Pains me more to say it but you're probably right.

The pyramid should help clubs find their level and Stranraer's level ultimately isn't in the top 42 clubs in the country.

Suspect we'll go down anyway but hope not.

This is true. There are maybe 15-20 clubs right now below the SPFL with higher attendances. But is this due to regular good seasons and a prospect of winning things?

I'd hazard a guess that attendances at clubs like Talbot, Pollok etc would drop off over time if they found themselves stuck in the middle of the LL for a few years.

After all, its not that long ago that attendances of 5-600 were a regular occurrence at Stair Park, with 4 figures on occasions.

I guess apathy has set in.

Not any positive vibes coming out of Stair Park. Feeling is they will struggle to attract the players needed to even survive the LL.

Could be first SPFL club to drop to Tier 6.

A hellish prospect. But it would present a quandary. If it were to happen, how would they deal with the Reserves? Can't demote them. Nowhere to demote them to. They would have to cease to exist. Unless both teams are allowed into the WoSFL, with the first team in the Prem and the Reserves in Div 2.

Then again, if we drop to Tier 6 the likelihood is that the Reserves will become the first team anyway as we wouldn't be able to afford to bus in a team every week.

What interesting times we live in.

Rangers wanted 2 divisions of 16 back as had operated until 1955 (when C Division was abolished and a Scottish Reserve League began).

To get around supermajorities they proposed winding-up SFL then immediately forming a new league with 5 'smallest' clubs excluded (not bottom 5 clubs: they'd actually finished 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 15th out of 19 in 1963-64).

At a secret meeting of 'the 32' threats were made to 10 more - Alloa, Arbroath, Ayr, Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton, East Fife, Montrose, Queen's Park, Raith and Stirling Albion - that some of them might find themself 'swapped' for the 5 if voted against.

They have loftier ambitions now, and would settle for 1 division of 2.

The Morning Star in Castle Douglas 😀

Now you're really having a giraffe.

History of Mosley's 1930s far right British Union of Fascists, highest local membership in Scotland in those towns and villages from Dumfries to Stranraer. Must be something in the water down there.

High concentrations of iron and manganese. Makes the water brown, but as far as i know there are no studies suggesting a link to Fascism.😜

People- the above are First World problems. Staring down the barrel of an LL play-off is worthy of concern way beyond what day of the week to go to Peterhead. 🤢

    I agree entirely.

Going to Peterhead any day of the week is preferable.

Do Stranraer have much in the way of commercial income? I'm guessing that as the main town for quite a large area there must be a fair number of genuinely local businesses that would be interested in supporting their local club. If average attendances on their own are a sign of the club's financial strength then you're right, you wouldn't only struggle to compete with other Lowland League clubs, you'd be up against West of Scotland clubs too.

Commercial income i'm not sure of. Long term relationship with Stena Line, McLeans Taxis are local. Don't know the sums involved. I would hope both would stay with us, but you never know.

Just like the Irish boat, league football will leave Stranraer for good.

    Hello non league.

You are likely to be spot on with that prediction. Attracting players good enough to get promoted back will be incredibly difficult. The one attractive thing we have over Lowland teams is SPFL football. Without that why would a good Lowland-quality player choose to play for us over any central-belt team? We arent going to pay more.

If we drop this year i can't see us ever coming back, sadly.

Sad to see the predicament Stranraer are in. You guys can only hope Stenny will take the foot off the gas seeing as theyre already champions. Wonder if it would be a benefit for yous to cut admission prices next week and try and get a decent crowd in.

Immaterial of finishing bottom I can't see East Kilbride winning the play off

The way we're going i wouldn't bet on us beating our own SoSL team over 2 legs.

We'd draw 0-0 and lose on pens we are so bad at finding the net.

I fear for you guys, of the three trying to avoid bottom place I’d much prefer Stranraer to survive but based on that display at Station Park I think you’re doomed. That said, it’s a funny old game. Good luck for next week and hopefully Stenny are already on
