  1. Sent an email in my best Kettlewell-ese (i.e. using 1000 words when i could have used 10), which was hard to do on my phone, but my voice has been sent. Hopefully not straight to the spam folder.
  2. He would have already packed it in once he realized he couldn't vote to pick the team. Also, I was in nashville at the weekend and didn't see him anywhere, so he's full of shit. As for running the club, maybe we drop back to having a COO answerable to the board rather than CEO? Might be easier to source. I do think a lot of assumptions are being made re:lack of planning/direction/etc. Communication could be better, but I personally don't care about the non-football stuff outside of an update every few months. The society is still very amateur, so hopefully the new board members help fix that. I'd like a better understanding of how the society holds the club accountable.
  3. I received the email about an hour ago. The subject is Junior Steel Membership. All seems pretty fair, we have an experienced person in Weir keeping things going business as usual, and helping get our budgets on track. I know he isn't tweeting reply guys, but seems that he's doing the job otherwise. I'm not particularly happy at us not having a permanent CEO either, but the day to day running of the club looks to be functional, and it's not like we haven't made big decisions in this period. I think some people confuse the board not doing something they want them to (sacking the manager) with them not doing anything. For whatever reason they're sticking with SK, and whether we agree with that or not, they'll have their reasons. How many sackings and hirings was the previous ceo actually responsible for? The board brought in McGhee and Robinson, so at most it was Alexander and Hammel, right? These issues only tend to come up when we're shite on the park. I think our head of recruitment is piss poor, and I'd have him sacked before anyone else. That role is key for continuity since managers come and go at a crazy rate these days, but all he has done is throw shit at a wall.
  4. Is it possible our players can't see Ross Tierney? I don't think any of them can look down.
  5. Back three of mcginn Blaney and O'Donnell, Spencer on the right, wilkinson on the left, the killer b's up front, and kettlewell in midfield, hitting people with a loaded clipboard.
  6. We need to practice not ignoring wee guys at crosses, are we only looking up?
  7. Yeah, I'm guessing he either meant that the players didn't have the right to expect the fans to travel all that way to support them, or that the fans shouldn't have to go up there on a Tuesday. Either way, nice gesture to put himself out there and apologize, ruined by him not knowing what words mean.
  8. I understand that not every signing will work, and some players take time to bed in. Davor has played 100+ professional games and has been called up internationally, there is absolutely no way he's "wilkinson in midfield" bad. I get that Gent can't defend, but who can right now?
  9. So, SK said we'd be looking to bring in one or two in january, which isn't a surprise. Where would you see us adding someone? My assumption is a defender and a midfielder based on our current situation. Ideally a midfielder with some mobility, and a defender that can do what Butcher did last season. I don't think we have any loanees coming back, nor the option to break any of our loans (not that I'd want to). Any outs? I don't think we have enough of a squad for that, with three kids on the bench each week. We have spittal, slats, and Kelly all up in the summer, so its possible something could happen with them.
  10. Was also there, and was tempted to leave early. Glad I didn't.
  11. Our organization was near perfect, and evey player stuck to their task. We did a good job of keeping our composure the few times we had the ball and not just punting it (until the last 10 at least). I'd expect to see that lineup for a few games, as we were more solid and organized, Scoring from a corner and not conceding from one was also nice. Is Mikey Johnston just going to be a celtic reserve forever?
  12. With you on the hangman/swerve match, swerve is a fucking star. The main event was a really good match, but the story is weird now.
  13. Australia fought tooth and nail for that, India not so much. Once the ball stopped swinging round corners for Bumrah and Shami, Head and Marnus knew they could nurdle the score away if they had to, and they were prepared to do that. India just slouched around in the field for 30 overs, as opposed to the aussies, were also excellent in the field, and forced wickets by keeping things tight. I was on the fence about who i wanted to win, but Kohli with his usual antics, screaming in Marsh's face when he got out, turned it for me. That guy is a w**k. Head doing the cricket equivalent of getting subbed in the 89th minute to get the applause for himself was a nice touch Looking forward to work tomorrow.
  14. At the time it seemed pretty unanimous that Moult was no, and that we were surprised that we were trying to keep mandron. If moult stays fit playing in the second teir, good for him, but there were few arguments when we didn't go for him. The players we have have shown that they can be good, but unfortunately a few are out of form.
  15. Yep, we are way overthinking it. Throwing more strikers at the problem would only work if the strikers were actually good. We now have beireth fit, and he's probably better suited to being the lone striker than anyone else, so i think we should go back to the formation that produced our best performances this season. We have davor and Butcher fit, so one of them can fill the spot left by Miller. When SK joined, he seemed to have no problem making hard decisions and dropping players, but he seems to be going out of his way to accommodate a few right now.
  16. Interesting points from SK on head injuries today, and it makes sense. If a player isn't in control of a tackle on the ground, and hits someone with their follow through, there's a good chance of a card, but players just throw themselves at headers with no guarantee of getting the ball. This obviously comes from two of our guys taking serious knocks, but it will be interesting to see if this evolves any.
  17. As said above, it looks cool on a larger scale when there's 50k fans there, not so much when it's 20 folk. I don't believe it adds anything to the "atmosphere", and I'm not convinced it's safe to breathe in either. If the people doing it think it adds to the atmosphere of the game and makes the experience better for everyone, maybe they should canvas their fellow fans on that, but they really just do it for themselves and would probably stop if it wasn't outlawed.
  18. It was him that bowled that last over as well I think, brutal. Why did not one bowler try to bowl wide of off stump and try to make maxwell move? Can't take too much away from that amazing knock, but the decision making by Afghanistan was poor
  19. 2 broken noses and a fractured cheekbone? I watched the game at Hooters, it was shite.
  20. That woakes dismissal had big "screw you guys, I'm going home" energy. The inquest into this shit show will be fun.
  21. Beireth and Wilkinson should be starting soon. Shaw and bair weren't terrible, but they have no cutting edge. It will be interesting to see of Miller comes back in straight away, who out of the midfield 3 will drop out? Surely we change the back 3 for the next game.
