So that looks like the keeper conundrum is fixed . So now we’re scouting a centre forward , anyone got any ideas ?

The board and the management team have done superbly well in this window . Hats off to them . If our new striker is of the caliber of the six we have brought in them we should all be happy bunnies . Not only has he signed 6 decent lads ,but the oldest is 26 ,superb thinking . We won’t have the biggest pool of players in the league but hopefully these younger guys will stay uninjured longer .

Kerr seems to know what he’s doing in this market , people just been to give him the benefit of the doubt . If we sign this lad Paton I’m sure Kerr will have a plan . Also on the consistent dogging of Aero , give it a rest , the guy is obviously going to partner Baird who also can put it about a bit . So while neither is Fraz Beckenbauer , they are both big hardy lads who won’t brick it when it comes to a contest . I’m absolutely sure Kerr will produce the final pieces of the jigsaw and then we can look forward to a season where hopefully we can compete with every team in the division and in all conditions .

Joe and Murdy anchoring the midfield in front of Aero and Jack with Jordon and Pat at full back . That’s a back six that are all on two year contracts and can grow together for next season . Be great if Doohan came back to give us further continuity . If we could get big Drinan up here ,with all his recent Ipswich development under his belt ,we’d be getting an improved player from February. That would be us about set ! We’d still have Moff , Belly , Kelly , Miller , Moore and some kids to come in as cover . Not bad at all . Well done to Mark and his team .

Surely Celtic will review the Ross County fiasco and get the boy out of there and back to a club that will help him develop in the long run .

I think the Drinan thing may better than 50/50 . They have just signed Hawkins from Portsmouth , he’ll be Lambert’s first choice target man . The L1 wage cap will force them to get players out on loan ...

Thing is we’re two or three players : keeper , centre forward and perhaps a left side central midfield player , that is about 6ft 2in tall and has a good pedigree and can cover left back away from our first 11. Our bench will require guys like Paton who can come on and do a job while not costing the earth .

If that’s Bell beside him in orange boots then it put mystery boy in at about 6ft 2 in .... ah hem ....

I’m thinking more of where our priority’s lie . Got a feeling Drinan will rock up on loan when the dust settles down south , same rules for an on loan keeper . If that’s a gimme then our next priority would be a left sided central midfielder who can do a shift at left back . Kerrs talk of pedigree would suggest time spent at Rangers or Celtic , maybe a current or former U21 international . Also perhaps playing in the Premier but has done time in the Championship like our recently signed centre half Jack Baird . Just saying ...

So two keepers training with us from English clubs . Would it be safe to say they are this weeks loan options ? That being the case the permanent signing then has to be a striker or a midfielder . If it’s a striker ,then that would rule out Drinan . I’m more inclined to think it’s a midfielder , as Murdock must be a worry ,while we’re pretty short in that area . The striker debate is interesting , but the advantage a proper centre forward up top who can hold up the ball gives you is that apart from everything already mention ,he can buy a defence some time to reset before they are perhaps attacked again. Nothing worse than clearing your lines only for another wave of attack hitting you before you have your line set and advancing to press ...

I don’t think McLennan is too far fetched , he is currently fourth or fifth choice up there and when Sam Cosgrove gets back his first team chances will get slimmer . We all know the importance of boys of his age getting games . Maybe Hartley has taken notice of what we did with LS , Rose and Harvie and rather than just free boys who are U21 international class ,better to put them out to a club with a record of giving them games and good coaching (Ross County need not apply) . If they come back to Aberdeen still unable to break in then they can always be released then. At leat they can be assured that they didn’t through the baby out with the bath water . Hartley also say in the interview after the Hibs game that a few of his younger players would be going out on loan . Anyway we can’t have U21 squads without Ayr United players in it , it’s just wrong .
