He was on good money and had lots of time left on a 10 year contract, you think we’d be buying that out?
I think his contract would have been terminated by mutual consent but it's all hypothetical, of course.

If we unfortunately lost Paton this summer, who would you want to bring in as a replacement? I wouldn't mind someone along the lines of Bruce Anderson from Livi, although he might not want to join a Championship club.
I would be really (and pleasantly) surprised if we don't lose anyone from the team's current backbone. If we do, it wouldn't be the end of the world provided that we get a decent fee. After all, that is what "the project" was all about and you can't force a player to stay if he wants to go. I have recently read an interview with Paton and one can see that he is a very ambitious lad who really wants to compete at the highest possible level.

We didn’t let Beuker go, he went to Ajax. If he didn’t do that, he would still be here.
Aye he did. But I really don't think he would still be here if he hadn't.

What makes me happiest this season is that club decided to be an established Championship club by letting Veldman & Beuker go. For a long while, it looked like the board was happy to cling on to a failing project even though it meant certain relegation.

I wonder what peoples thoughts are on bringing in a replacement Director of Football.
It was never addressed when Beuker left as to whether the club would look to find a replacement. I personally quite like the idea of having one in place but only with the right person who would have some level of stature in the game.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea but I don't think it's a good one either. I'm quite sure though, it would make Callum Davidson unhappy.

Queen's had just gone a goal up in an enormous game and you were furious? What is wrong with you?

I know it isn't important but I would like him to give the support a wee wave when he gets a standing ovation
It's important to me. All of our players need to acknowledge the fans more. Much more.
On a related note, I'm perfectly aware of the abuse Paton has been getting from Airdrie fans this season but I was furious when he chose to taunt them after scoring yesterday, rather than running towards us and celebrating his goal, in a home game. I know there are very few of us, but that doesn't mean we simply don't exist.

I couldn't agree more mate. We need to lift silverware. Any silverware. It's been ages.

It seems like we've been in a relegation battle since October yet 2 points off 5th.
The madness that is the Scottish Championship. We need more teams in this league.

The joy of pissing next to Jack Thomson at half time at the men's toilet...and casually discussing his injury.
I fucking love everything about this club hahaha please don't ever change

We deserved to win this. Best of luck to Airdrie in the playoffs. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I hate playing against you hahah

Looks like we're missing Jack Thomson!

OK I'm gonna stop youse right there with the "what-if-we-kept-Veldman?" fantasy
Veldman failed not because he was given an allegedly weak and inexperienced team to manage but because he was a horrible manager and he lost the confidence of his players with his incompetence & non-sensical tactics. He refused to learn from his mistakes, could not stand criticism, and always blamed the players. He has been recently signed by a Belgian Second Tier team and is averaging 0.75 points per game (1 win and 3 losses in 4 games), almost exactly the same average with us.
His appointment was and will forever be a terrible mistake regardless of the squad he was given, so please don't go down that road because it leads to a place where you'll find yourself walking the entire length of the Excelsior Stadium side by side with Will Tizzard and tears in your eyes on a dreich October night.

Will you be returning to Lesser next season? Has any more work been done on the stadium?
I keep checking it every time I go to Hampden Park but I don't see any progress at all. If we stay up, we're 100% at big Hampden. If we go down, who knows? Personally, I dont think it's fit for even League 1 games in its current state. We can't host away crowds. We can barely fit our own regular home crowd in it!

I'm aware the purpose of this thread is something different (i.e a fantasy team of Championship players) but for me the team of the season is Airdrie. As a Queen's Park fan, it really hurts me to say this but credit where credit is due. Winning the playoffs in League 1 last year and making it into the top four in the Championship this season is a massive achievement. I only wish we can beat them just for once in the last game of this season so that we can stay up.

If QP go down it would mean probably Hamilton coming up, meaning League 1 should be shooty-in for a side with QP's budget next season and someone like Paton under contract.
If we go down, I don't think we'll be able to keep half of our current team.

I don’t buy in to the idea that relegation would be the disaster that some are making it out to be
Relegation would be a disaster. There's a massive difference between a Championship club and a League 1 club in terms of finances, wages, attendances, community engagement, club structure and of course, the players & non-playing staff. If we go down, we'll have to be a completely different club.

The biggest game in the pro era against an already relegated side on horrendous form. Fail to win and questions will begin to raise and probably rightly so
A - We played our biggest game of the normal season against Inverness and threw in the towel.
B - Fail to win and the only question that will be raised is who can we sign for his replacement in League 1?
That doesn't mean he's a fraud but I really really hate managers who obsessively stick to a single formation regardless of the abilities of the players and call it their philosophy of play.
I'm 99% sure we'll finish 9th and drop down to the playoffs now. I have no idea how in-form the League 1 teams in the playoffs will be but our trajectory is very depressing.

Two years in a row. I still can't believe how we've managed to tie him down for another three years.
Paton also made the team of the year. We seem to tick both boxes according to the Turkish football saying "you need a good catcher, and a good kicker" to succeed, but I guess the problem is what's in between the two

I won’t lie, I hope your players have the same defeatist attitude you guys do
It's not defeatism. I think we're just being somewhat pessimistically objective based on what we saw on the pitch in the last three matches. We didn't lose them due to bad luck, bad refereeing, or some other excuse. If we had lost them while playing well, I wouldn't be too worried about this one but the performances were abysmal.

I don't have any problem with the lack of injury news. An opposing team is probably going to set up differently if Thomas is playing. Leave them guessing.
I completely disagree with this. I'm not used to this lack of transparency both on and off the pitch.
This was released only moments ago by Beşiktaş:
It's not fair to compare Queen's Park and Beşiktaş but this is basic communication. It's the kind of thing a club will/won't do rather than can/can't.

As far as I know, Robson is out of contract and I'm pretty sure he won't be offered an extension.
I think he was excellent in the Airdrie game and wish him all the best if he leaves.
