  1. He’s 32 in July FFS. It’s hardly as if he’s finished. A 36 year old Brian Graham had most of our defence running in circles three times over the last five weeks.
  2. Airdrie are a striker and a competent goalkeeper off a title bid next season, provided our squad & manager aren’t decimated after 3 matches on BBC Scotland over the last 2 weeks.
  3. Given his agency, I think Mochrie is a stick on to end up at Airdrie. Fits the mould of an McCabe-ball player, too… never really hit the heights despite being a promising young player. Welcome on board, Chris.
  4. What a player McBeth is. Some find from Thistle, can’t imagine they’ll hang on to him for too long… particularly if they don’t go up. Think we’ve seen exactly why we’re the fourth placed team here. Some really nice attacking play going forward but contemptuous in defence.
  5. Any chance someone like Hibs, Dundee, St Mirren take a punt on Paton next season? Of all the top scorers in this division I think he’s probably most desirable given his age. He might be a fanny but he can certainly put the ball in the net and its something that these teams in the top division have been missing.
  6. Some proper cranium detachments from Airdrie fans after last nights result. So imagine what will happen if we get tossed out the play-offs at the first attempt. Truth being that we should really be looking at this as a free hit & a total bonus after the season we’ve had. From the outset we’d have taken eighth but here we are. Am I, however, being ambitious thinking we’ll be 5-0 up by half time again? No. Play-offs. What a laugh.
  7. I think due to McCabe’s varied history he will have more contacts in the game which will make him more attractive. Doolan has absolutely done a great a job at Thistle but he went in there knowing the club from back to front & top to bottom after years as a player. Both of them have done stellar jobs this term so will be interesting to see what kind of paths they take. Is the Imrie train as strong this year? They had a 14 game unbeaten run bookended by relegation form, which seems to coincide with two players coming into the team. I think Imrie’s stock is certainly a good bit lower than this time last year, and of the three or four managers that would be looked at to take a step up, I think he’s probably at the back of the queue now… plus he shat himself in high school.
  8. I can see a team being made up of 11 daft wee boys while the other rest some players for the promotion playoff.
  9. This is what worries me. We appointed Murray which progressed the club to a point where Rhys took over and ultimately got the material success. Could argue that this regime has a “100% hit rate” manager wise, but can lightning really strike thrice?
  10. I’m trying not to get too uptight about McCabe’s contract situation. The club, particularly over the last five years, keep themselves very tight lipped about terms and dealings and McCabe himself even said they like to keep it all in house. I’ve also had the realisation that Rhys is probably too good for us and he will obviously move on. When he does so he will do with our best graces, given the last two season under his tutelage. Only recently have I started to hear his name touted in the Sportsound & Superscoreboard discourse in connection with the Manager of the Year award, so perhaps the penny is dropping with some in the media and we can expect to hear him quoted for jobs instead of the usual Racists and Wife Beaters that they try to push.
  11. Ian Murray has done more for Airdrie this season than he did in three years with us, so on that basis… yes.
  12. That is a cracker for Ayr. Minimalist and classical. Unconfirmed but hearing Airdrie’s new strip will feature The Red Diamond.
  13. Tom English and Michael Stewart at it again. Have turned it off.
  14. I think Paton will get a move to the Premiership this summer. Someone like a Hibs will take a punt on him a-la Shankland and Nesbit. Only eight players in the Championship have got into double figures goals this season, three of them for Dundee Utd. And one of them is 36. Mad how difficult it is to find a reliable striker at this level. I did spend some time on Transfermarkt looking at out of contract players the usual suspects that won’t be short of an option will be McInroy, Easton etc. But a few I’d take a punt on would be Cameron Harper and Roddy McGregor (Inverness) and Grant Savoury (QP). Must admit, after last season’s play-off victory I did think that the club left it too long to announce players and season tickets. We’ve had a right good season again this year and we should be capitalising on the feel-good factor around the team at the moment.
  15. If Michael Stewart was in the studio he’d still be harping on about how Neil Lennon wasn’t appointed. I think moving Stewart away from the studio is a move in the right direction, but still hearing far too much of his voice. When does his cameo as an Alba party MSP candidate start again?
  16. Bit encouraging that coming off the back of a scudding at FIrhill. Don’t know what Utd were playing at, camped on their 18 yard line for large parts of the game, allowing us to play in front of them… maybe that’s Jim getting them prepared for how they’ll play in the Prem. As for the exuberance of the Dundee Utd faithful, well we enjoyed our time at New Douglas Park last May and also at The Falkirk Stadium in March, so suppose we’ll take that one on the chin… literally.
  17. Wee brown envelopes kicking about Hampden with a “Black Rooster” stamp on it imo.
  18. Mcbookie offering 10/1 on Airdrie going up if anyone fancies a flutter.
  19. He’s like a Dabrowski but without the wondersaves that anyone watching Friday night’s Inverness vs Raith match would’ve seen.
  20. And still the only one I’d have in our team would be Brian Graham at 36 years old. I think the rest of your comments are probably pent out of frustration but honestly can’t look past how much of a success this season has been. Right up until the Raith game I was always of the “8th place is the goal” camp but on top of that we’ve won a trophy, beaten Premiership opposition and qualified for a chance at the top league next season. For what its worth, I do think the play-offs are probably a stretch too far for us (plus I totally can’t be arsed playing with VAR) but definitely worth pocketing the cash and building for next season in what is sure to be a much more open league. I’ve even spent a while on transfermarkt looking through the players in the Championship who are out of contract and getting myself excited: improvements wise I think we probably need a good four or five quality additions across the park to augment the squad.
  21. Frizzell no even the best midfielder at Airdrie this season ffs.
