  1. McManus going was inevitable- Gary Deans has already made clear our budget this season will be significantly lower than last year. We are looking at a 25% shorter season, lower season ticket sales and possibly no income for a while from hospitality etc

I wouldn’t be surprised if our budget ends up being halved. Obviously that is going to have an impact on the quality and number of players we can bring in.

  2. Durnan is a perfectly adequate player for league 1- the guy has nearly 200 appearances at championship level.

Our budget next season is going to be significantly smaller than this year and we’re not going to be able to sign superstars who are going to be much better than players like Durnan.

  3. We have the guts of a decent squad already imo. If we can get a better right back, someone with a bit of drive beside Miller (possibly Todd) and a striker to replace McManus, we’ll be fine. A winger with a bit of pace wouldn’t go amiss either.

The SG have by no means been perfect here, for example I am dying to hear what caused JS's sudden turnaround in advice regarding full opening of schools.

Bear in mind it could be reversed at a stroke if things don't improve enough.

Point taken re care homes too, but as most of them are privately owned, and some (think Skye) had previously been warned about bad hygiene by the Care Commission they must bear the brunt themselves. I'd actually criticise the SG for not being tough enough on those profiting wildly from old people's care.

But the point still stands. Mistakes have been made, but in comparison, we're miles ahead.

The death rate in council-run care homes is not much better. Given that it was the Scottish Government that actually bought up thousands of beds and it was the Scottish Government responsible for the lack of testing of care home staff and residents (why were all staff not being tested regularly- something that was promised over a month ago and is still not happening) and it was the Scottish Government that discharged thousands of people from hospital straight into care homes without testing them, it is them that need to accept responsibility.

Anyone who can possibly stick up for the "governance" at UK level just now is clearly not paying attention, or should be examined for saftness in the heid.

    Gargantuan excess deaths?

    Ignoring scientific advice?

Vast amounts of public money wasted on non existent apps?

    PPE ordering scandals?

Too little too late actions on people entering the country?

    CUMMINGS!!!?

    Nonsensical parliamentary procedures?

Treatment of medical students who risked their lives?

    School meals?

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, and on and on and on. And the LIES!! Constant, transparent LIES.

What about schools? The neo-fascist newspapers were gasping for them to be opened. Now JS has said they should. What's the problem? Schools have now got to complete their blended learning plans as a back up for when/if the 2nd wave hits.

Both governments have been a disaster- sending thousands of patients from hospitals into care homes without testing them was unforgivable and was a decision made solely by the Scottish Government. Equally the decision to stop contact tracing in March.

And remember NS was more than happy for the old firm match to go ahead in March and said large gatherings had ‘no significant impact’ on spreading the virus.

Over 4000 deaths in a country of 5 million is certainly not a good outcome!

How does the Scottish law courts have any jurisdiction over a private members club's who democratically voted their board the authorization to call the leagues, and also democratically voted against reconstruction.

If you don't like the club's democratic processes then just leave it.

Because Hearts and Partick Thistle signed up to a league season of 38/36 games with teams being promoted and relegated at the end, and planned and budgeted on that basis.

Stopping the season on a random date and relegating teams based on an incomplete season when some had games in hand could quite conceivably be a breach of the relegated teams’ contractual rights.

Surely that is all relative? Yes Falkirk and Partick would have more subscribers, but you also have much higher wage bills. If say last season, Falkirk and Stranraer fans had been told they couldn't attend matches and instead had to subscribe and watch online, there is no reason to think that Stranraer would have made more of a loss than Falkirk would have. They would have had a fraction of the subscribers, but also a fraction of the costs. As I say, it is surely relative?

On your point about facilities to run a service like this, as far as I know all the clubs in this league film their own games. If managing to broadcast their home games was the deal breaker in whether an entire season could go ahead or not I'm pretty sure clubs would find a way! As it is, I don't think this viable for more than a couple of months for anyone.

I don't disagree with your overall point about no football until we get crowds. But I'm not sure I agree that this is somehow Falkirk and Partick getting dragged down by smaller clubs, which is how it comes across. The issues faced by them are faced by every club.

The problem is that clubs are never going to get the same income from streaming. Instead of say 3 in a family paying £12 or whatever each per game, you’ll have one subscription from each household.

Some of the clubs in league 1 will be lucky to have 500 season ticket holders as it is, so 150 people paying £12 a fortnight for streaming will not put a team on the park. 1500 people paying £12 a match (as Falkirk could get) would probably be enough though alongside sponsorship packages and donations.

  8. I’ll be astonished if there is any football played in league 1 until fans are allowed back. Barring us and Partick, I don’t see any other clubs having sufficient numbers willing to pay for streaming to make it financially liable. I don’t even think most will have the facilities and people to run a live service.

It’s looking like a season in hibernation unfortunately.

The "no surrender" comment was aimed at your man Moutinho who was displaying a very Rangers-like mindset in holding grudges against/boycotting clubs who didn't vote the way he wanted.

It’s not about boycotting anyone. Fans have a finite amount of money (particularly so at the moment). They are perfectly within their rights to decide that they don’t wish to give that money to clubs that (equally within their rights) voted to keep us in this league.

Clubs are not entitled to away supporters’ money.

Why do Falkirk deserve promotion or compensation any more than Airdrie or Montrose? All three were in a play-off place.

Is it just because you’re Falkirk and you have loadsa fans?

Nope- we were 1 point behind Raith with 8 games to play (including a game against them at home on the last day of the season). We also had a vastly superior goal difference. Raith had already played their 2 home games against us. There was a strong chance we would have overtaken them.

No option now is going to be perfectly fair for all teams. But the 14-10-10-10 proposal was much more equitable than relegating teams with games in hand and a significant chunk of the season to play and denying teams promotion that had a good chance of going up.

Please soften the blow of another season in league 1 by releasing Durnan, Telfer & Sammon next. Cheers.

Durnan improved towards the end of the season and I don’t think we’ll get better. Sammon will give us an option if we play to his strengths. Telfer was anonymous for most of the season and wouldn’t be missed.

Pretty disappointed by how many of our fans are giving it the ol' THEY NEED US MORE THAN WE NEED THEM language re: travelling supports / gate receipts.

That's no different to the same arrogant, selfish, billy-big-baws language Sevco fans were using when they died,

The clubs in League 1 voted to keep us down out of self-interest.

Our fans are equally entitled to decide it is not in their self-interest to give their hard earned money to clubs that kept us in this hellhole of a league.  Particularly based on a league placing on an arbitrary date when we were 1 point behind a team we could quite conceivably have overtaken.

    Horses for courses.
