  1. Bit of an overreaction to today. Was a disaster of a result but we weren't all that bad and still created chances, would be more worrying if we just passed it about with no purpose. I think Jamieson made an impact when he came on, albeit against a pretty poor side. I just hope this won't restart striker roulette, I think the right wing position is up for grabs but the other two we haven't better options than Kiltie and Mandron. Could've added 37 mins on as injury time today and we wouldn't have scored. It was just one of those days.

Disappointed with the ref last night.

Think Bolton's booking should not have been and even the var team question the red. Both times he played the ball and both were 50/50s - Dee players reactions were "cheat like" too.

And Toyosi's goal was not that tight yet both officials weren't going to give it.

2 league wins on the spin, let's make it 3

He gave every 50/50 Dundee’s way. There were 2 clear bookings for Shaughnessy, one before the Bolton challenge. I think his reluctance to give Shaughnessy a deserved booking compared to couldn’t get the card out quick enough for Bolton was half the frustration. His stubbornness when it came to the red card summed up his performance. He was atrocious all night and not helped by the linesman on either side as well.

If only referees had a league table as well and could get relegated. McLean would be the Brechin equivalent. Plummet through the tables in consecutive seasons.

  3. Routine win against diddies as expected. Dundee did well to get rid of Cammy Kerr only to replace him with someone just as bad in No.3. James Scott had the beating of him everytime. Wasn’t the worst on the pitch though - Steven McLean comfortably the worst. Shockingly poor performance.

Should’ve won by more. Two games in a row Hemming has had 0 saves to make. He must be bored out his mind.

Not far .to many people think because we beat Hibs (Which was an excellent performance)we will beat a very good Dundee team .

What’s so good about them Einstein? Since they beat us they’ve picked up 9 points from 10 games. You’re as over the top with praise for Dundee as you are critical about St Mirren.

Was going to post saying we don't need to worry about Aberdeen (or Hibs...) nicking our manager any time soon due to their arrogance and snobbery and thinking they're our betters in footballing terms - then saw this retweeted by Langfield.

Who cares about old fashioned stuff like goals, points and wins when you can look at how many shots a team has had and how many of their goals have been scored by the opposition?

Thankfully for us the folk running Aberdeen (DATA) and Hibs seem far more bothered about data bullshit like this than using their eyes to see whose team is doing well. It's not as if we're achieving it with Gus-style football either that makes the eyes bleed. Our players are well drilled and work their arses off - it might not be Pep-era Barca stuff but I'd far rather have that and get wins than be 5th in passing accuracy but 10th in the league.

I’m glad he cleared up that the OGs in our goals for column were scored by opposition players and not our own.

Just comparing that Rangers first yesterday with the goal we had disallowed against Aberdeen a couple of weeks back. One is a boot flying in at head height and ultimately catching the thigh of the guy clearing the ball and ultimately stopping him clearing effectively. The other is two boots touching after the ball has already been cleared, affecting nothing.

If you’re not going to get some kind of consistency with VAR then what’s the point of it?

Also that penalty for Hearts is just a complete nonsense.

I saw it on sportscene this morning. If a foul was given against Goldson, as should have been, would it not also have been a red card? Or am I even more sensitive than the rules these days?

Last time I saw studs into a player at waist height I’d have assumed a red card was coming.

  7. Robinson will think it. He and/or his agent will have his name all over the papers soon enough, just for a change.

We’d be deluded not to think our manager at any time wouldn’t be tempted by the prospect of managing and improving Aberdeen. Just look at their squad. It will never come to that anyway, Aberdeen fans are permanently deluded and Robinson appointment wouldn’t appease the fans.

    2. Bobby Madden - now attempting to adopt the Dermot Gallagher role in Scottish football. Not sure why he thinks his voice/opinion carries any weight when he was just as hopeless as the rest of them.

Noticed Kwon got MotM by a margin - deserved?

I’d say so. He was the one who was looking to move the ball quickly and could do it accurately. Boyd-Munce on the other hand required 3 touches to get it on his left foot before then looking to pass. The contrast was pretty stark.

He looks a player. Whether we’ll have the players who can be on the same wavelength as him to reap the benefits remains to be seen.

  10. It’s funny to see Rangers constantly in this position of lashing out at anyone and anything. Instead of looking into the weak and loser mentality they have at the club, they continue blaming everything else.

Tbh I hope it continues. The day they have an internal review instead of an external review is when others may have to worry but that’s not likely any time soon.

