"They're good at what they do". Bowyer is absolutely rattled. Pleasing.

Don't see how he's rattled, because you are good at what you do?

Very obvious game plan to be organised defensively, physical in the tackle, and getting in the other team's faces when on the ball. After watching you play us three times there's never been anything that looks like attacking, liquid football, it's been the same style of play - which as Bowyer's said - you are good at.

  2. How was the young lad in goal? Would anyone say he looked.... Sharp?

Didn't make it through for the game and having only seen the highlights it looks as though he could've done a wee bit better for the goal but did the job other than that?

I've suggested it on here before, and I know that he was only playing due to injuries/covid, but I'd like to stick with him for a a few more games to see if he's got anything about him. Personally I think we're done for this season so it would be nice to see if he could be a potential long-term solution to the current dog shit goalkeeping options we have.

Felt like Porteous in a weird way helped get his fellow CH Rocky sent off. Porteous was having a wee battle with Danny Mullen and providing some much needed entertainment in a game lacking by trying to do the wind up act that he does quite well. Other CH moments later thinks he can join in after getting a bit hyper from Porteous' actions on the act and slaps McGowan in the pus right in front of the linesman.

Porteous is an absolute dick, but I needed something to stop me from freezing to death tonight and he was the only entertainment on show all night even if it was with him being pantomime villain.

Enjoyed him telling McGhee to sssh as he went down to waste some time and the ref just stood there without a clue of what to do. Punting the ball right out past the Derry was another daft moment.

If it wasn't so cold and having resigned myself to going down this season, I'd have been bloody seething about it mind.

Totally agree with this, spent the game acting as if he wasn't getting wound up by the continuous booing and Mullen not giving him a minutes peace but he very much was.

Admittedly I've only seen the lad play a few times and always thought that against a team who'll sit off he looks like he cigars it, but as soon as Mullen and McGowan pressured him a bit he totally crumbled - think the multi-million pound figures being banded about previously for him are nonsensical.

    No Daley-Campbell 😮 he’s been a great signing

Very good point and totally agree.

I forgot about him, have done so since he had his red card ban - would put him on the right of the five.

Stick McMullen with Mullen but more sitting in behind since it'd be harsh to drop Mullen after his goal and general nuisance causing at the weekend.

  5. I'd quite like to see us go for a similar formation as the win against Hearts with the 3-5-2/5-3-2. Thought that if we use the same midfield three from Sunday it'll give us a good amount of legs in the middle with more of an outlet going forward, rather than leaving Mullen isolated and doing all the work himself up front.

Wouldn't want Fontaine anywhere near the back three after his goal causing cameo at Parkhead and if fit Legzdins would be straight back in for me. I'd go for:

    Legzdins

    McGhee - Sweeney - Rossi

    McMullan - Anderson - Byrne - Mulligan - Kerr

    Mullen-Rudden

  6. Looks like I've got a case of egg on the face after my shouts of giving Lawlor a go in the sticks. I was hoping that after Hearts and his shaky start he might've gained confidence but I reckon he was at fault for the first two goals with Fontaine shouldering the blame for the winner. So with the keepers we have Legzdins has my vote of confidence (as much as that counts for) as he seems to be at fault for a goal every few games rather than one every game.

Decided to bide my time before weighing in on McGhee's appointment - the input from Motherwell fans who give him credit for turning them round might ease a bit of the underwhelming reception he's received. It's likely going to be one of either a masterstroke and he takes us up the league or a complete disaster and we sink like a lead balloon, so f**k it I'm going all in with it. Hopefully he provides a few laughs along the way whichever way it goes.

One thing is for certain and it's echoing near enough all Dundee fans' thoughts: Nelms is extremely incompetent.

Ryan Conroy, possible the most one footed player to ever play for Dundee playing on the opposite side is a bold shout from Peterhead.

McInally noticed the tactics masterstroke from McPake playing Cammy at LB and decided he’d take a page out that book.

  8. Any idea of the formation from first glance looks to be 4-5-1, thought we played really well when it was mixed up against Hearts so thought McPake might’ve stuck with it.

Shame we’ve only got one available striker, not even one of the youth laddies given a shout for the bench.

Was really impressed with Lawlors kicking last night. Had plenty pass backs and every kick was excellent which we're not used to seeing with Legzdins.

