Everyone plays twice for 30 games, then a split for another seven games each for 37 matches in total.

Not saying it's my preferred choice, but that sounds do-able.

I’m not really a fan on split which result in an uneven amount of home and away games, like our current Premiership split, but yeah that is do-able. The problem would be if the Championship goes 16 teams, what happens to the 14 left below?

  2. I’m sure 14-14-14 was mooted at some point. I think 14 - split at 26 games then 12 post split fixtures - is the maximum size with split you could sell to the Old Firm who’ll want to keep their 4xfixtures but only marginally breaks the monotony.

A 16 team league is a non-starter as you’re only playing 30 games a season. 18 also, each club loses a home game on what we have now.

Expanding to 20, merging the Championship and League One, could work, but is there any appetite for it? You’d have to explained out promotion or play offs spots and relegation spots to keep in interesting. What do you do with League Two?

It would be hilarious to see queen's park relegated although I still wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of league reconstruction being back on the agenda should haugheys plaything look in a bit of trouble . It's quite remarkable how the Scottish football media have just sat back whilst dodgy deal after dodgy deal is arranged with queen's park. A stadium initially valued at a £1 by the sfa suddenly becomes worth millions paid for by a loan taken on by the sfa arranged with help from haughey himself. A shambles of a new build and suddenly a deal is brokered letting them return to play at Hampden after selling it for millions. What advantage the sfa gets out of it is anyone's guess but why is queen's park playing every other week on the Hampden pitch seen as a better move than Scotland training on it once in a blue moon? It just doesn't add up but seeing them spend millions to end up relegated would be just desserts for a side basically getting backed by the sfa themselves.

Add in the very strange comments about the facilities at the Oriam which I believe are pretty highly regarded when Scotland decided they’d stop training there to go to the wee Lego kit stadium next to Hampden. Very odd, would love it if QP went down.

The ticket thing is madness. Can understand United wanting to minimise the number of Rovers fans in the ground but doing that is also stopping more casual United fans and neutrals from taking in the game. Total stupidity. This game should be a showcase for lower league football and could have been close to capacity.

It goes right to the heart about football being for and about the fans. Some people in the Dundee United ivory tower, sorry boardroom, seem to have forgotten that.

  5. A shame the euros have come a bit soon for him to really be in contention but if his trajectory continues Bowie should be in the mix for the full squad in the not too distant future. Hopefully he gets a crack at the Championship next season. Helpful he plays in a bit of a problem position for Scotland too. He’s Rovers through and through, as well.

I'd imagine the reason Raith aren't saying what the reason is, is because the reason your chairman gave them is the same gibberish he spouted in the press and nobody can make head nor tail of it.

Not sure why the onus should be on us either. If I was a United fan I’d be wanting to know exactly why the club are turning down £10K of income.

I must admit, I’m getting a bit uncomfortable about the noise Raith are making about this now.
The initial statement was fair enough, if a bit unnecessary but the manager and Chairman talking about United being ‘rattled’ is not helpful.

I think we just need to keep a lid on it now, act with a bit of decorum.
Letting fans know if we’re still pushing for more tickets is fine but much more than that is just unhelpful at this stage.

I can understand the reaction. I wouldn’t like us to just roll over and let United tickle our tummies here. I’m glad we haven't just shrugged our shoulders and meekly accepted season ticket holders, fans who’ve been home and away all season, being locked out of a game where there will be empty seats.

I had Liam Dick as the other potential in my mind as McGlynn signed him for you, he's local to us and he can fill in at centre back if needed.

McGlynn never seemed too keen on Dick. I think I remember him admitting at some point he was his 3rd choice signing in terms of left backs that summer. I’m surprised though you we’re seemingly never in for Jamie Gullan, McGlynn was always a big fan, not sure off hand how long his loan term is at Dundalk.

Absolutely. I reckon we would have taken 3,000 given the magnitude of the game (the same as we did in 2010 at Dens for the cup QF and in 2011 at East End). Shame we’ll never find out.

Think we were nudging 4000 for the Challange Cup Final last season? I think we could have broken through that.