And you're wrong right at the start

They only check for offside IF a penalty is awarded or goal is scored

The fact they did check for offside and god knows when, means they or should I say collum made a complete and utter c**t of the penalty decision by not sending the ref to the monitor, and they knew it and desperately needed a get out of jail card

Collum checked the handball, said it was a natural position (wild but hey ho) so the intial goal kick given by walsh stood and away we went,

What should have happened is collum sent walsh to the monitor, then had walsh gave the penalty THEN they check for any infringements leading to the penalty incident

But he didnt because he is completely and utterly shite at his job and has been for years now

If either Collum or Walsh deemed it to be a penalty, they would’ve checked the build up at the time. Meaning there would’ve been no penalty. It’s a fuss over nothing. Regardless of how they came to their conclusion.

Since we’re already dealing in hypotheticals here. Had they awarded a penalty and missed the offside in the build up, which going by your assessment is more than likely, would you be as vociferous in your abuse of the referees involved? Somehow I doubt it because it would have been to the benefit of Rangers. That’s the crux of the matter here, not anything to do with the decision making process etc.

Both of them are very bad referees but they have made the right call here.

Lets be honest here, collum should have sent walsh to the viewer, we all know that

Would he have found the offside, who knows, you'd like to think so however he thought johnston slapping the ball out was natural so who knows

Yes he would have found the offside as that is not a subjective decision. So your first point is absolutely redundant. He shouldn’t have been sent to the monitor regardless as it was offside. Why you and your club are making a fuss out of this, I don’t know, well I do - to benefit in future matches and put pressure on officials.

As has been said if Rangers are really concerned about integrity (not putting pressure on officials obviously - that wouldn’t be rangers) and all their other paranoia, they should be consulting the SFA on all decisions involving them. Regardless of who they have benefited. More often than not benefiting Rangers, obviously.

This whole thing is barking mad. Caixinha style.

Ayunga is the only striker we have that I think is good enough for this league.

I think if anything showed from yesterday it’s that Mandron is our best option upfront. He’s a clever player, lacks a bit of a pace but he’s the one who can play with his back to goal and hold the ball up. Similar to what Main did for us last season. Especially if playing the 3-4-3 as we have done this season. It was also evident against Killie in midweek.

Our other options are less convincing. Grieve has too much of a tendency to go down with little success in winning fouls. Ayunga, while a good option as he can take the ball for a run, is more likely to lose the ball with a heavy touch or take a shot from a wild angle. Olusanya is a mixture of Grieve and Ayunga. Nahmani looks a good option but also looks like he needs to play in a 2 up front. Jamieson looks a handy player but maybe a bit more like McMenamin with better end product and suited more to a wider role.

It was pretty telling that when asked, prior to the Killie game on the radio, if money was readily available to strengthen the squad on January 1st what would Robinson prioritise as a signing he said striker. Despite having loads of options already. I think the 3-4-3 gets more out of Kiltie and he is more important player than the various striker options we have.

  14. Every outfield player must’ve headered the ball at least 63 times. Brutal game.

We are shite. I have no idea why Robinson insists on changing strikers every game. Nahmani got 2 games then out and looked the best of the lot in the brief glimpse we’ve had. Grieve got a game at the weekend and no look in tonight. Olusanya’s turn to be on the bench on Saturday. The one that is a mainstay of late, Ayunga, is not a striker, winger at best.

  15. Have had some reasonable results during the week. Looks like good cards at Cheltenham & Doncaster this weekend, in particular.

Will back the same pick as last week Eagle Prince in the first at Cheltenham, who was a non-runner last week. Has 6 lengths or thereabouts to find on An Bradan Feasa from their run at Cheltenham in October but at the prices will plump for Eagle Prince. I liked his first run at Sedgefield and then his 4th in the hurdle at Cheltenham.

I saw Bonttay win at Kelso earlier in the year and thought she was very impressive. Did well on her first run back to win, having to give away weight to the other runners. She is now in receipt of weight against most of the field and has form at the course and on the ground conditions. I think she is a good bet for the last at Cheltenham. I also like Windtothelightning in the same race, fancy the reverse forecast between the two.

At Doncaster, I like Coastguard Station. Not won for a year, would appear to save his best runs for Doncaster. Struggled in class 2 run last time out but down in class should go close hopefully. Also taking a punt on Slipway in the last at Doncaster. Has struggled in class 2 races in the past but is down to near enough same mark as when he won last year and with a claimer on.

Edit: too early but for Sunday will like to see Unsinkable Molly B in the bumper at Carlisle. Had fancied this horse for Warwick during the week but the card got called off. I think O'Neill's horses have done quite well in bumpers this year.

There is also an interesting runner in the bumper at Fairyhouse tomorrow, El Fabienne, half sister to El Fabiolo. Will no doubt be a ridiculously short price but maybe one to consider for Cheltenham bumpers if that is how Mullins is going to campaign her. Beaten in her point-to-point run but given her pedigree should suit the 2m trip.
