Motherwell seem to actually have the measure of what we're about which makes me think they'll come out on top by a couple of goals in the end.Β

Hopefully not, we're good enough to win if Motherwell are in any way off it.Β

While it was good to hear Kettlewell praise us and show us proper respect (he seems loke a very likable and decent bloke by the way), it also means that he'll make sure his team don't underestimate us and think they only have to turn up. He'll have them well prepared for a tough game, I'm sure.Β

Understandable - but we have to remember that Dale's been having to react to a fluid situation which has been changing practically by the hour as more and more tickets have been getting sold.Β Β

Nah, sorry. Until a few hours ago the fact there was a reduced capacity and there was a real prospect of the home ticket allocation being sold out, was never mentioned. With the home capacity reduced to onlyΒ  3.700 they should have been well aware days ago that there was a risk of it being a sell-out. The fact that only 800 had been sold by Tuesday or whatever is irrelevant -Β  they should have known and anticipated that a large proportion of the home fans, probably even the majority, would have purchased their ticket on the day or the day before.Β

It's pish poor, and if anyone misses the game because of this, then it will be a crying shame.

Anyone else got the fear? I hate we are kinda favourites.

We're really not, you're overlooking the obvious that they're playing at a significantly higher level than us.

We're in with a great shout for sure, but labelling us as favourites is foolhardy.

Some very complimentary words from Kettlewell about the 'false narrative of Morton relying on big physical players' and how we're actually a good footballing side. Sounds like the first manager to actually watch us play before facing us.

    Really looking forward to this.

Yup, fair play to him, showing some humility and respect that some Championship managers could do well to learn from

It's well deserved for a change, but all this hype has got an insipid, 0-3 Motherwell win written all over it.

Funnily enough, that thought crossed my mind today as well, and it would be classic Morton to bottle it in front of the biggest home crowd for years. I really can't see that happening though with the current team and form. Here's hoping anyway.

Probably easiest to park in Douglas Rae Road, at the sugar sheds on the other side of the main road from Cappielow. Gets you right out onto the main road after the game.

There's also the car park in Sinclair Street, although you might need to get early for a spot if there going to be the predicted crowd

Β I am almost comforted to see the confidence of the Morton fans.Β

I would say for the majority of Ton fans it's more cautious optimism than confidence.

I'm sure most are well aware that while we're on a fantastic run, none of the teams we've played in that run have been at this level*. I hope and think it will be a cracking game, but I'll be surprised if there was more than one goal in it, either way.Β

    * Edit to add: with the arguable exception of Dundee United

I remember it β€œwell”. My memory is atrocious but I seem to remember there was a bit of a trend in that whoever knocked Morton out went on to win the cup! (Cue accusations of liar, fantasist etc.)Β

1991 must have been around about the time you claimed you were personally trained by the world famous Dutch internationalist, Rob Rensenbrink, who played in two World Cup finals.

Why on earth would we think you're a fantasist?Β πŸ˜‚

  9. Probably the most gutted I've ever been after a Ton game was the cup QF replay in 1991 at Cappielow, when Motherwell won on penalties after a 1-1 draw. First game at Fir Park ended 0-0, if I remember correctly. Game was one of the first to be broadcasted live on Sky TV which was in its very early years. Motherwell went on to win the cup that year, just to rub salt in the wound.

    I've waited 33 years for this. It's payback time!Β :)

Surely nobody is claiming it is aΒ foul on Holt. Β Even Holt doesn’t claim for a foul. Β If anything Holt has a wild swipe at Oakley.

I always thought a major weakness in Holt’s game was he didn’t like it when things got physical. Β

It was clearly Holt who was fouling Oakley, not the other way around as claimed by Goodwin and many United fans. Sour grapes.

Goodwin and many other managers in the league confuse strength with 'aggression'.

Not bad for a team that doesn't play fitba the right way.Β

Radio Scotland were also buying into Goodwin's narrative that we're a bunch of hammer throwers, stating to the Ton fan that called in that 'it sounds like you were the piano movers and Dundee United were the piano players', or words to that effect. Neither they nor Goodwin had the grace or decency to acknowledge the first two goals came from some genuine quality in the build-up play.

While the 'they're good at what they do' narrative we've been tagged with since Sir Douglas took over is becoming lazy and tiresome, if they continue to focus on our so-calledΒ  'aggressiveness' and overlook our quality it surely plays into our hands, as it did yesterday.
