  1. Only St Mirren have had more draws than Hibs this season, 12 to our 11. A 0-0 draw is the likely result on Saturday.
  2. I am told Atkinson is good going forward but not such a good defender. Funnily enough there was an Australian guy on hibs.net saying we should sign him. 6 months later he signed for Hearts. I think your right, Nelson will be forced into going for it and there is no guarantee you will win the following week. Both managers in the keek if they lose twice. The times I have watched Hearts this season the best players were the aforementioned Beningime, and Soutter as well as Kingsley with his free kicks a big factor, Boyce looking a much better player in the 10 role since the big kid from Everton came in up front and McKay. Not being in the top 6 would be dire for me. 5 weeks of Dundee etc. Not good when you have a season ticket and can't just bail out.
  3. When I saw Holt appointed to that role at your club I wasn't sure what qualified him to do it. Thought I must be missing something. I could have seen him as the manager but not DoF. As it stands he has you stuck with a lot of poor players for another season. As ever other teams will be interested in the better players if they can afford to closely match their wages but the poorer players won't get such offers so will have to sit tight unless an agreement can be reached and that will compromise your budget for replacements. A vicous circle.
  4. Everything about what you say about Griffiths rings true. He would be great if we played like American Football. Bring him on for Free Kicks, Corners and Penalties then take him off again. In the summer when Hibs supporting idiots wanted him signed i looked at how many minutes of league football he had played for Celtic in the last 3 years and in not one season did he break 900 minutes which equates to less than 10 games in each of the last 3 seasons. As for the Riordan etc. What they all have in common is they are thick. It seems footballers can get away with all manner of unprofessional behaviour when they are young if they have great ability but at 28 years of age your body tells you to do one. Riordan was completely done at 28. Griffiths pretty much done at 28. Lack of mobility is the death knell for strikers.
  5. I think you are probably right benchmarking Griffiths at Championship level but a few will be taking note that he is doing nothing in the 3rd tier so might not be so keen to sign him up. Raith Rovers like a controversial player but don t know if they would dare now. Re coaches, lots of moans on Hibs forums about Maloney not knowing what he is doing so you are not alone. When your new guy was coming in his back story was pushed out far and wide in the media. When I read it I thought that will be a disaster. We have a similar scene with a player, Chris Mueller, the similarity being the heavily pushed back story. After a 6 month delay the guy eventually arrived and looks average and has struggled to be a starter. He was on buttons playing for Orlando in the MLS but apparently Hibs are paying him a big wage. We have an American owner who sees the proximity to England and thinks Hibs is a shop window which can be used to sell developed players for big bucks. I can see your club is stuck with most of the current squad for another year. Looks like you are painted into a corner on the player front so you might be better taking your medicine and getting someone like Houston in to sort things out for a year so you are ready to push on the following season. Never popular with supporters but it might be a far better long term approach.
  6. Hibs need to win and Hearts can save their players for the following week if not fully fit. Will they do that? Are we looking at 0-0 again? Hibs were missing Magennis, Mitchell, McGinn Nisbet and Doidge on Saturday through injury and Porteous through suspension. Don't know if we have any more injuries and whether Doidge will be ready to return. Harry Clarke improved things but the disconnect in the final third remains and makes scoring goals tough when playing against 11 Hearts were missing Baningime, Souter and Devlin at the weekend Can't see Soutter playing in this weeks game? Hearts fans, what other players of yours are injured/suspended and how do you think your team will approach the game in the light of the cup game next week and being home and hosed in 3rd?
  7. I am a Hibs fan but also a Scottish football fan of many years standing so it is sad to see how your club have struggled since the Houston years. I hear a bit about what has gone on when listening to The Terrace podcast when they discuss the lower leagues and i feel your pain especially after reading the last 5 pages of this thread. As you may have noticed we are struggling to score goals and predictably there were shouts pre season and mid season, from our more nostalgic and some might say dense supporters, for Leigh Griffiths to be brought 'home' to Hibs. I was of the opinion that he was finished as a top level player 3 seasons ago so hoped we wouldn't go near him. No sooner did Celtic give him a contract extention and Leigh messed up again and after 4 tough months on loan at Dundee he was predictably binned by Celtic in January and less predictably signed up by Falkirk in i presume a desperate bid to drive your promotion push. From outside it looks like that has not worked out. Reading between the lines he has injury, fitness and weight issues which mean he is now a busted flush. From what you have seen what level will Griffiths be playing at next season? Does junior football beckon for him? Problem is that it doesn't matter what level he goes to, a lack of fitness to play, for whatever reason, will render him unable to perform. What are your thoughts on his performances for Falkirk?
