True, from the perspective of a Hearts fan (I get this being from originally a Gorgie-based family).  However, with a larger league you'd also have larger not-quite-so-diddy clubs like Dundee, Dunfermline, Partick or Falkirk being more of a consistent feature in the top league (instead of being perennial yo-yos as now) - as well as giving the odd semi-decent diddy clubs like Inverness, Raith, Morton, Ayr and QOS their days in the sun now and then.  If you shut down the opportunity to progress for the "have-nots" then you create a very sterile and stagnant pond, which is basically where we are heading now.

Generous to call Falkirk a yo-yo club

Yup, the "official" PFA vote winner is announced on Sunday where Charlie is up for not only League 2 Player of the Year but also the Young Player of the Year against a couple of Celtic players and a Rangers one too.

    Incredible achievement

  3. Absolutely Glorious! First half seemed to last about 3 hours but we managed to ride out the sticky spell and were in pretty much control second half. Probably the best Scotland performance I have seen in 38 years. Absolutely no failures. Atmosphere looked electric. Glad I got tickets for the Georgia game a few weeks ago as I reckon they will be all gone by tomorrow.

  4. Thought this might be a potential banana skin but glad we came away with the 3 points. Good goal by Donnelly and solid penalty from Taggart as usual. Liked Ricey's comment in his interview regarding ourselves having won 3 in 3 after being asked about the in form Airdrie. Should be a cracker next week.

This really could be a horrendous season for Falkirk.   A loss v Inverness in the Semi final, followed by a McGlynn bottle masterclass in the playoffs, would be the absolute chefs kiss to finish the season.

Another season in League 1 for Falkirk triggers decisions that your board will simply have to make to ensure you avoid administration.  Part time/hybrid football or what will be the next step?  You won’t make THAT much out the cup run to be able to cover up all the losses.

After all the hope and hype you’ve been crowing about this season too, makes it all that bit more sweeter for us.

Go on, make it a right laugh and choke against Clyde, we’ll see you on the 8th 😉 would be a perfect way for us to win this league.

To be fair, what @parsboisays is pretty accurate. Fair play with the cup run, and I actually hope you make the final, but league wise, you are lucky Edinburgh are starting to falter. We have not been particularly good this season and  are only 4 points behind you (albeit you have a game in hand). On the flip side, ourselves and Airdrie have won our last 3 games.  I guess it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things whether we (or Falkirk, Airdrie or Edinburgh) finish 2nd or 4th (I don't think the Championship clubs are to be feared), but another season down here for you guys would be pretty disastrous.

  6. Shows how far we have come when a 3-0 win still conjures grumbles of discontent from a few.

Agree parts of the game were a bit flat, however i don't think we were in any danger of dropping points at any stage, including Cyprus' 10 min spell on the offensive.

Actually thought Armstrong was one of our best players today, certainly involved in most of our attacking play before he went off.

I really hope we give it a go on Tuesday. Christie should probably get the nod in the supporting role. Without sounding overly optimistic, we should give it our best shot to top this group. Not saying it will happen, but I don't think its entirely unattainable. 3rd place is also completely feasible as well! As always, we live in hope!

  7. Great win today and shout out to Ricey for the bold triple sub at half time, when you think about it, not a bad trio of players to bring on at this level.

Cracking goal, and delighted with the win.

I think we are where most would have anticipated us to be prediction - wise at the start of the season( the Rice out patter a few weeks ago was comical), hopefully no more performances like Airdrie and I think we will be in with a good shout of top 4.

Yeah, but does it not just get boring? You go into the season knowing you'll probably going to win it anyway? There's not a lot of surprise. I'm not so much meaning embarrassed about it but Celtic fans often talk about why other teams don't try compete when there's a glaring advantage from day 1 of each season. Of course teams are going to sit in, and mainly just write the game off and be happy to get past it.

Apart from games once in a blue moon where Celtic are caught cold they just tend to win without much worry, is it really that fun or are Celtic fans just there in general.

Aye they complain about other teams not competing, then go into full blown meltdown mode on the odd occasion they draw or get beat. I very much enjoy the anticipation on a Saturday before the game knowing that we could either win or get pumped. Watching the polite applause that followed Celtic’s goals tonight, doesn’t seem like there is the same buzz (unless it’s Sevco or Champions League/Europa League/Conference league).

  9. How does it work with the student sides, can they only play for the team if they are an active student at the Uni, or are they able to buy and sign like other teams? Just interested as I'd imagine the former would create a very high turnover of players over a short period of time.

  10. We still have half the season left. I think we will go on a very good run at some point in the second half of the season, i do agree we need to see a more settled and consistent side picked for a bit but injuries and absences have gone against us at times. Not sure we can catch Dunfermline but defo see no reason why we won’t be there or there abouts come the end of the season for a playoff spot, which ultimately was the aim at the start of the season. This ‘Rice Out’ chat is wild!

Clyde fans don't need to worry,at this rate Clyde will overtake us in the league anyway, you were the better team.We are absolutely rank.Sammon is a waste of a shirt,we play our better players out of position, and Rice is a bang average manager. We are now sliding down the league, and it's hard to see us improving anytime soon. This has been on the cards for some time now.

As much as it is frustrating, we are only 4 points off 2nd and 18 ahead of Clyde..

They managed to finish third in a group involving Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Belarus.

They had six points from the first three games (they lost 2-1 at home to Azerbaijan) and some boffin account had them 99.4% chance of pot 4, then they proceeded to lose to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan (again) and could only manage a 1-1 at home to Belarus.

    Disaster of a campaign

An absolute shiter by the sounds of it. Shows how quickly things can change in International football, they were looked at as a superior team only a year or 2 ago.

I’ve never heard or seen any of this sort of stuff in the South Stand. Is that the old man’s stand?

I was in the South upper for the Ukraine game and it certainly had a ‘family stand’ feel to it, great view though. Sad hearing that some of our players were booed. I guess every teams’ support has their fuckwit element.
