I realise this is very much old man screams at cloud type stuff, but I actually think this is where some of our problems stem from. As much as Hanlon and Stevenson at Hibs, for example, at now more fringe elements of the playing squad, it's pretty clear they hold a fairly significant influence within the dressing room. We moved on from Craigan, Hammell, Lasley and even guys like Tait who had a reasonable spell here and feel quite a lot more waifs and strays than we have in a while. Numerous players have cited the influence of guys like Lasley off the field, and we just don't really have anyone like that on staff anymore.

Even after that, wee Al seemed a similar character to have around the club in terms of progressing through the youth sides, whilst now it seems the youth development is at  low ebb excluding lennon Miller. We could do with players who seriously buy into the club and stick around for more than 18 months.

You all love dead Bill Hicks don't you? It's easy being dead Bill Hicks.

I wish I could be judged on 90 minutes worth of material.

How much material do people judge and revere Kurt kobain for? Realistically Nevermind and bits of In Utero. Be surprised if its much longer than 90 minutes.

I'm in the "think he's better than Shaw / Obika but wouldn't spend limited funds on him" camp.

I must say I thought he looked outstanding a few times I saw him for St. Mirren last season, to the point I was thinking what great foil he'd have been for Van Veen in a front two.

He's obviously had a very patchy career, but in his last spell you'd probably say he was effective for 12 of the 18 months? He had his purple patch, then six months of playing beside Sammon, then six months where he done the donkey work for Turnbull, Hastie, Ariyibi etc to get the glory.

I think if we sign him and then spend the rest of the month trying to get a taker for Obika, or begging Barnsley to recall Shaw, then that's a dangerous game.

If the rest of our team was sorted but we were lacking a striker, I'd happily sign him, but considering it's the other way around, I wouldn't.

Considering our goalkeeper defence and midfield all look weaker it would be mental to be chasing another striker. If we offloaded two wages in obika and Shaw, and that allowed us an extra wage to get Main fair enough. But we can't keep the same defence and midfield by the end of January.

I'm not quite sure how your 41.6% stat checks out, given that your counting Dundee as two clubs in the same league. However, comparing Scotland to England - using your timeframe of this century and that rationale - there have been 14 cases of clubs going in to administration in Scotland in a 42 team setup - equating to 33% In that same time in England, there have been 38 cases of clubs going in to administration in a 96 team setup - equating to 40%.

Since Hearts entered administration in June 2013, another four clubs in England (Bury, Derby, Wigan and Bolton) have entered administration whilst none have up here in that time. Bury ceased to exist, as did Macclesfield, who appeared to bypass the administration stage before going out of business.

For me this is the difference. Scottish clubs have been burned by trying to emulate our southern neighbours. Over the last decade most scottish clubs have reduced their debts or moved to more sustainable models, whereas English clubs seem to be increasingly reliant on foreign ownership.

Derek Adams teams have been the better team in every game he's ever managed. Such an obvious smoke screen as his expensively built team lost, surprised hes gone so early.

He's not wrong though, league is as bad as its been for a while even Celtic & Rangers are a bit shit.

Aberdeen were decent, if unlucky, in the conference, competed in every game, rangers finished top of their group, celtic beat Feyenoord. So it can't be that bad......

It's such an easy option to slate scottish football at times. If it's so bad why is the messiah back here getting beat most weeks?