Looked shaky (being nice) at the beginning but pulled off some tremendous saves which led to our win. Looking forward to seeing his progression starting at Peterhead.

If i  was to be negative, don't think Mulligan showed much apart from great work rate and effort. Find it very strange Chapman not getting minutes; is he one of them pointless January signings. Too early to tell of course.

Peterhead is a must win, taking us into a quarter final. A bit of luck and we could be back at Hampden.

Forget about Celtic away next Sunday the St Mirren and Livi game the following week are huge.

I expect cup progression and a minimum of 4/9 from the next three league games. Time to deliver Dundee FC.

    Thank you.

On Chapman I was beginning to think that since he was released by Miami in November it might take him a while to get up to fitness with no pre-season in him. But noe when you see Big Kev across the road having not played for 19 months and even more recently underwent a kidney transplant, it's likely he could just be shite.

It feels very Dundee to have signed two Canadians in two years and them be the worst footballers the country has to offer.

Well, that was a shitfest.  Quite an achievement to lose, deservedly, to a team without any clue how to play football.

The Robbie out loyal will be purring, and hard to blame them

Is there a large backing for Robbie out? On the back of a promotion and having a pretty comfortable cushion for third you’d think he’d be under significantly less pressure than McPake.

  11. 3-4-3 is the way forward, thought that apart from Lawlor’s shaky start and Fontaine forgetting how to defend fairly regularly it was a good, organised team performance to remain solid with all the pressure.
Decided to give the game a miss after recent results despite being in Edinburgh, so beginning to question if I’m a jinx and to give up my ST.

Lawlor was the correct choice, you can't know what he's like until he plays. IMO.

Spot on with this.  Neither is the answer to our goalkeeping problems nor are they good enough on a consistent basis to be starting in a top flight team.
Playing Sharp to see if he’s got anything about him and give him a bit of experience could be a long term option but that would probably mean McPake admitting that he’s accepted we’re a certainty for relegation.

This was 4231 when it was announced but has since changed to this, with Mullen out wide. So same difference, really.

Whoever it was that called we’d go 5 at the back and try something mental seems to be spot on and I doff my cap to you.

I'd suggested the 3-4-3, so either I am McPake or he's reading the forum - if so Jazza drop me a PM for more tactical genius.

From the intial teamlines tweet I thought it'd be 4-5-1 with Mulligan in the middle and Mullen on the wing,  since McPake has a massive hard on for playing strikers as wide midfielders but I'm almost pleased that he's going for something as different as this.

Has Cammy ever played RM for us never mind LM? He had a game or two in recent years as a holding midfielder which turned out to be a horrendous experiment so hopefully this one is fruitful.

  14. I think the telling thing about this team is that going into each team we look like we're capable of being on the receiving end of a shagging.

After watching McPake's interview yesterday he obviously knows the pressure is on so I've got a sneaky feeling he's going to go for it, hoping this entails changing it up and not sitting back - maybe a 3-4-3 or something mind-boggling.

Going to be either a massive Hearts win or the cliche snatch and grab with the change in formation putting us under pressure all night but sneaking a win.

It's alright mate. I too am in hiding today! Made the Sunday night interesting though.

Going to call it now - McPake has us on strings and decided to wind us all up with this plan, leak it and sit with his feet up on a Sunday night watching us all online lose out collective shits. Thought to himself that he's ruined our Saturday so why not just throw Sunday into the mix as well.

I think it's the obvious tactical errors, playing guys out of position constantly, from Cummings on the wing to McCowan in centre mid. Every fan at Dens can see these bizarre line ups and nobody sees the sense in them. Add the rumours of players taking their girlfriends to training, texting players at night to tell them how shite they are, the Griffiths will he/won't he fannying around, the Cummings fall out leading to us losing our top goal scorer for nothing, using the last hours of transfer deadline day to address issues that should have been sorted a month earlier, the amount of players knocking us back...the list of failures is huge.

I don't think we have had such a tactically inept manager, with so little scouting ability, he has very little connections in the game and has done nothing to develop this, although he can 'pick up the phone' to WGS anytime.

    It's a farce.

He has no man management skills, no tactical prowess and no scouting ability. But yet he is in charge of one of the biggest clubs in Scotland with a decent budget. The mind boggles.

Supposedly an unplanned board meeting has been called for tonight as he was at it again last night whilst on the sauce - also sent them to other mates in football who’ve passed it onto the players.
