It's not a good look when two of the top three clubs are B teams and it will be even worse if they win the league in the future. Get rid of both of them, replace them with WoS/EoS sides and increase the relegation spots to three. I wonder if first teams are allowed to pay their way into the Lowland League like B teams are? Is it one rule for the Bigot Brothers and another for everyone else?

They won’t be in the league in the future? I cannot honestly see clubs voting to keep them in and allow them access to promotion. Clubs like EK will not want an additional barrier in their way in terms of promotion.

I guess you could argue that Rangers B or Celtic B finishing last or second last would have implications for those playoffs as well so maybe George Fraser & co have opened up another can of worms on that front as well because the other three leagues and SFA have to sign off any changes.

It could be argued that is covered in the new rules - “SLFL Champion or any other title related to its position in either of said Leagues”

I suppose it’s all down to how you read it right enough.

    Two can go down.

One from having a Licenced Tier 6 Champion.

The second requires the HL Champion to win promotion and Club 42 to be relegated to the LL. Currently Fraserburgh win promotion to the SPFL and Cowdenbeath relegated to the LL.

Many thanks for that, much appreciated.

Is £10 the normal admission fee or have the prices been bumped up because it is Rangers?

It wasn't £10 when Bonnyrigg were there!

I’ve only ever been down there once, but i don’t  recall it being that price. I know they are trying to make money, but I don’t agree with increasing it for one game (If that is what they are doing), as it penalises the regular lower league watcher.

Well you need 9 clubs to vote for it at an AGM/SGM, so the question is are there 8 clubs who would feel threatened enough by more relegation, to vote no?

    Good point, probably not.

Does this mean more relegation from the lowland but no more promotion from it to league 2?????

I think it will be discussed, but getting clubs to agree to increased relegation will be difficult I would think.

Tell your committee member that the SLFL doesn't need to rebrand if the 16 best clubs in the Lowland area are part of the league (especially if that happens much quicker than it would under the current rules).

And maybe suggest that the bare minimum changes to next season's rules should be that the bottom club cannot escape relegation...

I am sure there will be a few views aired at the mentioned general meeting.

Nothing. There was an official working group formed within the LL back in 2018 that never went anywhere. Since then it just exists as an idea.

Both George Fraser (last LL Chair) and Thomas Brown (new LL Chair) have made references to the idea as a way for more movement within the pyramid. Yet it was little more than spitballing the idea during podcast appearances with multiple ideas on what it could look like.

Any attempt to get it started involves the LL, WoSFL, EoSFL, SoSFL, and SFA. As it involves fundamentally changing the LL Pyramid Play-off, the SFA JPP, and ripping up Tier 6 leagues that has the cascade effect all the way down.

I was sent this from a committee member at a LL club, I believe it is part of a document which Is sent to clubs after each board meeting.

    Lowland Working Group
The group met recently where it was felt there was no current requirement for a SLFL 2 and that it was important to discuss with clubs possible further promotion opportunities into the SLFL. The Board noted there could also be a rebranding opportunity should the Leagues agree to work closer together and agreed to add Increased promotion/relegation between Tiers 5 and 6 onto the agenda for the next General Meeting.

A majority of games have been played. There's not likely to be a disruption long enough that it would prevent the season being played out this time.

Good point, and a lot of the leagues built in some Leeway by starting early.

  10. Does anyone else have a sense of inevitability that we aren’t going to see a full season? It’s looking more and more likely that that the virus is going to bring us to a shuddering halt.

  11. I took in this game today, grudgingly paying the £18, expecting Rose to perhaps cause a wee shock. It was not to be, and Alloa were worthy winners, my only concern for Rose in the league play-offs is perhaps the lack of pace in the team, particularly at the back, as I feel they can be got at. I hope this can be addressed before the end of the season as I would love to see them go up.
