Higgy signed a 2 year deal when he joined us.

Confirmed today that he's away. Contract mutually terminated. Two solid players and regular starters gone recently so will be interesting to see what sort of business is done over the Summer to hopefully get us in a good place going into next season. I'm guessing Yano is staying put in the dugout for the time being?

  2. Will be going some to replace Skip in that midfield but can't begrudge him a stab at League 2. No doubt he'll stroll it. Bonnyrigg have got themselves a fantastic player.

  3. Hoping Lennon Walker is sewn up for next season. Think there's a lot of potential there with a more regular run in the side/injuries not hampering him. Probably shown his capabilities more at Bo'ness last year than this season but hoping he can crack on in 24/25 for us.

How was Higgy overall for you guys this season ? Still felt he could've been with us another year

Been decent without particularly standing out, really. Maybe hasn't always had the benefit of the tactical approach or role he's been asked to do fitting his game. He's one that doesn't appear to have signed on for next season (yet). Can definitely still do a job.

  5. With Cumbernauld Colts and EK being the only two clubs 5th tier or below that meet the bronze criteria (at the moment), doesn't it effectively render the Pyramid playoffs redundant in the (likely) event that next season's LL and HL winners don't meet it?

  6. Top 6, third round of the Scottish and picking up some silverware in isolation isn't a bad season at all, but I think - particularly in the league - we've fallen short of a lot of people's early season expectations. Agree with this Summer being a crossroads moment somewhat, in terms of how we're approaching the aim for next season. We've done well already to keep the likes of Robbie McIntyre, Broque Watson, Kelby Mason, Euan Bauld and Cammy Ross for another season. There's a more than capable squad there when everyone is fit. The priority would be addressing the depth a little and smoothing out our inconsistency. Whoever happens to be overseeing that is anybody's guess with our dugout turnover recently.

  7. I'm more curious to see what next season looks like for EK/what the long term implications are if they don't get through the playoffs, considering it's pretty obvious how much they've staked on getting out the league this season. Just a rinse and repeat approach for Kennedy and Co. next season and the army of players recruited or will there be more of a knock-on impact?

  8. A shame for the genuinely decent people that were behind the group. A lot of good work spoiled by a handful of wee bams incapable of taking a telling. Only so many warnings and apologies you can dish out.

  9. Can't see us with a realistic shout for 2nd now barring a run of form out of nowhere between now and the end of the season. Still in with a shout for some silverware at least, but our league form - particularly at home - has really flattered to deceive at times this season. Shipping 4 goals at home to a side in the bottom half won't do many favours either.

Huge game for Cumbernauld who are so far 9-1 down on aggregate vs Tranent this season. following the 4-0 cup loss on Tuesday & 5-1 league defeat earlier in the campaign. Given that Tranent also trounced EK a while back, & have games in hand over all teams currently above them, they are very much pushing to show that they're the second best team in the league. Colts will need at least a point if they're to give themselves the best chance of claiming that second spot themselves come season-end.

We haven't been playing like the second-best team, at least since the turn of the year. Maybe with the exception of Tuesday night. Need to capitalise at home in the final games as haven't been as strong at Foresters in the league this season as we'd have probably expected.

Can I ask?,  excuse my ignorance if its something I've missed.  I've been to a few Tranent games over the years including the playoff win against Darvel and been to some EK games in the past couple of years and I've actually enjoyed the experience of watching both but unsure why, regarding your comment that I've put in bold, why it is the best for everyone?  I think Ek this year have been superb in the league, they are favorites and play good football and also spending the cash and as players, I'd say every player would love to play against EK who are fielding a strong squad so they can play against the best and beat the best in their league, which i suppose in this case its EK

Purely because it's clearly such an obvious 'go up at all costs' approach from them and the disparity in quality will only grow more as they spend more to match that ambition. I personally wouldn't want to see them goose a playoff final to have another go at this next season.

  12. Robertson, Thomson and Daramola are ridiculous signings for a tier 5 club. You know what? Fair play to them. None of us would be crying unfair playing field/money bags etc. if our club were in their position. They are obviously flinging the kitchen sink at going up this year. Time will tell if the scattergun approach of recruitment and outgoings pays any real dividend in the long run. I think it's quite obvious that clubs that chase that 'dream' so intently eventually hit a ceiling where the only way is down. As many have said, that may come slightly quicker once Kennedy is out the picture. I genuinely think them getting up and out of the Lowland as soon as possible is best for everyone at this stage (though MK has previous of bottling a promotion decider as massive favourites...)

Yeah I don't think it was a big enough step up. Not much upside joining Clyde just now looking at where they are and the work needing done.

If he runs away with the LL and wins the playoff for EK he will be in the running for League 1 and Championship jobs in all likelihood.

Kevin Thomson thought the same about himself.

  14. Kennedy has built an admittedly very savvy brand around himself at this level for a guy whose recent managerial career can be described, pretty much at best, as fulfilling minimum expectations by winning a title with Darvel and sitting comfortably top with EK - excluding the obvious with the Aberdeen win. It could be argued that his Darvel tenure was ultimately a failure with not getting them out of the WoS. I think teams vying for the top suit the style of play him and Ferry insist on. When it clicks, it's very easy on the eye, but I'd be concerned of that 'philosophy' being exposed far more by more capable physical, direct sides at a higher level. I wonder if there's a part of him keen to turn a less fancied outfit around to prove to himself that he can. I don't get the impression that's his style, mind you.

His name is in the papers, job done !

Exactly this. How often is the vacant post at Clyde fodder for the sports section of Scottish newspapers? Dangling a 'will he/won't he' to the journos for a job that, in my view, he'd have no real intention of taking but will regularly be talked about for regardless. Can then go back with a Wolf of Wall Street 'I'm not f'ing leaving' schtick for the EK media team and circulate for a few jobs higher up than Clyde in the future. Fair play if that's the case. Play the game if you can.

  16. Genuine question to EK supporters: Has this been coming/are there problems or uncertainty behind the scenes? I haven't seen EK play this season, but from the outside they've appeared to be very comfortable this season. Okay, Foresters is arguably the hardest ground in that league to come to, the tight pitch doesn't suit teams, and obviously we are a more direct side than yourselves. Regardless, if your *only* way of winning a game is by dominating the ball then it's hard lines when a team is good enough to not let you do it. But yesterday the two sides looked miles apart. Certainly didn't feel in any way like we were up against the best side in the league. Kennedy having his head turned elsewhere?

Any particular reason for not wanting to wish their manager the best of luck other than jealousy.

A few, yeah. Namely the guy's ego, a couple of demonstrable examples of pretty classless conduct recently, seemingly constant self-aggrandising about his own management style and some pretty questionable public Twitter likes bringing to light - among other things - his willingness to defend David Goodwillie or at least back those that were. I could go on. You're bang on though, I'm sure it all just stems from jealousy. Seems a stand up bloke apart from all the aforementioned trivial stuff...
