  1. Any tips to avoid injury?

Have done four half marathons following plans with slow build-up, tapering etc and every time I seem to end up injured for an extended period during training or after the half marathon.

This time I've got something that feels like sciatica (based on Google search) and haven't been able to exercise for three or four weeks now.

I don't tend to do strength training alongside the running, could that be the answer?

  2. Any genuine thoughts on how we beat the B Team suggestion for good?

I think everyone wants the best for Scottish football, but B Teams are wildly unpopular with the majority of Scottish football fans as far as I can tell. Every attempt at change hat focuses on them feels like such a waste of time and not sure why those in charge don't get the message.

We don't do boycotts particularly well in Scotland and would be impossible to organise. The social media and particularly Twitter response was amazing this time, but that probably took off because it was a yes/no with a concrete vote to rally against.

Is there anything we can do?

One for league 2 fans. Would you change your mind now re the automatic relegation/promotion between the LL and L2 to make it easier for teams to get back up?

    What would that mean?

10th goes down automatically and 9th in a playoff?

LL v HL winner straight up then runner-up plays 9th?

Doesn't make it significantly more likely that a team would come back up, so if I was a club Chairperson I would be saying no.

If the bottom league was expanded to 18 teams with two automatic relegation spots and a playoff then maybe.

If I take it from my position, if someone contacted me out of the Blue, I’m not sure I would have responded to them at all. However, they did,, and I thought their response was commensurate with the random enquiry.

I tend to agree. I would have ignored it too.

I just think the response they did give suggests that they are not going to be open and honest with their actual fans, which I don't think is ideal.

    I suppose if the Spartans fans don't care then it's a non-issue.

I agree that they should be open with their fans, but not with some random who emails them out of the Blue.

Not sure if you're deliberately not getting this point, but the email response is along the lines of "we won't publish our response" rather than "we're not telling you in particular".

Surely you can see the difference? Maybe they worded their response poorly if you know something we don't?

I’m defending them because you and others are making assumptions based on one email to a random nobody. Do you know which they are voting???

I don't know if I've assumed how they'll vote (a while since I posted and haven't looked back), but my issue is more with the fact that they seem to be saying they're not going to be transparent at all with fans.

I just don't understand why a football fan would try to defend a club keeping secrets from its fans.

I guess if the Spartans fans don't care then fine, but surely you'd agree with the general principle that clubs should be open and honest with fans (which their response suggests they won't be)?

  7. Would I be right to assume that the club support the introduction of the Conference League?

Feels like it has been radio silence from the club, and from a pure financial self-interest I could see them going for it.

If we were to end up as team 42 I certainly wouldn't watch them in a Conference League.

So you are basing it on them refusing to answer some random who emails them out the blue, who then was going to post whatever answer on social media?? No bother chum 🤦‍♂️

Their response was along the lines of "we won't be publishing our vote" rather than "we're not telling you" as far as I can tell?

That suggests that it's nothing to do with not telling the random person and everything to do with not telling anyone.

I'm confused, if your team is the Caledonian Braves, why are you defending them so strongly?

  9. 3 minutes ago, Pyramid Watcher said:

They weren’t being asked to confirm to their fans, they were being asked to reply to an email from a random person. They may at a later date decide to inform their fans, but as far as I am aware they have never publicised their votes on any subject, for or against.

They could ignore the random person and still inform their fans though?

Clubs move up and down the SPFL and everyone accepts that. Clubs have now left the SPFL and, so far, have not managed to return. That's even without the cream of the West of Scotland League's clubs being in the Lowland League.

It won't be too long before more strong clubs move up into the Lowland League and from there they will move up again into the SPFL2.

When a SPFL club gets relegated out of the League it is not getting back up straight away and that's because the Highland and Lowland Leagues have enough good clubs to prevent that from happening.  These leagues are getting stronger too.

If existing SPFL clubs are not absolutely confident that they can avoid relegation from the League then the time has come to open up the relegation trap door so that it would be easier to return if the worst comes to the worst in future. Failure to deal with this means an almost certain "No Return" Ticket to the Highland/Lowland Leagues upon relegation.

It's a shame that the SPFL clubs still "don't smell the coffee". Existing clubs which are relegated out of the league are going to find it tough to return any time soon.

I agree with this, however let's say that League Two had eighteen teams, with two automatic relegation spots and one playoff spot (which would be quite generous).

Albion Rovers, Cowdenbeath etc would still need to finish first to guarantee promotion or at the very least second for a spot in a promotion playoff.

If there's "no chance of them coming back" at the moment, presumably that means they're not going to be close to winning the league, so not sure how that helps?

If I was a League Two Chairman I would be looking at ways to close the pyramid.

Until clubs start stating their position there's not much to say. Fans are wholeheartedly against this outside of a OF fans and few absolute weirdos, so this thread will be fairly quiet until clubs say something.

It feels like part of the plan is to say nothing.

According to Twitter the vote is in three weeks.

  12. I hope it falls apart because I won't watch Stranraer play B Teams and that would rule out half a season if we were to end up in that league.

Frustrating that the importance of fans doesn't seem to have been learned during COVID.

  13. I'm not taking his view on the Conference as scathing at all.

To me it reads like he doesn't want to draw attention to it and is pretending Elgin City won't play that big a part in it being implemented.

Would be much clearer if he had indicated they would vote against it.

If I was an Elgin fan I'd be asking for clarity.
