spanish, Italian Opens for example...)

Conversely my interest in the PGA tour has increased with McIntyre onboard and great to see so many of his fellow Europeans do so well since they moved at the end of last season.

Law and jamieson have had good first rounds in Sweden today (both tied third) Would be great to see at least one Scot graduate to the PGA at the end of the season but not looking very likely as things stand.

edited to add.....a wee bit more googling seems to suggest that there are 10 PGA cards this season DP World Tour Eligibility Rankings - PGA TOUR

    ETA, according to UEFA anyway.

Bit of a contradiction on the BBC sport website then.......

We knew that last night there would be no Stuart Armstrong, Scott McTominay or John Souttar, with the trio still building up their fitness, but there's also no Ben Doak, who hasn't played since December.

Not until 2020 would disease delay another Scottish showpiece.

I was born the day that most cases were reported.  Ordinarily I would have been born in Aberdeen RI but that was out of the question due to the typhoid outbreak so I was born in Inverurie instead. I didnt dicover until many years later that I spent the first 3 months of my life out at Tarland with my mum at friends of the family.

Was thinking that too......here were are a couple of weeks away from our biggest game in decades and we are doing so in possibly our worst ever strip (only months after appearing in possibly our best ever strip for a couple of games)  It's honking

Anyway this is a bit of a stroll for the wifies

Not sure where to put this, but it is quite remarkable to hear of another Tory MP (until midnight last night/this morning) who seems perfectly at home in Starmer's Labour Party...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd11kvk1je4o

Not sure it's a gaffe, but if I was a dyed-in-the-wool left wing member of the Labour Party, I'd be getting a bit concerned.

It is the most cunning of cunning plans.  By the end of the election campaign every Tory MP will have defected to Labour.....Labour win a landslide and they all defect back and another bloody 5 years of Tory rule......come on if I can see it, surely.........

Made it my aim this year to sort out my short game (currently off 21 and short game is the reason), headed out today to try a few things. Went out in 38 bangs, was absolutely buzzing and feeling on top of the world, played some lovely chips and putting was steady. Tee it up on the 12th and my driving decides to desert me, I fire one OB and one left into deep rough, hack it down the hole for a 9. From that point on I couldn't hit a fairway and came home in 51 bangs. f**k this game.

So 89 for a nett 68 doesnt sound too bad (and for handicap purposes that 9 will reduce too) Looks like you will be getting a cut....well done. If you had said you came back in 38 "bangs" I think you would be straying well into bandit territory.

I played on Tuesday and after a very poor start to the season which saw me go from 8.6 to 10.0....I had a very decent gross 77 which included my first ever level par 9 holes (back nine)

Unbelievably I had to google which was front nine and back nine - only played golf for 50 years and genuinely never fully understood which was which......I never drop it into conversation and usually say "last nine"...i will be talking about my front and back nine this weekend though (even if I have the 36 hole open at Moray on Saturday)

intersting use of "We'd  donate 100%..." why not say we will donate....all sounds like we would donate 100% ....but in reality we won't.

It will be sold out quickly but to those big fat 33 handicap fat yanks to whom money is no object.  Augusta will then proclaim that their course is open to the genral public and anyone can play

Roos has had a poor season, and I say that as somebody who was a big defender of his in his first season, but some of the criticism about him under crosses was a bit much for me. He isn't particularly good at them, but I heard folk at pretty much every game moaning at him for not charging ten yards out of his goal to claim corners, when the opposition team have stuck at least two players in front of him to block him in.

I am going to guess that you are Mattie Pollock?

Not Liam Scales as I would have thought that you would be completely focused on the cup final at that time on Friday night.

Lots of people who don't vote Tory will be getting their passports renewed in time for a summer holiday.

Thus they won't have valid photo id on election day, won't be able to vote and hence Rishi wins the election.

    Just a thought.

majority of those may well have a driving licence though

I swear that Kelly Somers and Gabriel Clark are kept in a freezer between tournaments. It would be nice if they sent an actual football journalist into the England camp for a tournament instead of those two throwing underarm softballs at Southgate.

I went to Scotlands training pitch in Stratford Upon Avon during Euro 96 - spent about an hour with Gabriel Clarke - him taking shots and me the goalie.  He then rushed off and a couple minutes later saw him on a chair in the hotel garden interviewing Colin Hendry - he still had the same shirt with grass stains on it.

Happy with the squad. Wonder who'll be cut. There's no one I'd argue to be in or out. I thought we might have had a more youthful element, Doak aside. Funny all the talk about Barron in the end. A lot of the squad is 30 or over. Not a complaint, just an observation.

I really like how the regular's (Hanley, Armstrong and Jack) have the chance to prove their fitness. Good management imo. Good to have Forrest back as well as Doak and McCrorie getting selected.

Agree with the above.  I am really excited that Doak is in the squad.  Clarke will have been in touch with saff at liverpool and they will have been positive about his fitness and appearances in training.  Last Euro's we were excited about Gilmour and he was brilliant in the game against England (then discounted v Croatia for getting too close to Mount and James (I think) Doak is that bit different and has electric pace.....cant see him starting a game but he is an excellent option to bring on and will excite the fans

I think it would be really stupid to take all 4 provided no one else can't make it through injury. Because we can bring Kelly in if someone gets injured anyway.

I think he will take Gordon for what he can bring to the group and like you say it's pretty much the end of his international career.

Looks as if Kelly today announced his retirement from football - signing to sit on the Rangers bench is effectively the same thing.  McCrorie may well have made the squad if he had found a number one spot elsewhere.  Had to look up Jon McLaughlin on wikipedia to see that he is still a Rangers player and played zero games this last season.

A strong squad. Limited in some places, especially RWB, but we knew we were short in that area. As it stands, just one player (Hickey) out who'd be a stick on starter all being equal?

    Not bad going.

11 Defenders makes you think there's a strong chance one of them ends up chopped along with the goalie (Kelly) but it could easily be Ryan Jack, too. If he takes all 11 defenders it wouldn't be some massive shock, but I believe there are question marks over Souttar's fitness. Hanley too, albeit less so, I think?

A lot to be excited about and the squad does look stronger than the last euros. A lot of these players are better now than they were then.

Hopefully that Frankenstein's monster diddy Lundstrum doesn't cut Mcgregor in half in the cup final.  Everyone else are done for the domestic season, aren't they?

Aw, McTominay in the english final.

    Merde.

No point playing him in that, Ten Hag. Listen to your moronic supporters on twitter, he's not utd class etc etc.

Cooper, Adams, Armstrong(unlikely to play) have the English Championship play-off - Sunday I think...or maybe Monday as its an English holiday then

So this vote requires a 9-3 majority  fo pass, yet reconstruction  or expansion  of play offs require an 11-1 vote

The voting structure is completely arranged to suit the Old and infirm and get the desired result.  ie more than two teams have plastic pitches so that would never pass on an 11-1 structure.  11-1 is to ensure that all the other teams cannot gang on that the Weegie Arse Cheeks (who will usually vote en-bloc)
